Steve I've been watching you for a very long time and it's really cool to see how much your craft has improved and how you learn from your mistakes. It's a real treat watching your videos.
LOL! This is one of the many reasons why I enjoy your show. You are not afraid to show your mistakes or weakenesses. Keep up the good job. Can you show a video on how to make a shot glass display case. Thanks
hy steve i last did woodwork 70year ago but gave it up but having watched all your vids over the last few months i have decided to give it another go thanks for the great entertainment keep up the good work
I just made this stool this week, the video was very helpful. I actually spun the seat on a lathe and I am really happy with the outcome. I know this is an old video, but thanks!
My old garage sale special stool with the leather seat covered in duct tape because it's coming apart needs to be replaced.... and I think you just gave me a reason to replace it! Thanks, Steve for your great content and inspiration.
I love your show 'cause it's informative & my wife loves it 'cause some of the things you do & your reactions to them make her laugh. Either way keep up the good work.
Nice to see I'm not the only one who can take special care to mark things and still mess it up at assembly! I noticed that jab at Matthias. That was too funny!
I made my folding leg stool simply because I could not figure out the angles and cuts for the legs on a classic stool..lol... Thank you for showing how it's done.. I'm definitely going to make one now!
'Challenging' isthe first thing that went through my head on seeing those compound angled legs Those intro jokes that tie in with the commercial are *priceless*, I hope your sponsor realises that! This would be exactly what I'd be looking for in advertising. God is in the details.
Steve I have to say the first time I watched one of your video's, you didn't really jive with me I guess is the best way to put it, but I have grown to appreciate your work and think your a pretty alright guy. Keep up the great videos!
Here in Australia we call those "Wallaby" stools. And we dont make "pocket holes" we make "Koala burrows". They're Australia's second favorite type of joint...
Thank you man for all of your videos you are alot of fun to watch you make love wood work because of your simplicity and kindness ....keep up the good work
Steve, fico feliz com suas tecnicas. Muito bom mesmo. Me supreende por ver vc mostrando as tecnicas, aprendo muito contigo, um abço e Deus te abençoe,meu amigo.
It was fun when you were confused to set the legs totally. This type of stool was my first project around 3 years ago. I used the rectangual half lap jointed instead of dowells for my stool.
Thanks, Steve. I'm planning on building 6 to 8 of these for a bar we are building out of repurposed bowling alley. I'll send photos when they are done, but first I have to build a bar made out of bowling alley, a large diameter compass and a drill press table....
LOVE the comment about being glad you have a drill press table! LOL Could you IMAGINE how hard it would be to drill those WITHOUT a drill press table? HELL!
Great build as always Steve and entertaining as well. I love the MeMo posts at the end. Especially Gavins from St. Petersburg, FL. I'd recognize that Million Dollar pier anywhere. (inverted pyramid)
You are starting to get a lot of really nice (expensave) tools and accesories. Also, nice jab about the drill press table. I just got a small Jet and plan on making a small table for mine.
Matthias W. would be throwing that drill press table out the window and getting angry! LOL!!!! He is a funny dude! This reminded me of his "why I don't use a drill press table" video he uploaded the other day.. HAHA!!! Nice bar stool Steve!
love the project. This is the first time i tested the free plans. But it turned out to be as expected - measurements in inches, so some extra work to convert it into metric for me. I am from Europe, so I can´t handle inches :-)
seigeengine In case you really didn't know, we were referring to Matthias Wandel, an engineer formerly of Blackberry, now a woodworker extraordinaire. Look him up in youtube.
Even though we can make all four feet of a stool planar, that doesn't mean that the floors on which they sit are planar. Rigid floors, whether wood or concrete can be undulating (to small amplitudes, of course) which makes our 4-legged stool still feel like it's wobbly. This won't be a problem for many four-legged stools because they will "give" a little bit and conform to the floor. But if your stool is so rigid that it doesn't conform to the floor, you can help it out by applying rubber-like pads to the underside of the feet, and that will give your 4-legged stool the "give" that it needs.
4:44 God that I love those "WTF happened ?!" moments! Thank you Steve for not editing those moments, you are a great man! Please continue your good work posting your stuff! I'll watch you 4ever!
I cut compound angles using a 'V' cradle that holds the stock on 1 corner. You just set the saw blade to the angle you want and the stock goes thru the blade square to it. It makes it easy to cut multiples to the same length as well, just use a stop block when you make your 2nd cut on all the pieces.
Drill press table, huh. I bought a HF drill press table on sale a couple months back and was going to do a review on it and whether I like it or not. I'm not sure if I want to enter drill press table-gate.
OMG....hilarious..especially the sped up part with saloon-ish music music ..it was like watching the Three Stooges without the Odd Couple. I really...REALLY enjoy your videos Steve. Shout out from Paramaribo Suriname South-America
Your Micro-jig intros are priceless. Nice legs for a man in a baseball cap. And the drill-press table wars continue. Just too funny. Dowel length can be found using Trigonometry. I like a good challenge, but I won't get married.
I really love the simplicity with which you build and teach your projects. If I get to visit Canada someday, i would love to meet you. God bless

Beautiful project it combines skills and mathematics and patience
Good job
Serving up a Stool full of compound angles with a smile and a chuckle! Good job and I loved the Opps clip as well!

I just made this stool this week, the video was very helpful. I actually spun the seat on a lathe and I am really happy with the outcome. I know this is an old video, but thanks!
Turn out nice. Looks nicer than the ones with the turned legs. Challenging for sure. I just made one very similar to yours.
My old garage sale special stool with the leather seat covered in duct tape because it's coming apart needs to be replaced.... and I think you just gave me a reason to replace it! Thanks, Steve for your great content and inspiration.
I did it! Took all stinkin day, but it is done. Turned out pretty nice. I doweled the legs to the seat in stead of pocket screws.
I love your show 'cause it's informative & my wife loves it 'cause some of the things you do & your reactions to them make her laugh. Either way keep up the good work.
Thanks for including your little screw-ups, helps me feel more human because I have those soul bolstering challenges all of the time, still I love it!
Nice to see I'm not the only one who can take special care to mark things and still mess it up at assembly!
I noticed that jab at Matthias. That was too funny!
Excelente!!!! It's a beautiful job!!! Profesor!!!! Congratulations!!! I say hello from Argentina!!!!

Laney, I've been missing your video's lately. I always enjoyed watching them. What happened????

Thanks Steve! I just finished your simple garden bench and it is amazing and a very study design. Can't wait to build this project!
Thanks, Steve. I thinks its awesome that you offer all your plans for free. I’ll be making this one for sure. Keep up the good work.

Chit Chat Minutes ... Love this project and will probably make this.
Great job with the dowels, steve!
I busted up when you made the drill press table comment. You're hilarious!
The glue up got me in stitches. Great as always!
Cheers!

Nicely designed and executed as usual, Steve. WALLABY!
Nice project Steve, I have a drill press table to and I love it LOL. The stool looks great.
Roland

Great idea! I'm going to try and adjust the design to incorporate some sort of backing on it.
Love your videos, Steve. My favorite woodworking channel.
LOVE the comment about being glad you have a drill press table! LOL Could you IMAGINE how hard it would be to drill those WITHOUT a drill press table? HELL!
_Meanwhile, matthias sits in his workshop, determined to make a jig for that_
Terezi Pyrope
That turned out very nice, thanks for sharing Steve.
Love the the bar stool

Feliz Navidad. I enjoyed making your projects. Thank you very much.
You realize Matthias is going to build that stool in 2 steps with his panto-router ... which I will enjoy watching. ;-)
Let's have Matthias do just that!
Yeah but Matthias can be pretentious
You are starting to get a lot of really nice (expensave) tools and accesories.
Also, nice jab about the drill press table. I just got a small Jet and plan on making a small table for mine.
Wonderful project, thanks Steve.

Great video Steve. I really liked the Purple Ravens gloves you wore.

Colin

2:27 Was that a poke at Matthias?
I was about to say the same thing! Haha
Ha! I wonder if Matthias will get back at him.

sorry but in what context - could you send a link to Matthias video it must have been answer?
I thought he was talking to me...i just watched him make it. Lol
wonderful episode
Useful tips and to the point. Good job!
You did a great job

nice project !
Good thing you marked those... hehe
Hey man, big fan of your stuff! Any advice for someone looking into woodworking from a basic level?
Yeah... don't think I'm ready for this one yet... but that's an awesome project, Steve! Now you can make 3 more and then build yourself a bar, right?
i '♡ so much this project... so thanks
