Hotdogs, Beer and Treflips: The 999 Challenge

Skateboarding has always been one big sausage fest. So, we figured why not actually throw one? Enter the 999 challenge. What ensued was one of skateboarding’s most glorious sporting events. No ramps, no pros, no big shoe sponsors, just a hot grill, a cooler full of ice, and straight flat ground tricks. The boys were quickly separated from the men as our twisted idea became a reality.

And then, the treflip-a trick of sublime complexity, demanding a synchronization of mind, muscle, and momentum. It is the quintessence of skateboarding, an art form that emerges from the chaotic interplay of gravity and human will. To perform one treflip under normal circumstances is to flirt with the sublime; to perform nine in this state of gastronomic and alcoholic excess is to challenge the gods themselves.
The competitors, eyes glazed with determination and intoxication, step forward into this arena of madness. Their movements are both poetic and tragic, as they oscillate between moments of brilliance and bouts of nausea. The crowd, a cacophony of cheers and jeers, embodies the fickle nature of public adulation, their voices rising and falling like waves against the cliffs of human endeavor.
