The San Juan Triangle

In this presentation, Brian will provide a general look at the three major mines in the three best-known towns in the San Juan Triangle: The Camp Bird Mine (Ouray), The Sunnyside Mine (Silverton) and the Idarado Mine (Telluride). You’ll see a bit of the history and people associated with each locality, important facts about production and their place in Colorado mining history, and of course photos of specimens (nearly all of them from the Kosnar family collection) including all the well-known minerals like Rhodochrosite, Fluorite, Gold, Calcite, Quartz, sulfides, etc. This area is near and dear to me personally as a few generations of my family (on my mom’s side) lived in these towns and worked in these mines.
