That truck is totally something my grandfather would have built. He bought a Ford F250 new in 1967 and made all kinds of modifications to it, all completely home-grown. Two of note were the water injection system for the carb (similar to WWII aircraft) and and a 'supplemental' cooling system for the radiator, which consisted of a 5 gallion (~20L) water bucket in the truck bed that fed a sprinkler head mounted to hit the center of the radiator at 50mph. It kept engine/trans temps down pulling the 20 foot travel trailer up the mountain passes and forest service roads of Idaho and Montana.
At the Birmingham NEC Classic car show, maybe 10 years ago, at the height of wheeler dealers TV career. Mike brewer was on stage waffling about something or other but he kept saying ”lam rowva" so I threw a half eaten apple at him. I'm a terrible shot so I hit one of his posters but I hope the sentiment was felt.
To get rid of alcohol in fuel, add water. I use those translucent jerry cans with tap/spout. You bung in 200mls/litre shake well, leave 24hrs, the water will pull the alcohol out of the fuel, leaving alcohol free petrol floating on top , you will see 2 layers form when it settles overnight. I do this for my classic motorbikes
Half way through this video my wife suddenly exclaimed, "I've just noticed Joe has real farmers ears". This statement raises two questions, what are real farmers ears and how does my wife know what they look like?
farmers ears hear only pounds and pence they only open when money is mentioned and have a recognizable "flapping" motion -some farmers in yorkshire are said to be able to hover if money is talked about -surprised u dint no that
@@chrisbartlett6022 when working for the NHS in a former life they had an old ww11 truck to carry waste no power steering and the lhs mirror use to drop which was always fun.
Somewhere, there is an Interceptor with a landy engine! What you were trying to say is 'I'm going to refit the fuel lift pump otherwise I will have a hole in the block letting the oil out'
I posted my comment before reading any others and there’s loads pointing out how amazing this thing sounds. First thing that struck me when it fired up. Incredible tone and presence
I love the external oil filter on the front bumper, just what you want for those minor fender benders or excursions into the desert where you can bash it on a rock before any other part of the LR gets there. Good planning.
Awesome to see you in a Tom Lamb hoodie, a little bird tells me, he'd be quite happy to do some sort of collaboration videos with you, maybe give him and Colin a tour of the tanks, and you go visit Tom's farm and Collins bunker. Viewers that know you would love to see the cross over. And those that don't will find new content, it's great for everyone. Drop Tom a message, I know he'll be happy to hear from you.
That adjustable spanner is a collectors piece! Hand tool rescue does reproductions based off the original patients so seeing an original is quite the feat.
I remember as a young lad in the seventies having the engineering of the early landrover explained. It was imparted from persons of experience that the original development of the vehicle began with a single starter motor suspended in free space around which they designed and built the vehicle !!
I think you may have hit the jackpot with those wheel rims….they look like original Forward control rims deep off set..pretty damn rare, and worth ( dependent on the number stamped on to the rim) a fair few bob…nice!
Really cool to watch all these young lads working on old gear. Hard to find in our days. Just a suggestion. Could you guys make a video talking a bit of your background? Where all started learning about it and then progressing from been unemployed to run your on business, time of business, what you do, how long thing take udder a restoration or a quick fix? Maybe there the equipment come about or talk a bit about all the project around etc. Anyway so much to cover I guess... keep up the good work very enjoyable. Cheers!
Bravo. Seems so many faults made the owner give up or was overwhelmed. He bought all the bits but could not do the work himself sadly, or happlily even. Glad you sorted out most of them and got his legacy machine going again. Well done.
It's so awesome. My guess is it was used for some exploring around the world. Central lock for the doors via pneumatics. An all-wheel drive system. All the spare parts in the back. The modified switch to open up the hood... it's to protect the car and/or vital parts of it from getting stolen - and who ever modified this vehicle never wanted a power steering because it would have been another system on the car that could fail whenever the car and his owner were out in the wild on their own. I love this weird beast. Seems and sounds like a car built by an adventurer. Just great
She's a beaut!!! Typical Landi - works when you give it the right juice. How about the clutch, no drag, just went in gear and axels worked like normal. Well done for finding this gem.
Fantastic Rover. I’m not usually a fan, but this one is on point. Looks like it was equipped with a Mopar starter. The smaller one is a common upgrade that replaced the old design with a faster more compact version. Pretty common upgrade in the states.
amazing! I guessed the rack for the boat. However i presume its been to Africa, with the air locks fitted for a reason. Looking forward to being wrong. Cheers Jim
sounds nice, better than a diesel, cant beet the lazy v8 burble, hope you can get it up and running properly with out to many headaches, look forward to seeing how you get on

A man of your talents will be able to get it working I suppose if I was used I would get that engine ice blasted.. but all said that engine is sounding perfect pairing like a trooper i5 from Chester UK 🇬🇧👍 Yes look at that perfect it's like watching your first child take their first steps
Your willingness to work in tight spaces never ceases to amaze me. Anyone else would have had at least the front of that vehicle jacked up, if only to avoid having to slither under it. After all, it's not like it's presenting the same space limitations as a tank.
Yeah its abit of an odd ball right enough. Its cool to see a jensen engine in a landy and that gearbox beltdriven... No adaptor plates or anything then, very interesting. I would love to see it sorted out with a modern retro fitted oil cooler and filter relocation. Probably coild do with a modern radiator and electric fan. Efi fuel carb for easy start and running. And as you said get a power steering conversion probably from an electric assist... e.g. vauxhall or honda Could really turn it into a nice mud plugging rig if you went the retro mod way. Led lights, roof bar, snorkel Ls swap 😂
Well done Gentlemen. Excellent call on the oil pressure relief valve. Fell foul of that myself once. I noticed a little weep after on the hose fitting but you've probably already seen that yourselves. Those filter housings can tend to leak if the seal is not good. We use them on the flathead Ford V8s. I made some seals myself using nitrile sheet and a knife blade on a lathe. Great stuff guys, I recently discovered your channel and am enjoying the content. Mart in Solihull.
That thing is really cool! Great color combo. Get rid of the ugly roof rack and side rack. Install a small lift kit and a good clean and polish of the body. Sort out any more gremlins in it, and you will have a damm cool shop truck. I am really Interested in how the 4x4 was set up with the belts. Just a cool rig fellows. Bonus nothing is heavy to deal with, and it's still dirty, greasy and tight spots to get at. Perfect for you guys.
Hi, In the 1980's in Daventry I heard of either Prince Philip or Charles, I forget which, on a local estate for a days shoot, lunch was held in a pub on the estate lands. A lad was given the job of turning all the Land Rovers round while they were eating, he nearly put the prince's one through a hedge as it had a V8 petrol engine opposed to al the others with diesel ones, and he was not expecting it! The one your playing with now reminded me of the tale. I enjoy your vids , thanks for putting them out.
Best sounding Jensen ive heard , the original car you had to jack up and take the front wheels of to get to the spark plugs , and you could watch the fuel gauge move when you where gunning them , very well done for an engine sitting that long
It’s the weekend and I have a load of stuff to do in our house. But I watched this instead. That is a great barn find and nice to see you gents getting it running. Look forward to the next part.
She's a beast! With that Clayton DeWandre brake master cylinder I wonder if it has the full NADA 6 cylinder braking setup? Also looks like it has 9.00x16 tires like a 1 tonne
Brilliant lads👍👍. As an extremely childish motorcyclist, that v8 sounds amazing. I'm looking forward to you finding out what all the 'inspector Gadget ' bits are for🤔.

I love these guys... Absolute zero bullshit... They work in appalling conditions, but don't seem to notice it... That Hi-vis jacket is classic...
People these days too worried about looking fancy.
I think the team is well on its way to becoming legendary...if not already :)
Ahh, the Jensen Bullworker version! The one where the wotsit is attached to the thingy next to the doofa. Makes perfect sense 😂

I think that's possibly the most random 'modded' Landy I've ever seen. What a machine!
Great to see it moving under its own power. Definitely deserves a sympathetic recommissioning and to get back on the road 👍
My thoughts exactly
Outstanding guys, 10 thumbs up from ALL he Rover fans in the USA....You made em, we LOVE em. BRAVO !!!!

Now that's a ve-hicle I would love to have. Not many know how chuffing hard it is to drive something without power steering. Good job team
I drove one of the Heritage fleet Land Rovers a few times, had 4 sets of tracks on it, no power steer, was a beast the steer when going slow 🙂
