I must have listened to this volume at least 30X, and to the other three volumes a similar number of times. John Lewis brings something to Bach that Bach didn't have, and that is superbly magical soul. Mr. Lewis' improvisations here are among the most beautiful that I've ever heard...
am very grateful to you for such wonderful words)) yes! this is exactly so)) It seems to me that I was able to bring unfading freshness even more inspiring and elevating the Heavenly Music of the Magnificent Cantor from Leipzig)) my kisses and hugs to you)))))) Sincerely John Lewis ❄️💔🌷☃️. …And Merry Christmas
Fugue No. 9 and Fugue No. 16 always relieve me of stress and anxiety. John's performance reveals how much he adored Bach. I own 4 CDs of his Well-Tempered Clavier, yet, I hope more people come to know his superb interpretation of Bach by your posting.
I love Bach, and Lewis' 4 Volumes from The Well-Tempered Clavier are my all-time favorite recordings of Bach!! This is wonderful. Thank you for posting, and yes, This should have millions of views!!
Hamid, Thanks for featuring this recording of John Lewis playing Bach. I wasn’t aware that he had been jazzing the classics. I agree it’s much better than Keith Jarrett’s Bach. What do you think of Jacques Loussier’s versions of the Bach repertoire? I love what Hazel Scott did with some of the classical piano pieces. What doesn’t get talked about much is the reverse process of classicizing the standard show tunes. The two great practitioners of this were George Shearing and Don Shirley.
Yes I did just watch it and I must say it so good so full of fine feeling that I haven't quite got over it. The soundtrack is superb including this incredible interpretation of some of the Well tempered Clavier. It almost makes me sick that I've never come across John Lewis before. The film is of course re-named in America as The Sweet Escape.
The rubbish ads that repeatedly interrupt make a mockery of this exquisite recording…… the depravity of American capitalism invades everywhere & everything…….
U can use an addblocker for a better rendition with no cuts. By the way, capitalism is not the issue but libertarianism, "the virtue of selfishness" as wrote Ayn Rand, one of the predation mood gurus.
@@yvespenhoat6775 Master Loussier would have been immensely disapppointed to see that one of his fans speaks like this about John Lewis, or anyone for that matter. Grow up.
Merci hamed, John et Jean Sébastien Bach. Quelle MERVEILLE.

I'm really glad I discovered this. Amazing music.
Thank you so much for posting these gems. These are my favorite interpretations of these works.

L'excellence et le plaisir. Voilà ce que John Lewis nous apporte.
I hear this the first time! It's amazing!!!!

REALLY nice! John Lewis manages a truly harmonous and creative blend of Jazz and J.S. Bach. This will definitely be aquired for my disk collection!
Thank so much for sharing this wonder with us!
John Lewis' rendition of Prelude 5 will always remain my favorite. I wish more musicians played it slower because of its lovely melody.
Just got home and this is relaxing to the extreme.
Thank you very much! I try to find this album for years!! It brings back all my memory!
Dios mío... gracias por compartir estas interpretaciones y gracias a ese músico por bellísima expresión. ABrazo!!!!
Absolutely my favorite interpretation of Bach! Sublime!
The Prelude No 8 at 37:20 is one of the best renditions of this fugue I've ever heard. I put it right up there with Sviatoslav Richter.
There's a very rare privat recording from Vladimir Sofronitsky in 1956 for the 853, I don't think any human can equal such a rendition.
@@hamedtriqui If you have a link, I'd love to hear it.
Absolutely beautiful.
Improvisation that starts around 31:15 is amazing.
I fully agree!
No, He is just so happy to be near another Genius and know or being achkowleged,,But he tries so well. It is not easy.
they got me back to church - heavenly moments....
Without any doubt the one and only disc I will take with me on a desert island.
Eric Leraille I fully agree
Eric Leraille On a posé la question à Jean Yanne, de savoir ce qu'il prendrait avec lui sur une ile déserte. Il a répondu : Un bateau ^^.
Je connaissais celle la : Un manuel pour construire un bateau...
Eric Leraille very smart comment!!!!!!
Hamed Triqui lol un bateau ET ce disc la
Fantástica ejecución. Sin palabras
La música es el lenguaje perfecto sin comienzo ni fin su sentido es ella misma
Nos contiene y expande

Loussier's versions are immensely superior. He sold millions of records all around the world. Lewis did not with his bach jokes
genial
👍👍👍

Fab.
18:05 ... divine moment here, y'all! Look out!
What happened at 2:55
did anybody come here after watching the flying kayak scene in "comme un avion" 2015?

What happened to the sound between 12:50 and 18:07?
Really sorry, I don't know what happened, probably a youtube glitch, all the tunes were doing good b4.
i cant hear fugue 4

La vetta più alta nell'interpretazione di Bach
Master Loussier could give him lessons.
Master loussier references John Lewis as his inspiration to improvise Bach
That may .be true. In that case, Master Loussier must have been immensely disapointed to hear such a distressful performance
