I rode it before the rebranding and I wasn’t expecting the drop. It does feel like it’s a long drop. It’s been 20 years and I still remember that drop 🤪

I am really into cement walls and ceiling fans. That being said, if they replaced the dinosaurs with some nice 4 blade 3 speed light/fan combos on dimmer switches, I’d have a season pass to this place.

I am so glad I got to experience the original Jurassic Park. Still have all my pics for when they take before the ride. The T Rex facing you as you drop, the falling down jeep, the 2 little dinos fighting for a bag of popcorn.

Absolutely. That's exactly what I was thinking about watching this. I guess it's good for little kids but it really lacks the realism you'd want to see in a ride like this

This ride was iconic and was my all time favorite before the facelift. Those dinosaurs are a red herring for the most unexpected drop I’ve ever experienced.

They should add some loud thumping dinosaur footsteps to add more immersion and suspense, like chaos is breaking out and the Indominus is running along the path to ambush the boat at the end. The boat shakes as it’s following you. Then, when it seems like the Indominus has you trapped, the boat stops...

I still don’t understand why they don’t have dinosaurs running toward us or alongside us. The track can be hidden by plants. Simple. I figured it out 20 years ago. It’s been done on a smaller scale with a walking Belle, Olaf and others.
And I can’t believe the stupid ceiling-dinosaurs still slide on a visible belly-track with strobe lighting cues. It’s very fake.

The original ride even in it's later years when a number of animatronics were removed for breaking down felt more populated with more Dinosaurs than this.

OMG! THAT is the most horrifying part of of this ride.
In the old ride, the opening of the gates and the music playing forcibly put a smile on my face. It was not only nostalgic, but it was inspiring. I really felt like I was in Jurassic Park. Kinda disappointed in the new ride when I look back on how great it used to be. Still looks fun and well made, just not as great as the original.

The older version was better. Though the screens at the beginning are a cool effect it just seems cheap. The animatronics were so more immersive and the opening of the Jurassic parks gates was an iconic moment on the ride. Also as stated in other comments the countdown in the old version really built suspense

Reviews from people who actually rode it, seemed to think otherwise.
Exactly the part without any dinosaurs looks very cheap. I don’t think Universal is going to like the reception this ride gets when it does “officially” open.
Timothy Cross I actually rode it and the old version actually looked like complete shit, idk what time period the ride was good at some point but for the past 5 years going to universal the animatronics were trash.
Timothy Cross I think instead of modernizing it they could have refurbished it and fixed the mistakes of the broken necks for example. And covered the areas that you can see those areas outside of the attractions.
That's what I was thinking. Of course I rode it when all the effects were working. It was beautiful and immersive and I didn't notice any parking lot views or whatever people are talking about.
Personally I preferred the old Jurassic Park version of the ride more. It was showing its age sure, but it had something to it.

@@lucacianflone4128 Adding gore’s fine, but it needs to make sense to be scary. The scratch marks wouldn’t be blood-filled like that from claws, even if they were drenched in blood. Making it look realistic would be more effective

Omggg, I went on this when I was eight or nine (28 now) and I thought the ride was over right before the T-Rex came out. I had no idea there was a drop, it totally caught me off guard! I loved it so much. I felt an adrenaline rush during the video!

There's actually the same amount of dinos on the ride with the inclusion of the Mosasaurus and the Indominus Rex. It would actually be one less if you really wanted to include the Compys in that list.

AJ you clearly have never been to universal, the cues have about ten TVs in then so your busy their, the kind kong ride is just a 2 massive 3D screens, and a lot of the actual visuals in the other rides are made with the screens, like the Harry potter ride and the transformer ride. And I mean they literally have a show to show of how they do special effects and stuff with props......... and I mean water world Is full of that stuff
MOP 4631 Clearly struggling with comprehension here... I don’t enjoy screens of any incorporation on Universal rides because it’s over done and boring. I don’t enjoy paying to go to a park and sit in front of a screen on every ride. It’s the cheap way to build a ride...

I remember waiting more than 3 hours in line when this first opened back in the 90's as the original Jurrasic Park Ride. My nephew and his friend were about 7 or 8 yrs old and they were acting tough the entire time we were in line about how this ride was not gonna scare them. They did ok until that T-Rex at the end when my nephew turned to me and started bawling his eyes out and screaming that he wanted off the ride. I lmao and told him it was too late, to suck it up and hold on! Once we got off the ride and into the gift shop I asked the boys if they wanted to ride it again and they both turned ghostly pale, looked at each other, and vehemently shook their heads no! I still bust up with laughter when I think about it! 😆

She's always been an adrenaline junky. We took her to Disneyland when she was 18 months old. Took her on Pirates and The Haunted Mansion. We had to hold her down because she wanted to stand up and laugh on both drops on Pirates and tried to squeeze out of our Doom Buggy on the Mansion so she could play with the ghosts!🤣
