And oh; let’s not forget the politics. The old guard needs to go! They are damn lucky they won because they played like crap. Taurusi sucked and should not of been there at all. High-school players have higher odds than that. Not all of them but 1-2 per team. Totally embarrassing. But maybe DT will get another gold for being the water girl. BTW, I was not upset about the snub. I felt it was the best thing for CC at the time. Can't wait to see this new, refreshed and rejuvenated Caitlin breaking more records. BTW2, I was not aware of any pro women's BBall leagues before the 24 draft, ( I guess subconciously I was aware since I was half-heartedly following the woman/man in the russian gulag, but i guess i never made the connection) and having since watched how most of the WNBA stars shoot, dribble, move etc. I understand why. There are some exceptions and many are improving. Fever players are absolutely learning how to catch. Caitlin is that one in a lifetime phenom and I'm 75. I remember how Bob Cousy passed the ball and he had nothing on Caitlin except better teammates.😁
When I was in high school, I played guard and I was about 5' 8" and Bob Cousy was my hero and the guy I most wanted to emulate. His passing and play making ability was the best of the 1950's and '60's.

No matter how funny you try to be you are mad because we brought home the gold suck it up Clark could not have survived in these Olympics with this physicality.
France played bravely and with heart, however any WNBA team would have beaten them comfortably. Team USA were awful and looked bemused most of the time and the number of missed shots, rebound failures and general lack of vision on plays was much in evidence. I won't criticise any individual player, but it was clear that DT was only in the squad so that she could get her 6th Gold even though she hardly played and had very low scores. The 'old guard' needs to be turfed out.
Here's the rundown of what Taurasi vs Clark had to work with in college, by year - no recruit rankings back then, so going by teammates who played in WNBA: - Taurasi: 7 from freshman yr, 6 in sophomore yr, 5 each in jr & sr yrs; 11 total - Clark: 0/0/0/1; 1 total (Martin) - could potentially be 2, if Stuelke ends up making it Also, Taurasi didn't lead her team for her 1st 2 yrs [edit: in any stats category, I meant to say here] and then led in most her last 2 yrs, but Clark was the driving force at Iowa the entire time, leading her team in almost every category for all 4 yrs. And Clark never played with a 5-star teammate, nor anyone ranked in the top 40 of their recruiting classes.
@@spooge33 Why, go to a recruiting factory to boost her chances at a title, rather than trying to do it at home while staying close to family and friends like she wanted? I think she's pretty satisfied with what she accomplished.
Taurasi getting gold, is why people who make the argument that you have to win a championship to be considered great is a boat load of crap!! Its the team your on and who you have to play with and the coach that determines those championships.
You mean that France should have never been in the game. US had 14 turnovers that gave France 14 points. But yes, the US came from behind like all the great USA athletes in this Olympics and won gold. Now move on.
@@ronsmac Oh no, leave Alyssa out of your mouth. Alyssa had them up by 9 points when she came in. Reeve just did not give her any help and stayed with the others.
DT is a bully. She's going through a mid life crisis and losing her status in the league. She's trying to find reasons not to retire, because she has limited opportunities. I'll bet she humiliated about her time on the US team. Let's see her interviews about the experience when she gets back😅
She’s blowing it. WNBA is going to explode with the right leadership. Good leadership is going to chase away all the things that held the league back for twenty years. She is poison. Jealous and bitter
“When the WNBA sends its people, they're not sending their best." THIS was the year when you trot out your new blood, pulling superstars and building an enduring legend, not "the old and injured won't step aside". Really bad missed opportunity that may damper out what Caitlin Clark started. WBNA needs to wash out its leadership.
I didn’t boycott. But I didn’t watch because I guess I just don’t care enough. I was so inspired after March Madness to love this League. But after all the hate, gaslighting, gatekeeping, jealousy, drama, and lack of paying it forward in this league…. I have lost interest. And Taurasi exemplifies everything that is worst in the WCliqueBA. Zero class , zero appeal. Zero character on display. Zero surprise about where her allegiance lies, to UCONN and the establishments that gold plate her ‘legacy’. I’m still rooting for the rookies and the next generation. I’m still rooting for CC to overcome. But the WCliqueBA successfully wore me out with lack of appeal, lack of character and lack of game.
What a great take on Taurasi and what can only be referred to as her selfishness and narcissism. CC's college stats dwarf those of Taurasi who played on as you said what amounted to pro teams in college. The thing that stood out was the stat that CC was not only the all time scorer in college but also the all time assists leader in college. That is something that does not get mentioned enough. My guess would be that will not ever happen again any time soon.
Correction CC was not.rhe all time assists leader in college but she did lead the NCAA in assists 3 consecutive years and lead in scoring and assists 2 times. No body else has ever led in scoring and assists even once previously.
Sour grapes there. Clark went to two final fours and lost in the final two years in a row. Oh and the last time UCONN won a National Championship was 2016 With Stewart. Its getting close to a decade now
I wanted team USA to lose so bad, I wanted them to lose from their first game. The Taurazisaur shouldn't have been there. Caitlin Clark deserved to be on that team so much more than the Tsaur. She is going to fade off someday.....hopefully tomorrow, and her name should never be spoken again. The WNBA team BEAT Team USA!! What's that tell you about Team USA? Yeah, Caitlin didn't get any national championships, but she drove her team to the championship game. Iowa should have beaten LSU in '23, but they outplayed Iowa, and this year, S.C. was definitely the better team. Dawn Staley is a great coach with great talent. Iowa beat them in the final 4 in '23, but had to face them for the championship after defeating both LSU and UConn. S.C. deserved to win on talent, but if it was on heart, Iowa should have won. But that's in the past, I am just enjoying how hundreds of thousands of people are letting the WNBA know that they fukt up when they didn't even ask Caitlin. That's on Reeve. As Caitlin finally said after not being picked, "they woke up a monster", and I hope we get to see the monster next Friday when the Fever plays their first game after the break.

D Taurasi got her 6th Gold medal, that all that matters. She was injured before she left the USA, that's why they took her, just to get a 6th Gold medal.
It is interesting that DT and Stewart, both from UConn made the Olympic team in their rookie year. We all know that Jennifer Rizzoli, part of the Olympic committee was a UConn former player. As you can see a girl from Iowa CC and her teammates defeat South Carolina in 2023 final four CC scoring 41 points, and then in 2024 defeats LSU by CC scoring again 41 points in the elite eight!! This gold medal is tarnished!! Dawn Staley, who was on the Olympic committee, she knows very upfront and close how CC destroyed her team in 2023. I’m tired of UConn privilege in the media in selection committees, and management and the players. CC beat Pete Maravich’s record and when you watch her, you can see how fast she plays the game. She may not be the quickest player, but the way she passes and runs up the court CC appears to be the quickest. However, Chelsea Gray was shuffling and dragging her feet most the time with some few exceptions of really good passes. Diana Taurasi we all know that was just favoritism and preferential treatment and politics, and it was disgusting. Shame shame.
@@philliswheatley5925 - So Taurasi bragging about winning NCAA titles had more to do with her teammates than her ability as a player. None of Caitlin Clark's teammates were top WNBA players. I never hear Taurasi give Geno any credit for HER 3 NCAA title wins. Auriemma is, and always will be, the greatest women's college basketball coach. Any records Taurasi has in the WNBA will be eclipsed by Clark.
I said right after Taurasi's selection that it would actually cheapen her legacy. The hubris of the Selection Committee almost caught up with the U.S. team today. In a game where they shot 16.7% (2 of 12) from 3, and desperately needed crisp passing and dribble penetration from their point guard, they had a 42 year-old one-time great and a still-not-back-from-injury great sitting on the bench instead of the two people that should have been on the team.
Wilson showed the true class in her interview after the game. Male testosterone is heavy in their voices and insecurity. Actually the female dog description Wilson so aptly used fits the whole team starting with Cheryl “ Kathy Bates Misery “ Reeve.
"Pterodactyl Taurasaurus" should have her medal revoked and instead be given a "Participation Trophy". Although a PT would imply that there was actual participation?! 😳 Having been benched I'm guessing someone on staff forgot to load her "walker" on the bus🙄?! 🤔 Are we supposed to say "way to go B Team" right about now 😳🙄?! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I already talked about that Aj'a 'rebound' in the last quarter and the fact that instead of France getting possession, the US scored - that alone would have made the difference in the game. And I gotta say, Kelsey Plum is a f'ing flop queen - leaned into every touch to turn non-fouls into fouls that whole last 9 minutes of the game that I managed to catch.
As much as of a mistake it was for them to leave CC off the team I think it was a blessing for her. She really needed the break. And as long as she's still in the w she'll be on the next Olympic team.
Absolute horrible game - shooting on both sides was embarrassingly bad. US needed shooters in there in a bad way but Ionescu and Lloyd on the bench - what is Reeve thinking. Favored Plum and Young - both of them were very bad. They needed a floor general (Clark) and rebounder (Reese) neither of which they had. Taurasi and Gray should not have been on this team - Taurasi injured and cannot run; Gray is injured and cannot run. None of their big players are rebounders - Griner is tall but very slow, Collier, Copper do not know how to rebound - they are scorers and were absolutely terrible in this game. But Jackie Young was the worst in this game - 1-8 from the field, terrible passing and decision making - but Reeve would not take her out. Reeve got bailed out when she fouled out of the game finally - which I was begging for. Had Young been in the game, I am convinced they would have lost.
@@user-oi3rp4tt6s. Agree Aja is a good rebounder but none of the other bigs were good. Very plain that they were out-rebounded in this game. Maybe right that might not have been worth a spot for a specialty rebounder like Reese. But it was a glaring hole in the game today.
Very good job on facts. Well, Caitlin said she has her shot back during the time off. But if she were in the Olympics, it would've been really awesome. Basketball fans around the world know her... We'll never know this, but if she took part in the Olympics, then went straight back into the WNBA season, would she continue to struggle with her shot? Who knows. It was collective selfishness of the old guard players, and it almost cost them the gold.
When Diani t was a rookie, the wnba vets was so different vs now. They weren't childish, petty, or immature. They wanted the wnba to grow & welcomed rookies with open arms. Diani T has hurt the wnba brand tremendously.
If you are going to take players to the Olympics and sit them on the bench, you might as well take young players to let them get the experience and build the team for the future. The lack of playing time for many of these players while at the same time leaving behind Clark, Ogunbowale, and others (no not fucking Angel Reese) is indicative of how poorly the National Women's Program is managed.
Why is CC so likeable? Well it's hard to tell until she actually WINS a championship, but I'd be willing to bet that Caitlin will never say that she won the championship. But I'd think she'll be more likely to say "Our team won the championship" Having said that, I'm kind of surprised that the gold medal game was so close.

Thank God Caitlin wasn't on that team Gabby Williams would have destroyed her. She would have had 19 turnovers all by herself.
The turnovers were very bad. 16 in first half and 19 the whole game. They kept losing procession and created their own problem.
Here's the rundown of what Taurasi vs Clark had to work with in college, by year - no recruit rankings back then, so going by teammates who played in WNBA:
- Taurasi: 7 from freshman yr, 6 in sophomore yr, 5 each in jr & sr yrs; 11 total
- Clark: 0/0/0/1; 1 total (Martin) - could potentially be 2, if Stuelke ends up making it
Also, Taurasi didn't lead her team for her 1st 2 yrs [edit: in any stats category, I meant to say here] and then led in most her last 2 yrs, but Clark was the driving force at Iowa the entire time, leading her team in almost every category for all 4 yrs. And Clark never played with a 5-star teammate, nor anyone ranked in the top 40 of their recruiting classes.
Taurasi was ALWAYS a passenger. Nobody can name one thing she did as a player that was noteworthy.

My guess would be that will not ever happen again any time soon.

They didn’t need AR as a rebounder, thats why they had AJA is stat leader on REB. I’d choose AB over AR anytime/anyday of the week
Who knows.
But again, it would've been really really cool if CC was part of that team.
This could be a basketball tragedy. And we can't go back in time.
What a coinkydink that both France basketball teams went to the finals for gold??
They're pretty good, didn't u notice?
@@peterhaslund lol 😆 😂
Had Taurasi played Team USA would of lost Gold and settled for Silver. Taurasi didn't come to play, that was obvious by her performances. She only came to watch other players get her another undeserved Gold Metal!
It's not hard to figure out why Taurasi made the team as a rookie....Geno was the Team USA coach.
To say a man with 4 rings is a terrible coach is crazy 😒
Sad. DT was only included for personal glory for posterity.
She will be remembered as the worst player on the Team USA womens basketball roster ever. 🤣
She had championships at UConn, a school that won over 120 straight games - when there was no competition. She couldn't have been more than 19 years old when she was picked. But now they have age limits and Clark is only 22.
@@stevenvox6549She played on a UConn team that was loaded with star talent. Not just her, but a full team of stars at the time. So don’t act like she carried that team,
@@porddaed I wish that was true, but she will sadly be remembered as a 6-time gold medalist, the most ever for women's basketball. This was the real reason that CC was left off the team, now CC will need to play at 46 to tie this record, which is unlikely.
Correction on DT….not zero across the board. 1 bench warmed and 18 “let’s go”
Why is CC so likeable? Well it's hard to tell until she actually WINS a championship, but I'd be willing to bet that Caitlin will never say that she won the championship. But I'd think she'll be more likely to say "Our team won the championship"
Having said that, I'm kind of surprised that the gold medal game was so close.
Yes basketball is a team sport, no one player wins a championship.
If you watch the on court interviews of Caitlin after the games she set scoring records, she consistently talks about the team and how she could not have achieved those records without them. You can tell she’s proud, but totally avoids making it about herself.
@@Primus54 Exactly, unlike LeBum. If you didn't see him on the bench acting like he was placing a crown on his own head you might want to check it out.
@@Willard-l7t I think I’ll pass on that. I’m an Ohio native and used to be a LeBron fan, but he started to lose me when he went to Miami. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he returned to Cleveland and won a championship, but off he went again to chase more adulation. He completely lost me over BLM and kneeling during the national anthem.
@@Primus54 Good for you for recognizing all that. Took a knee for the flag when it suited his political agenda but became the flag bearer in the Olympics when is put the spotlight on him. The funny part about the crown incident is there was a roar of the crowd and he assumed it was for him, but it was for a French Olympic athlete who had entered the arena.
WOW, pretty cheap GOLD medal; only had to score three points and got her 6th gold. Something to be real proud of. I'm sure her grandkids will be so proud!!!
Taurasi could have left an amazing legacy, but she chose woke. Dumb, dumb, dumb!
Big fan of Diana, but enough…
Thank God that’s all over!Aj Wilson ain’t got style, she overly aggressive.
Right, MVP my ass…she has no distinctive game. It’s meh
Drugs usually makes people more aggressive

I agree with your assessment of Wilt Chamberlain, owns 72 NBA, 68 by himself, one Team Record, with the Los Angeles Lakers, 33 game winning streak, streak came to an end, on Jan 9, 1972, against Kareem Abdul - Jabbar and the Milwaukee Bucks, Laker’s went on too win 1972 NBA Championship

These individuals should be kept far away from any committee or any decisions. Every decision they make should be called into question. That’s how life works. You can’t bumble and stumble around society and then be given powerful positions. That hurts all of us.
right, i thought about Wilt too
Can you talk about the assist to turnovers ratio of the Team UldSA ball handlers during the final game?
I agree with everything you say except one. Larry Bird is the GOAT! He could have broken more records, but valued team play more and back issues compromised his career eventually forcing an early retirement.
18th pick is not late second round. 6 more people were selected in that round after Kate Martin. I don't understand why people keep knocking a guard that was the leader and played the 4 spot all last season on a team that went to the championship game. She does what her team asks of her and plays both sides of the ball. Great teammate, great character.
That's a clear foul in the image. Hand check on the hip should have been an extra penalty shot, and extra time. Refs just keep on screwing with the women's game. It's not different. It's the officiating, dude.
I agree with you for the most part. The " I" won 3 national championships and " I " won 6 NBA titles is the mentality of all basketball players. Their is no "I" in team doesn't go with basketball. You never hear an NHL, MLB or NFL player use the " I " reference because it is a team sport. Makes me sick.
Diana rode Lobos back in all 3 championships
Clark will be rested, energized, now in sync with teammates and got her shot back. Outside of maybe Wilson, the other girls will be tired and hung over. Any player will tell you that championships trump MVPs, allstar games and probably even the Olympics.
You're absolutely correct when you asserted that even sending a "B-Team" to the Olympics will still net a gold medal, and this USA "B-Team" has proven just that.
If you watched the game, France should win. There was a major mistake in Q4 when Ajax stepped out of bound. Referee gave USA ball and went on scoring in that procession. It was pure luck that USA won.
