Sonic Adventure 2 (Japanese: ソニックアドベンチャー2 Hepburn: Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū?) is a platform video game developed by Sonic Team USA and published by Sega for the Dreamcast console and the last Sonic game to be released for a Sega console and is a sequel to 1998's Sonic Adventure. It was released in North America, Europe, and Japan in June 2001 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game was ported to the Nintendo GameCube and re-titled Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (ソニックアドベンチャー2 バトル Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū Batoru?), with brand-new features as well as minor changes in the level design. The original game and content from Battle was released in high-definition on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in October 2012. A version for Microsoft Windows was released in November 2012.
The game takes place after the events of its predecessing game: Sonic Adventure. The series antagonist Doctor Eggman releases Shadow the Hedgehog, who joins Eggman and treasure hunter Rouge the Bat to steal the seven Chaos Emeralds. The game's story focuses on the protagonists Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and Miles "Tails" Prower as they attempt to stop Eggman and Shadow from collecting the Chaos Emeralds.

Idk if you'll see this comment, but idk why noone has made a mod that uses the "horned skull" object from dry lagoon and and windy canyon. As a kid I always wanted to use it as a chao hat for a dark chao. I used to run to complete the stage holding it sometimes hoping I could bring it back to the chao garden.
That is a good idea! I am surprised no one has made that yet. You could try and add it yourself, I do have the mod making guide linked in the description

Should be interesting. I know I’m interested in at least one of these, since I’m interested in the Chao World Extended bundle.
I’d actually been avoiding Chao Garden mods simply because I always put too much time and effort into the base version, but a post Steam Deck world is the best time to try: I can mod the Chao Garden on my laptop while all my vanilla Chao are safe on my Deck.
Edit: in terms of non-CGE mods, while I’m not too interested in increasing the number of Chao I can raise-incompatibility with CGE aside, 24 is more than enough for me-the Garden remakes look really good. Especially the Japanese Dark Garden and your revamped Hero Garden.

Imagine if Sega actually decided to put together a fully dedicated Chao Garden spinoff game with similar things to what many of these mods do. People would flock back in droves.
It's so nice that there is still a community for the cute chaos! I've considered doing chao content as well but was always reluctant because always felt like it was pretty limited (especially thanks to a certain 4 lettered company who is missing out on a community who is driven to keep it going) I'm still a bit new to mods and wish this silly Zen garden mod would work Y.Y I finally got some of the textures like the zen garden and bridge to look right but the rest just looks like the old garden even with settings like ECW's dark garden being set to vanilla/modded and making sure it is below all my other mods. Goodness this is such a new almost intimidating experience. Thanks for all the content though =D ♫ ♥

Oh dang I didn't know where was a mod scene for the Chao gardens! I always stuck with the GameCube versions of SA1 and SA2 but I do have the Steam version of SA2 so maybe I'll give this a shot!

I can't even count the amount of times I've said something like this, but the SA2 modding community is so amazing. The things people are able to do with this 23 year old game are so impressive. It's really inspiring to see the dedication and cooperation that goes into these mods, with the end results usually making it harder and harder to go back to playing without them. Mods make an already fun experience even better, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

I downloaded and tried the Green Hill Chao garden mod just after getting CWE, and now it might be my favorite mod of the bunch.
That is a good one!
An easy fix for the chao partner mod is to make it a toggle feature. Maybe before each level, it'll give you can option if you want your chao to help destroy enemies, and if the level requires homing attack chains to progress, you can switch it off.
Admittedly, I don't know much about coding, but I think it's worth a shot.
You are actually able to disable/enable that feature in the mods config files, I just usually keep it enabled since it is more fun
@@Choa I figured as such, but then you have the issue of opening the files constantly. Not to mention that it's possible this feature requires you to close and reopen the game to enact the change. (Some features do that, Idk why.)
If it has any of these issues, then maybe it's worth a shot making it more accessible?
2 hours ago i discovered Chao modding. My childhood was these gardens iv carried books worth of info of raising,racing and evolving from the dreamcast to the gamecube to PC. A nice wholesome vanilla gaming experience of a minigame a grew up maybe a little to addicted to and come back to through next couple decades to win some karate and races everyonce in a while for fun. Only for you sir and this channel to some how reveal to me a much larger much more time consuming problem to me and my social life. Im almost 30. I have a child on the way I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THIS BUT SOME HOW ILL MAKE TIME! Iv never been so excited by something thats also filled me with the dread of the limitation of time. So thank you i guess... I think i'll click that bell intentionally for the first time in awhile.

Just a heads up, Chao Data Menu is no longer supported by Justin, and will crash if used on a chao with SADX/Custom animal parts (with CWE)

An Eggman Chao is neat, but they introduced an official Eggman Chao in Sonic Speed Simulator, I hope someone can put that into Chao World Extended.

By the way Choa you can turn off your Chao attacking enemies in stages in the config menu for the Chao Partner mod!

chao garden has gone so far on the modding scale but I have a question how would I make models that look like the food or costumes for chao garden cuz I have been learning to model (using blender) and i want to make a chao mod!

I have a concept for a chao garden fan game I want to make, any idea how I go about making it? Any useful tools available already?
Ok, so after watching through a few of your videos, I bought SA2 on Steam, downloaded the SA Mod Manager and installed Chao Garden Extended (9.5.3.4). How do I access all the extra stuff? When I go to the Chao world/ hub there is only one garden. I thought with CWE you could choose between several gardens, or do I have to somehow unlock them? I also can't seem to find any of the mini games other than the basic race, though if I talk to the principal he does mention karate. Sorry, it has been almost 2 decades since I've played SA2 or Choa Garden (the main reason I played SA2 to begin with if I have to be honest) so this is like re learning it all over again. Just trying to figure out how to get the most out of this mod and figure out how to access some of the new customization stuffs. Thanks in advance!
Karate is added by the Battle DLC and the extra gardens are unlocked by evolving a dark and hero chao. You can also use the chao editor linked in the description to unlock them.

So the two Chao World mods are number 0 cuz they're basically the Sonic Adventure 2 equivalent to some of the more widely used Minecraft library mods, that add various important interfaces and classes used by many other mods?

i like the 10th mod actually! have it on my own game, tho this specific cutscene intro never plays for my game so dont get to see it really :( been a bit since i played but maybe possible to change it on mod loader i suppose
There is an option on the mod loader to disable the start up intro for SA2, is it possible you have that enabled?
Justins chao menu actually doesnt work anymore, theres glitches with it caused by cwes latest version.
Still works for me somehow, I know it doesn't work for some modded chao types though.

Hi Choa. I was wondering in your videos, how do you get chaos chao to show their eye/mouth expressions in the garden and in racing/karate? I have the "Rare chao act like normal chao" code enabled in CWE, but when i'm in the garden, only their eye expression is shown but not their mouth, and when i'm in racing/karate, they revert to their default look. Is there a way I can fix this?
That is the chaos mouths mod, it isn't available on Gamebanana like the other mods but I do have it available on my discord server if you want to check it out

I'm trying to manually download Choa status menu. After unzipping it, where in the common steam app do I place the folder. I can't find anything on th overview page.
Is there a mod that allows you to earn rings and animals/drives in the Chao garden. I mostly play SA2 for the Chao garden and it would be nice if I could just sit down and relax with Chao garden and not have to do anything else without cheating.
Really been liking Chao mods, especially Chao World Extended. Though, there is a problem. CWE lets you get SADX medals and lets Chao with race medals breed relevant jewel Chao. However, the listing on Gamebanana mentions the Pearl medal can get you Pearl Chao (which from what I can tell weren’t a thing before)…except none of the karate levels give you the Pearl medal.
My only hopes of getting any information on how to earn the Pearl medal are leaving a comment on the mod page that’s years old, and leaving this comment on something new but tangential at best. Someone please help, I am floundering in the dark here and am officially out of ideas.
The Pearl chao is a custom texture within the game, you can get one pretty easily by using the chao editor. I am guessing the mod page is referencing people giving their chao using the pearl medal using the editor rather than actually winning it, not 100% sure though.
@@Choa No, definitely not. It’s mentioned under the race medals letting you breed jewel Chao section specifically: the pearl medal from SADX lets you breed pearl Chao. The problem is how to get it.
I did find out that I’m not entirely out of luck, though. One of the toggles on CWE lets the last level of each jewel course award a respective jewel egg upon first completion; since Diamond Chao aren’t a thing, clearing the Diamond course awards a Pearl egg instead. So I now have a Pearl Chao, no editor needed. The medal is still a total mystery to me, though.

Hi! I got the Chao world extended, and blaze and silver chao mod. I was able to get blaze and silver chao perfectly fine! As well as Tails (all animals+2 reincarnations+high happiness+fly)
Its a very similar thing making Amy and Knuckles, both Amy and Silver should be set to run type, except amy needs all animals, knuckles and blaze both power type, except knuckles needs all animals. I did the 2 reincarnations, plus all animals, plus high happiness, and set to the right type for amy and knuckles chao, but they turned into silver and blaze. I tried twice and same results. Has any one else had this problem, or have any tips for me to try?
I also tried to deactivate the silver and blaze mod for a second to see, but that didn’t help
That could be because of a conflict between the character chao code and the blaze and silver mod. Your best bet would be to use the editor to simply turn those chao into knuckles and amy chao. Hope this helps!

Sega used a fan mod, seriously? Moreso "allowed" though, right, since iirc their gameplay footage is usually captured by actual fans to begin with. If it were Sega employees, like Katie or Justin/etc, using it then that would be awesome.

When launching from the Sonic Adventure 2 launcher, it says:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue (it doesn't). If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'index'.
