Aurora and Philip barely had any chemistry at all. Romantic or otherwise. It doesn't help that the actor who played Philip is so unexpressive and lame and does such a bad job of acting, it's not even funny Elle Fanning, on the other hand, is acting her heart every time she's on screen. I think it's because she's just very expressive and is very invested in what she's doing and saying. I also think that because Elle Fanning just seems like she wants to be there and wants to have fun, which is what I love. Whereas the other guy just seems like, "let's get this over with. Personally I really liked the movie, but it probably helps that I enjoyed the first one as well. But your review was quite entertaining and your laughing was infectious. And true, the third act battle was so insanely epic, I'd recommend the film just for that! That, and the fact that I consider this to be a better Dark Phoenix movie than the actual Dark Phoenix.
just the preview was enough to turn me off, but that was assuming it was going to _focus_ on Maleficent seeming to relearn the lesson from the first film...
This and the first one, strikes me as the pitfall of having a villain protagonist. By the end they have to become the bad guy, but until then we have to care what happens to them. My personal thought is they went too far one way and tried way to hard to justify what she was going to do. Why she's not in much of the second movie, and why so many others act very cartoony though the films.
For some reason I get a 2019 Hellboy vibe from this review. Except the first half hour was the most entertaining part of that one, the rest was painful.
It's weird that Disney decided to let this franchise die despite the initial movie doing well in the box office and it helped launch the Disney live action series.
My guess is they just made this movie because the 1st one was a hit. Still, it's bad, but it's a blast. It does have a lot of good acting from Elle Fanning, Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeifer. The guy who played Prince Philip... man was he bland. You could cut him out of the and not miss a thing. The three fairies are annoying as heck.
The one thing that keeps the film from being God awful for me is the tension (and acting) between Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeifer. Apart from that, and the visuals- the film as a whole is like the first film- one big missed opportunity.
Thank you Doug and Brad, I was spoil myself to see how the sequel is worse or better it is than the first movie, not surprised how bad it turned out. So I’m going to avoid this movie and watch Joker.
It was strange how the had the wedding in the same day after the war! Also the plot was kind of predictable and I did expect Maleficent to bring the dead fairies back to life but, she didn’t! But I thought it was a good movie and that’s my opinion to have! I know this review is not trying to discourage people from watching the movie. @@motor4X4kombat The Force Awakens had five planets blown up with shots from citizens of those planets as the beams were approaching them…
Maleficent 2 mistress of evil is the room of Disney movies
Sooooo true. YOU’RE TEARING ME APART, MALEFICENT
Hilariously bad. The only good thing in it was Elle Fanning as Aurora and her performance
I never understood why Malificent needed wings to get around. In the 1959 feature she used her staff to fold in and disappear.
Exactly
The 1959 original will always be better.
Something wrong with my vision or why are there two Brads suddenly?
it's fun to see Doug so excited by the third act
Yeah but him and Rob have a bad habit of interrupting Brad.
@@OneArmedRetroGamer They're actually better when they're with Brad. When it's the 2 of them, I can only pick up on a sentence once every minute or so because the talking over is non-stop.
I had no clue there even was a sequel planned, let alone one filmed and in theaters now.
Just started video and "Disney movie with the highest body count".. can't wait to hear how that compares with Mulan lol
These 2 are the best
I still get taken aback whenever I see the Cinema Snob and the Nostalgic Critic together in a vid.
Directed by Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Jason Voorhees
Sounds about right.
I thought that christening joke they mentioned was a reference to the couple having just had sex, then I wondered if it was a reference to Maleficent crashing the first christening. Now I'm wondering if it was a reference to both.
Aurora and Philip barely had any chemistry at all. Romantic or otherwise.
It doesn't help that the actor who played Philip is so unexpressive and lame and does such a bad job of acting, it's not even funny
Elle Fanning, on the other hand, is acting her heart every time she's on screen. I think it's because she's just very expressive and is very invested in what she's doing and saying.
I also think that because Elle Fanning just seems like she wants to be there and wants to have fun, which is what I love.
Whereas the other guy just seems like, "let's get this over with. Where's my💵💵💵💵"
damn i want to see this movie now but i think you might be overselling it
Without watching this video I clicked on it simply because Brad and Doug are in the thumbnail
It's when you let the wolf make the story of
Little Red Riding Hood...
Who is the villain now?
For some reason I get a 2019 Hellboy vibe from this review. Except the first half hour was the most entertaining part of that one, the rest was painful.
Snob theatres still have ushers that walk down the row I do it at work
Wow! He got Kane for a movie review! Peace through Power! Down with GDI!
It's weird that Disney decided to let this franchise die despite the initial movie doing well in the box office and it helped launch the Disney live action series.
My guess is they just made this movie because the 1st one was
a hit.
Elle Fanning did a good job, don't you think?
Uninteresting characters, story going nowhere and then an epic war, Sounds like Rogue One.
Alien vs predator to me.
motor4X4kombat So I’ve heard, they actually did have one, but it already took way too long before taking some time with her.
Because it’s really one of those movies where YOU have to decide and surprisingly even though there is a lot of death in it if you want to take your kids to watch it then, maybe they will have fun due to children being the films target audience! But like I said, that’s for you to decide!
It's a blast. It's terrible, and the film didn't need to exist for anything reason, but it's a blast.
Just a freaking blast!
@@chasehedges6775 glad you thought it was a blast! I will agree the plot in the movie was kinda predictable while I watched it. But the effects and designs for the forest creatures were pretty awesome! But what did you not like about the film?
@@jaistar4695 The acting was good. Elle Fanning,Jolie ,and Pfeifer were great, Most of the actors were fine.
The guy who played Prince Philip....😬😬😬🤦♂️🤦♂️. Man, was he bland or on "autopilot"
The climax was so unexpected and exciting.
Overall, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. It's like Doug said, "The first/second is eh, but then third act transforms everything."
It makes me want to watch to first one again. Just knowing how Meh/Ok the first one was to just how Holy crud, howd we get here?
The first film:😐🙄🤗"fine"
"BLAND" "SERVICEABLE"
Second:😐😐😐🤨🤨🤨😀😀😀😮🙂🙂🙂🙂😀😀😀😀
"CONSTANT DEATH"
"BONKERS!"
"WE STILL NEED TO HAVE A WEDDING."
BETTER THAN LION KING.
Dont worry Maleficient will return in Diablo IV ... Seriously she's wearing red this time.
Looking forward to the hilarious fallout from Wicked being ruined, followed then by Wicked 2 (even though there is no Wicked 2 Broadway musical).
Is that you, Doug? 🧐
Also for anyone who saw this movie, do you guys remember Philips father eyeing Maleficent?
Yeah, it was strange.
King: Hi, I was asleep.
Maleficent: I turned the queen into a goat. Hope you don't mind.
King: That's fine.
It's just... there.
What were writers even doing when they wrote that part?
I genuinely had so much fun with this movie, my favorite kind of bad I loved it
Glad you enjoyed it.
I had fun too.
Well crap, what does this mean Frozen 2 will be like? Maybe those old jokes of Frozen 2 Endgame will be true?
Love u guys together
Does this mean the car is back for good?
Yep! The car is back for good :) Back in Springfield it was more convenient shooting from our apartment, but up here it's much easier to have the car back. I still want to do content though that incorporates livestreaming and the super chat, so I may start doing more video game streaming at some point.
@@StonedGremlinProductions Always enjoyed those gaming videos. You hinted at doing a weekly show. Is that still something you'd like to do?
Asking the real questions.
Stoned Gremlin Productions Hurray! You guys are awesome, and inside the car you’re even MORE awesome! :D
Mulan is the queen of body counts.
Now I really want to see this, thanks guys.
Trust me, it lives up to the letter.

Review Walking with Dinosaurs 3D!!!
Hey, Dave shaved his head
This sounds like the best movie of 2019.
N.B. It's a PG, not PG-13
How to Train Your Dragon the Hidden World: Bad Guy doesn't kill a single person let alone dragon.
Malefecent Mistress of Evil: Bad Guy gas's everyone at Wedding.
Me: It's official. Disney will forever have more guts than DreamWorks!
Ryan Ozog I don’t think that makes it good, though.
Does beeing edgy wold make it better?
motor4X4kombat I literally just said this.
@@motor4X4kombat Well considering
how in the original book series
ending of HTYD the dragons
were nearly made extinct
by an near unleashed fatal disease
/gas, yes.
The way Doug and Brad talked
about Malificent 2 made me
think of how insane the
How to Train Your Dragon
books later get.
@@YamiSpyroX okey i know both books and movies Will be diferent but the type of tone they try to adapt would not work in the world they build in the movies, thats like killing ariel at the end of the little mermaid movie, or making Adam west batman gritty and dark, or make the hobbit big and epic as lord of the rings... Oh wait a minute! Just because the source material Is diferent dosn't mean that the adaptación will blindly follow what it says.
Great reviews guys, one more shit movie I won't be seeing, I'm now putting my money back in purse... Bonus great to see Doug Walker welcome back 🎞️
