i wish he suddenly got bankrup so he would do more mixes for cash
Maybe he was bankrupt already xD
I forgot about this album, and upon rediscovering it, i was sucked backwards through timespace and arrived in 2003. Weird day indeed.
26 pieces of pure concentrated genius for cash :)
This is just some of the most wonderfully composed and balanced music I've ever heard.
A very literal and honest album title I would say.
i loved aphex for such a long time that when i first bought the cd..yes that long ago ..i didnt appreciate it as much as i do now...ive always defined his music as"i never hear the same song the same way"..there are so many layers to his music..i feel like im peeling an onion and crying in the end..tried to be poetic lol..
yeah ..couldn have sad it any better..stick in your mind long after the songs r over RESPECT
I would definetly say his tongue is firmly in his cheek and he is definetly known for being less than truthful in interviews, his music should speak for itself, I think is the way he thinks. Anyway he's collaborated with numerous other artists and there's no way he thinks artists like Philip Glass and Penderecki are shit, both he's collaborated with and who are as important to modern music as he is.
Wow, dunno how I missed out on this album. :o
Me too, I thought I knew most of Aphex's stuff, I was wrong!
Same here, spent a year and a half trawling through the web listening to his stuff and completely missed this
Yeah I sort of did the same upon first hearing this album all those years ago, I never gave it a proper chance. I feel this album has a more mature sense to it than most of his other work. It's also very laid back and flowing. This is a real gem of an album, probably his most underrated..lots of people seem to skip over it too easily or not give it the time it deserves. It grows on you, took me years to really appreciate it lol.
One day a friend of mine played the Gentle People remix for me, and I couldn't believe I'd never heard it. This whole album is amazing, probably my favorite now but it took me years, way too long really, to get around to it...
>I flushed practically all my NIN albums after 5 minutes of listening to RDJ.
But why
The most beautiful sounds compositions what I heard... everytime, when I am hearing this one, I design a great object... it works
I think this is the most instantly enjoyable work of Richard since the RDJ album.
I walk a path less juiced from the washed fillings of older youth's, music of sound like this perpetually puts the parallel sound and sun light into a light of sun sound
I bought the CD the first week it was out. My version is different to this.
this is great!
aphex you are a genius
Thanks Wuki
This is a real master piece
Great soundtrack for driving.
This album is a pure drug...
Crazy, I love it.
fucking genius.
его музыка на 100 уровне!!!!!!
Love it!!!
dope
I absolutely adore your work ☺ ☺ ☺
beautiful
I love listening to this- awesome- thankyou for posting.

This thread is bendist
Binge drinking, ammrite?
tristen druen 3+ months sober
love the way he hated that jesus jones track so much he just built a new one. the seefeel and Philip glass tracks are bordering on religious experiences.
How are they bordering on religious expierences?
+Zoid_Berg well the gentle people track for me is spiritual because it is one of th few pieces of auditory art that makes me trip out slightly. it feels transcendent.
1:03:06 Heard this on 'Further Down the Spiral'.
That was my first exposure to RDJ, and probably the most important album in my life for that reason. I flushed practically all my NIN albums after 5 minutes of listening to RDJ.
totally re-thunk n re-done - masterclass in nocturnal vibes..
The point he was making was that aphex twin aesthetically considered the originals crap so he completely remade them with his own 808's / drum breaks, Yahama CS-80 synth lines, external signal processors etc. This has resulted in completely different and new textures, drums, synths, structure, processing so it essentially is a remake, not a remix.
I am SO going to see BEN HUR now...
I think many of the originals here aren't shit at all. But he, Aphex knows better than me.
he actually is. he has a certificate
Weird listening to Heroes now. RIP Bowie
+retnuHDJ ehm, right to say RIP to D.Bowie, but the composition "Heroes" that compares here was by Philip Glass, naturally remixed by RDJames as Aphex Twin...cheers
just to say the real truth,Aphex T.,here re- remix the remix of "Heroes" done by P. Glass on the original song Heroes", evergreen composed and sang by D.Bowie...hope to be much clear in my explication,now....hover excuse me;)
Bien plus original que le numéro 2, et infiniment plus tranquille...
What is/are the difference/s OOI?
tap le c
merci du partage Ne l'ai plus.Sans doute il cfait partager comme le tien merci
That's on the next disc
(Jazz Fusion/Downtempo Electronic) Mateen J - On Deck
which interview
1:05:20 oh lawd stop blowing these fucking straws right into my fucking ears O__O
Isn't remaking or redoing a song the same thing as remixing a song?
I dont think he could refer to DMX Krew- can't hide your love as shit.
source?
remix is the same song mixed differently and remade is a whole new song resembling the original.
listening to heroes remix.........
hi Bens, I brother is Ben
And it's actually a ridiculous thing to say when you think about it. In a way he just said he doesn't like music you know.
well he didnt think they were all shit
Most of this is true but a few of the tracks (like the far minority) are actual remixes. Let's not be hating on Mr. Philip Glass and David Bowie which is defo a remix and 2 great tracks in of themselves (the song and the orchestral version).
30:44 feels so out of place.
Strange.
show me one song by nobukazu takemura that is "shit"...and show me where rdj said so
you forgot Die Fantastischen Vier - Krieger (Aphex Twin Baldhu Mix)
i guess he is to people like yourself
hello ben my cousins called ben
jesus jones remix doesnt even sound anything like the original haha
They asked him for remic, he had a track ready and just renamed it and gave to them lol
verapamil07 Are you serious? LMAO
PsyDei Itzamná He's a genius. That's the brilliance of his remixes.
wish he was still doing stuff like drukqs again, not into the tuss stuff much.
verapamil07 Actually it was a Lemonheads track where he said he did that, though Aphex bullshits a lot. The Jesus Jones remix has the actual chorus vocals from the original track Zeroes and Ones. There are two Aphex remixes - Reconstruction mix #1 and #2 and they are both ground breaking. There is also a great Prodigy remix of Zeroes and Ones from 1993.
What the fuck is Beck's problem?
lol
Scientology?
John Do'h that he didn't punch kanye in the temple when he had the chance.
bc I knew I would never listen to most of them again- and I haven't really
only 26, i can find millions daily which are made for cash and sound like crap. tbh this sounds just like it. almost no originality no changes almost in the whole tracks, just as well listen to some poor minimal made for cash.
kache not needed
i cant believe gavin bryars paid for that mess of a drum solo
yeah well hes bald so what does he know
No not at all.
The only RDJ album I don't really appreciate.
And the title is so... stupid. Offensive, I mean... Like if he really don't care about his fans. That used to be true. Luckily now he understood how his fans are awesome.
Well, APPARENTLY it's called 26 Mixes For Cash because he only handed back the DAT tapes in person for cash in hand so they didn't know his address, etc through bank details.
If you're a true fan you appreciate Aphex's music, and learn to love his strange sense of humour and caustic attitude towards the industry and the entire concept of 'making music for money'.
funny , i was thinking just the opposite
I am a huge fan, but thats not the problem. I didnt say it's bad : said I prefer the others albums. Then, I didn't say that he wasn't allowed to have that kind of humour or to make music just for money. He already said it, he releases his works not to work at mcdonalds. And I respect it.
Then I'm not a sensitive fan at all, and I didnt say I need a recognition by him because i'm a fan. Stop saying what I never said.
I think I am allowed to say what I think about an album, and that's not because I prefer the others that you can unload your hate on me
I know, I know, this was just to say that i'm not less a fan than you, then I don't understand why my comment did so much shit here
anyway
you mean the most accessable to the untrained ear
