Unless you use DAP HHR contact adhesive that is heat resistant the headliner will start sagging as soon as it sits outside on a hot day. The first BMW E46 I ever restored I tried doing the headliner myself and it looked great until I parked it outside for a couple of hours on a hot day. The headliner started coming down near the rear windshield. After that I just removed the headliner and took it to my local upholstery shop and I noticed they used DAP HHR. They charged $400 and provided the matching headliner material. Since then I've had them so several headliners and never had one come down. I hope you fellas have a better outcome. I don't think its the effort but the glue that will let you down.
You are 100% correct. Trimfix is supposed to be heat resistant but it will fail, as it did on the coupe. It should last a couple of years though. When we redo the interior for the final time, in beige/tan leather, we will redo it and use either 3M 90 spray adhesive or contact adhesive, as you suggest. Just needed to get it respectable…for now.
Great video chaps 👍
