In honor of #WorldBeeDay 2023, Guerlain Bee Ambassador Angelina Jolie co-hosted a special #BeeSchool workshop at the local community school in Santa Clara located in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico - home to the endangered Melipona beecheii bee.​
A central part of the #GuerlainForBees Conservation Programme, the Bee School network invites primary school children around the world to attend an in-depth workshop about the importance of bees, while raising awareness on how we can act to protect their future.​
As one of the main pollinators of the Mayan Forest ecosystem, this tiny, stingless bee is sacred to Mayan communities, who have used its honey and wax for food, ceremonial and medicinal purposes for centuries. Guerlain is proud to help Mexican nonprofit La Fundacion Selva Maya with support from Maroma & Belmond in their efforts to repopulate this critically endangered species, whose numbers have fallen by 90% in recent years.​
