I watched this series with my two oldest who are sons. They both still bring it up every once in a while. When things go wrong I might say, "There is no more. That's the end of magic".
What I really liked about this movie, was the characters, even the ones that you could consinder as 'evil', still had a purpose, a motivation that you can actually follow and relate to. I like charactes with debth.
CrniWuk that is actually The Great Thing about The Arthurian Characters sadly most films seem to suck The Life out of Them which is sad because They Have A Lot of Life in Them
Like Mab, Merlin's own Aunt the woman who raised him even said she had love once. And was kind and good. She became a monster, but she wasn't always evil.
I remember keeping my tv on Hallmark channel just to listen to this song. They had trailers to this movie at every commercial break and I would run to the tv to watch the trailer and listen... and now I have it here. I am crying.
literally everything about this is wrong sorry i have to say something. the exchange was between Morgan and Frick and the lines are "Am I still beautiful/ Beyond words, my love."
I always wondered if the magic at the ending, where Merlin turned himself and Nimué into their own younger selves, was an illusion or not. Earlier in the movie when Merlin and Morgan Le Fay spoke they spoke about the illusion of magically enhancing one's beauty and how it was that beauty always was an illusion. As was the case with the artificial cave, where Nimué waited for Merlin. When I was younger I always thought that this was the case, that it was in fact an illusion and that they were in fact their older selves beneath the veil of magic. I like to think of it now however, as Merlin and Nimué were granted the gift of restored youth as a reward - For the part in which Merlin took in giving up his own happiness in favour of restoring the natural order and healing the land, an act of extreme selfishless where he gave up his own happiness in order to defeat queen Matlab. Maybe as an act of providence. I too love the ending, I think it is a beautiful ending with some levels of ambiguity that leaves it up to individual interpretation. As I am still very young I don't think I am qualified to answer your question though :D Regards from Sweden.
Yeah I kind of always assumed that it changed their appearance to being young again because earlier Mab did mention that they can't change the fact that Merlin will die in the fullness of time but that they can their appearance . It was kind of weird though how earlier in the film Merlin couldn't change the appearance of Nimue's burn scar but here he can make her look young .
It is by all means, a wonderful film. I've seen it 15 years ago, and i still return to it every now and then. The soundtrack is beyond words, literally every time i hear it, some tears come.. Simply amazing!
@@Ronariverah There are definitely aspects worth praising...the soundtrack, with its sort of sad yet also hopeful sounds is quite good, as is the ending, which I also find simoultaneously depressing and uplifiting at once (I can't explain why, maybe it is just me)...it's certainly underrated (also, the way they portrayed Mordred was good)
@@Ronariverah I mean...I don't know about that, LOTR was good, but Merlin was also most certainly worthy of praise...the soundtrack was/is incredible, and Sam Neil did a solid job; it's Super underrated...I really enjoyed it, and...unlike many movies from my youth, still do....
Merlin and Nimues will never be forgotten. Love is true magic.
Damn what a great wild childhood i had.
I agree. And I can say the same about mine! 🙏🏻

Hard to believe this wasn't just a couple of years ago. Love this movie.
Your comment is 5 years old....
the storytelling of this movie is incredible. made me fall in love with arthurian legend.
One of the best Arthurian legend films ever ... Up there with Excalibur
Wonderful movie, great music!
This music and the film are both beautiful

@@Cuban20 Yeah I think Mab was clearly driven to that point out of fear for her the existence of her world and her own .

Music is from the heart. If something won't be spoken can be put into the form of music.
one of my favorite movies!!!
Nimues: "Am I still pretty?"
Merlin: "Beyond beatiful, my love"

This movie helped spark and nurture a life long love for all things LARP and RPG for me. I love this movie. In all it's glitter and soap bubbles.
Beauty music from to God. Is the True
Love the ending scene the restoration of youth what would that feel like?

The end of magic ❤️
just sooooo much better than the serie....
The series are a joke compared with this movie.
YES me2, Pure Old School acting!
Technically, this is also a serie - a four episode mini serie, but a serie none the less.

Absolutely great...
It were a pretty solid movie indeed...especially considering the low budget most TV movies get
And that cast? I mean Isabella Rosselini, Sam Neil, and James Earl Jones? And Martin Short blew us away as Frik!
I remember thinking it was more impressive than The Lord of the Rings .
