a ranty disjointed video about one of elden rings more mysterious enemies, the oracle envoys. its a fun video but very rambly and speculative oh and at one point i get ahead of myself and explain an alternative to a theory i havent even explained yet. its good ol time

First things first, when you first set foot into Leyndell, although you are greeted by the oracles facing Gransax, I’m not sure if there’s enough environmental evidence making me think they’re heralding Godwyn’s arrival, at least not in this situation. Rather, I think that they are heralding YOUR arrival. “The arrival of a new god or new age” sounds like it would be more applicable to us than the corpse of Gransax, who Godwyn merely felled in battle ages ago.
Secondly, I’m not convinced that the oracles are albinaurics. There’s little to no evidence of any hatched cocoons at the Haligtree , or Leyndell for that matter, and no albinaurics drop white flesh. Likewise, no oracles drop albinauric bloodclots, or items signaling a direct relation to their albinauric race.
Instead, I think that upon reaching the Haligtree, the albinaurics went into cocoon mode and will be similar to what the pilgrims did in DS3, and will become something akin to the pilgrim butterflies, but the oracles I feel will become something… more unsettling…
There’s some very uncanny associations with Miquella, the oracle envoys, and weirdly enough, the land octopi.
For one, the strip of white flesh items only drop from the octopi, the giant crabs, and the envoys, but the item description basically says something about being “totally devoid of blood”, and if Miquella at least at some point fed the haligtree from his own IV drip, then in a way, he would match that description too.
Not to mention that the land octopus ovary item, which is already weird as hell, directly mentions blood in its item description, and is used to craft things that boost robustness (bleed resist).
So all these sound more coincidental than anything, but here’s where the connection gets interesting.
The nomadic merchant in north Altus has some wild inventory.
A BUNCH of different kinds of WHITE cured meat, boosting resistances to blood loss, poison, and sleep, multiple bewitching branches which are associated directly with Miquella of course, and a couple other odd items.
The rift shield in particular is interesting, in that it describes a “sinister rift” and is coincidentally the starting gear for the prisoner class, which could be yet another link to Griffith from Berserk, a series that Miyazaki constantly alludes to (I can elaborate on this but don’t want to spoil much here).
But here’s the kicker- where do we find land octopi? In MULTIPLE sites associated with Miquella. The shrine where we find the amber starlight shards, which is one of the strangest items in the game. Miquella’s path to the Haligtree, filled with land octopi.
What do we find though, all around the shrine to Miquella in Altus plateau? A ton of sacramental buds, which are pretty clearly a Miquella/ blood sacrifice reference. What do the land octopi also drop? Sacramental buds.
What I think is most frightening though, is just one line from the envoy crown item description:
No one knows what the cloth hides, but some claim to have heard a faint whimpering from inside. It must have been their imagination.
There’s something Lovecraftian under those wraps.

Ima reply to this in depth after i finish this episode of fallout but this is great insightful comment, side not on the man eating land octos is that the vulgar militants who presumably serve maliketh in some capacity, seem to breeding them in the path to the haligtree and i think the ruin strew precipice.

I’m gonna take a field trip to those two spots rn that you mentioned and will take a closer look at the vulgar militiamen and the octopi. They definitely are spotted together in multiple locations so I think it’s definitely beyond coincidence, but what would their motivations be for breeding the octopi? And do we know that ALL vulgar militiamen serve Maliketh or just those we find in Caelid outside the Bestial Sanctum?
Other stuff I forgot too:
Just outside the amber starlight grove, there’s a patrol of leyndell guards actively looking around for something. In such close proximity to the grove, it’s an unusual behavior.
- The north Liurnia merchant (I mistakenly said north Altus above), actually is also unusually with his dialogue with us:

- Also the other unique thing with the rift shield is that it specifically buffs focus, which is resistance to sleep and madness.
The oracles need to have existed before Miquella, since nobody would know what or who they are, unless they were present during the last "age changes". If they would be new beings, the golden order would have hunted them, but their music is considered divine, meaning that these strange beings have had to be around for a long time. Miquella could not have been bloodless due to his eternal youth, the tree would have sucked him dry unless he would have blood in abundance and abundance is his stick.
With majestic bongs like that, I too would think I'm an oracle who can see into the future after a good few tokes. :P

Bubble magic, at least the spells casted by the claymen, are said to be searching for lost oracles within their bubbles, hence the name oracle bubbles. So its no surprise that these envoys also use bubbles, as they sing their prophesies through their horns. So bubbles have some inherent clairvoyant powers. Perhaps the claymen were the previous envoys. Perhaps only artificial beings can use the bubbles to their full prophetic powers
the visual similarities bewteen the sun/stars/moon/bubbles is interesting
If you look at the envoys from the side, they have an odd posture. What if the ball of their lower body is their stomach? As the Albeunoric changes into an envoy, their backbones curl and their stomachs bloat with bubbles. Allowing them to bounce on their bellies. Then they take the silk from their cocoons and weave it into their silken clothing.
Some say they are playing for Miquella . I say they are playing for the tarnished. As you, the tarnished are close to ushering in your new order when you encounter them.
I think both are possible, or more likely, they just know a new age is coming. They know not who will usher it in, only that change is coming in some form
i think they're just jamming. world's messed up and they're just riding it out blowing bubbles and jamming the good tunes. even the Page in Leyndell is off his gourd playing the banger in the garden

1. Why does the Elden Beast have a scar on its chest?
2. Why did the Redmane hang pieces of gear exiled knights and soldiers all around the Castle?
3. Why is the figure of Queen Marika in the seat of the Tibia Mariners?
4. How is it possible that not a sigle NPC mentions Melina?
5. Who's corpse was used to craft the Finger slayer blade?
6. Why did the Tree and Saint House got kicked out of the Leyndell?
7. If Astel stole the Night's Sky, how come Nokstella's Moon is not restored when he is slain?
8. Was Melina also Bernahl's maiden?
9. Where do the Crucible Knights come from?
10. Did Radagon forge anything else besides the Golden Orer Greatswords? which armaments or talismans?
About the elden beast, hitting it makes shattering glass noises while its body glows.
Its moves akin to an Asteal, all flowy like swiming. Similar visual attaks (nebulas). Has warping powers. Both has wings.
The biggest difference is Elden beast is immune to bleed, rot, frost, poison, and thus it isnot "alive" by any means, but Asteal is "alive". It bleeds, rots, freezes, and can be poisoned.
Asteal mabye didn't take Nokstela's moon, but born from this moon. Haching like an egg. Its shards were used for the moon talisman and memory shards?
Finger slayer blade may be made of two or more corpses.
Drakonkin solders are a created creature made from trolls( based on thier size and empty abdamons) and dragons ( thier hearts most likely thru some type of communion)
Whos to say similar feats were used in the creation of this blade. Its all warped looking, like the dragonkin, but its blades visual resemble dung eaters sword.
The one made from a trolls spin that reduces defenses and attack of thoose in a radias. Giving off a golden haze when afflicted.
1. Sympathetic damage from the Elden Ring being shattered. It and the Elden Ring are intrinsically connected, if not one and the same. It hides inside Radagon because his Rune is the lattice holding it together.
2. Dunno. My guess is, after the end of the Shattering, alot of Banished Knights had nothing better to do than try themselves out in the Radahn Festival. These swords are all that remains of them.

3. Are you quite certain that is Marika?
4. Simple; the only sign of her existence in the physical world, the Blade Of Calling, is inside a secret office hidden behind the elevator going down to the Forbidden Lands, which in turn lead to the Mountaintops. Along with this, the Official attire in the same room denotes' it's owner job as essentially everything society shouldn't know bit needs to keep it's gears running. In other words, Melina, whether before or after losing her body, was the equivalent of a top-secret government agent. Considering how the Blade Of Calling seems to resemble the Black Knives, the Black Knife Assassins were likely once the exact same way.
5. A previous god, or something akin to a god.
Look closely at the Sacred Relic Sword; note the similarities. The Sword is obviously more..refined, but the logic is the exact same.
6. Is it not obvious? Marika isn't willing to share power! They were her predecessors, presumably; she usurped them. Those who accepted her stayed; anyone who didn't became a " worthless upstart" at the " fringes" , according to her own words.
7. Simple. There's no indication you can fix it by returning their sky. It and their sky are not synonymous. The Moon guides countless stars within the sky.
Also, I think that would require them being capable of returning above ground. Y'know, because that's where they originally were before the Greater Will sent them down.
8. Big maybe. Cut content shows his Maiden as her own character, but since that's not true anymore, and Melina is already burnt and bodiless, it is very possible.
9. They're Godfrey's Knights. Simple as that. Besides their odd transformations and regal armour, their techniques are all either lifted or derived from his fighting style( such as the stomp). Most likely, they were once savage warriors like him, who followed him as their chieftain when he was Hoarah Loux. Then, he and they had to clean themselves up for the woman of his dreams.
10. We don't know. What we do know is that he was confident ( or desperate) enough to try and reforge the Elden Ring, with limited but apparent success( it's largely coherent inside of him now) indicating that he is truly a blacksmith of the divine tier. He was also the owner of the Gokd Sewing Needle, which may or many not have inspired Miquella's Needle.
In addition, the Misbegotten are termed in files as " Radagon Chimera" with the files of their patrol routes calling " Radagon Children". This, combined with the strongest among them, the Leonine, having his distinct red hair, with one of them owning his Golden Order Greatsword and knowing how to use it properly, along with their existence being considered a " punishment" ( upon whom?) for "making contact with the Crucible ", indicates him as their possible creator.
All in all, Radagon's repertoire doesn't focus on him as a blacksmith so much as a general craftsman; a jack of all trades.

Absolute crack theory here, So, If the Oracles are 'transcended' albinaurics- do you think the "black dumpling" first gen albinauric's outfits are made in mockery of this? They are both just so oddly spherical that it makes me wonder. Either way- banger vid as always madman!

As for your theory, the idea of oracles taking different forms every era is really interesting and plausible. I don’t think they’re albinaurics however due to the presence of the claymen as you stated. The ancient dynasty far precedes the creation of albinaurics and I believe the oracles are their own, alien force that appears from who knows where but I don’t think anything evolves into them. I believe the albinaurics joining Miquella in cocooning was so that they alleviate their affliction and grow into a “better” version of themselves.
I really like your theory about the claymen having once searched through their oracle bubbles to find a sign of the end of their dynasty, perhaps so they could prevent it. Now I believe they peer through the bubbles in the hopes they will find their lost oracles in order to restore the ancient dynasty to what it once was.
One thing about the oracles I wished you touched on is the most disturbing part of them in my opinion: the fact that strange sounds/cries can be heard coming from their bulbous headdresses. Like wtf is in there and I wanna hear your thoughts on it.

As far as I know, Mohg can essentially teleport using his accursed blood. When you are invaded by one of his bloody fingers you see them appear from blood, I think it’s this in conjunction with his wings that he used to reach Miquella’s cocoon.
If I'm correct, I remember hearing the haligtree was "watered" by Miquella's blood. So that way have something to do with it. Plus, some albinurichs serve Mohg.
As much as I do like your theories, I believe the oracles at the Haligtree could be there for Malenia as when you defeat her after her second bloom, there's a third bloom after her death, meaning in time she'll ascend to being a true goddess, thus why the oracles are there. Miquella is gone from the tree, and since the oracles are these mystical beings, they would know where he went and worship him, but since Miquella has departed to the land of shadow, only Malenia resides in the haligtree, still a 11/10 video though as always.

Yeah definitely. Theres gonna be more dark souls 3 stuff for sure, i plan to do one on the lords of cinder as well as pontiff and the lothric royal family. I just gotta grt that behemoth of an aldia video of the way first. But definitely expect some dark souls 3 stuff in the near future

I hadn’t played Elden Ring in about a year. In prep for the DLC I fired it up last night and found myself in the middle of NG+, forgetting everything, in the middle of the capital, and I run into these guys. I thought, “what the hell even are these guys? I wonder if Madman ever put out a video on them?” - and here we are.

I don't know if I buy that the envoys are albinaurics. Their blood is pale, but so is the blood of every other creature that drops white flesh like crabs and slugs, and they also don't drop albinauric bloodclots. Maybe the oracle envoys could be related to the albinaurics in a roundabout way, if the envoys inspired the creation of the claymen, the Nox were inspired by the ancient dynasty to make the silver tears, and the Carians were inspired to make the albinaurics from the Nox. But the problem with that is the claymen don't seem explicitly artificial, their ashes just say they're "the warped remains of priests" which sounds to me like they used to be people but had undergone a transformation. Maybe the original Japanese text might be more clear, but that's just my thoughts. Thank you for the great video that made me think more about these enemies that I had always overlooked. Your ideas and the evidence you bring are as interesting as always!
Very interesting stuff, especially the cocoons in Elphael never thought about the link in that way. I do love some unhinged speculation as that really gets you thinking, but I always thought the Oracle's in Layndell were for the player tarnished.
Some unhinged speculation of my own after watching this was what if the Big and Medium Oracles were birthed similarly or by the same person as the Godskin Nobles and apostles since they have similar physical traits 😅

As a sci fi fan who has a particular fondness for the whole "extremely high tech civilisation collapses and thousands of years later, people have almost entirely forgotten their origins, with the misused remains of the fallen society being regarded as magic by the ignorant" thing, Elden Ring really gives me some nice food for speculation

I was wondering if the clay men were even more analogous to albinaurics and the oracle envoys…artificial creations of the Dynasty, and later oracles of a different disappeared/banished/dead god, one associated with the primordial current or the moon or something.
When I first saw these Oracles... I laughingly thought they were snowmen at first.
Some say that the ones in keyndel are heralding the tarnished champions arrival and i agree that its a possibility but they dont really become a god at the end, godfrey didnt become a god he was just lord consort to a vassal god of the greater will. like what mohg was attempting with miquella. Atleast thats my read on it

I never thought about the Frenzy Flowers being near regular Astel, the Malformed Stars being connected until now, it makes sense, Stars of Darkness near the Yellough Anix Ruins. Also if you think about the Malformed Stars came from the Greater Will, just like the Elden Beast, and maybe the Malformed ones could be associated with the Three Fingers instead of the Two, since that blind girl Hyetta tells you the story of the Three Fingers and they are also involved with the Greater Will

Doesn't the clay men's bubble magic say they are searching for lost oracles? Wouldn't this suggest that the ancient dynasty already had contact with these beings? If so then what would they be doing there? Did a god appear in the civilization of the Ancient Dynasty? Since there is a theory that the numen were the ones who created the ancient dynasty or at least mixed with this civilization at some point, could this god have been Marika? maybe even the Gloam eyed queen?

I personally understand that these guys are heralds of gods/lords, not specific ones, just heralds of new orders.
You see then in Leyndell, which could be interpreted as them hailing the coming of Godfrey, Godwyn(as a god of the dead being below Leyndell and ushering the age of dusk) and/or the Tarnished as the new Elden lord.
And in the Haligtree hailing the birth of Miquella(Unlikely as he was kidnapped) and Malenia as the GODDESS OF ROT, which actually happens in game(phase 2) before you kill her.
As for the mudmen connection, I like to think that in this context they are tied to the blue fairy from the dancer legend given that they are, well, muddy... the lake of rot do stand in an Uld ruin, so its feasible to assume that the swordsman, fairy and god of rot coexisted with the mudmen during their peak, maybe the mudmen oracles were hailing a new order at their time, a god of water or a god of rot, in some age before the Golden Order and the mudmen desperately cling to the notion that if they see the oracle again it means their water god is coming back, purely headcanon ofc.

Trying to find lore on these pillow-people is tough. I'm working on a Bard tarnished, someone who studied under the Envoys (the same way Corhyn "studies" Goldmask, since they don't seem to talk much) and played a support role in Godfrey's army before the exile. Being a classic charming bard, it explains why all the friendly NPCs inexplicably trust us, and why Ranni doesn't mind us as a consort. Wanted it to be as lore accurate as I could get, but there's not much on them other than mysteriously appearing and playing their trumpets.
It's tough playing a magical musician when all I can use is the 3 envoy horns and the harp bow, but it's still more weapon-instruments than the Souls series had. Wanted to run a Bard back then too but never could

The thing about Albinaurics turning into Oracles might tie in with Lauretta leading them to a haven, a "promised land." Perhaps this is their divine reward for their earthly suffering. Maybe this has happened to the exploited in ages past. Like you said, this form of Oracle might just be how they look based on who was uplifted in this "cycle."
Or as an alternative, maybe it's like that episode of VOY "the next Emmination" where someone dies and the body naturally produces a cobweb like substance. In the episode they just die and are teleported by an anomaly to an asteroid far away, but the idea of death being the beginning of a new life is one of the most common in almost all world mythology. I like all your videos man but this one in particular really got me thinkin. And bonus props for raising a good point using a clip from one of Nick Cage's finest films. God damn I love this channel
Notes:
The idea that each age's oracles could come from different sources is quite an interesting one; I'd assumed that the Envoys were in fact their only form, and that they weren't the evolved form of Albinaurics so much as the " superior" version; the ones not created by human hands. It would explain why they are accepted at Leyndell's premises unlike us, the Tarnished; as their bubbles indicate, they are blessed with gold, and may possess grace.
I disagree that there is little to signifiy their allegiance to the Greater Will, if only for one reason;
The system they are part of is of it's design.
The succession of ages. The birth and rise of Empyreans to be chosen by the Fingers and race their way to godhood, the Elden Ring, and thus dominion over the Lands Between.
This process is mediated by the Greater Will's meesengers, the Two Fingers, and has likely been so since before Marika ever became a god. The Gloam-Eyed Queen is an example of a rival of Marika during her younger days, herself an Empyrean chosen by the Two Fingers, long before Ranni, Miquella and Malenia were born.
As you said, the jewellery of the Envoys possibly depicts the sun; their horns are golden, as are the bubbles summoned by them, inflicting Holy damage; in the words of the Gravel Stone Seal:
"The worship of the ancient dragons does not conflict with belief in the Erdtree. After all, this seal, and lightning itself, are both imbued with gold."
To be imbued with gokd is an indication of serving what amounts to a single power. The Ancient Dragons and the followers of the Erdtree may have had different individual " gods" like Marika and Placidusax' god who abandoned him, but at their core, they both serve the same power, and have the same source;
The Greater Will. The sender of the Golden Star. The creator and master of the Elden Beast, and the forger of the Elden Ring.
With Miquella's Needle, one may be able to free oneself from the influence of an Outer God like the Flame Of Frenzy, but it does not cause you to lose Grace. That is for a simple reason; it cannot. It is not designed to counteract the influence of the Greater Will itself. Indeed, it may be that the source of it's power lies in an application of the Will's own authority.
Regarding for whom the Envoys call in the Haligtree...
As tempting as it is to say it is Miquella, that would require them to be present in Mohg's mausoleum as well.
Sadly, Miquella has failed for the time being. The envoys do not visit him; at least, not his body.
No. They're blowing their horns for someone far closer at hand;
Malenia.
Goddess Of Rot.
The Envoys do not choose which age they announce or predict. They simply come, and blow their horns. It matters not for whom, or what age they might bring.

I have nothing to say on this. I am still baffled by it. Is it perhaps an indication of their method of reproduction?
this is such a good comment, I have been theorizing for a long time about how elder dragons are ancient servants of the greater will, I believe that all Empyreans can be part of the same divine lineage, all the Empyreans we know are Marika's children from one way or another, Miquella and Malenia were born Empyreans because they were born from a single god and obviously this is due to Radagon and Marika being the same person, we can assume that this is because they are both the same person, they also have the same DNA and because that their children are of pure divine blood, I don't think this is mandatory to be an Empyrean (I think the fact that Ranni is also even though she is the daughter of Radagon and Rennala is to show that this is not the rule for all cases) I believe that being born from a single god only makes you one, being born from a god and his consort would then be a matter of luck to be born as an empyrean
with this I also believe that Marika is also the daughter of a god, specifically the god of Placidusax, I would like to highlight the fact that in the original Japanese instead of saying that the god of placidusax fled it actually says that he disappeared, I believe this could indicate that this god is dead

Just as Ranni sought to end the Golden Order, Marika sought to end the order of her own rivals and predecessors. Rebellion is not a new convention, but tradition. Each rebels in defiance of the sins of their forefathers, and ends up carrying their own.
A circle. Stagnant, and eternal. What Marika sought to prevent.
The prophets see the flame of ruin in their visions; it, and other forces like it, are instrumental to Order...
But the Golden Order was founded on the premise of being the " end". Of being " perfection". Eternal life and bounty.
Marika's fanciful and terribly naive dream.
We do not know whether there has ever been a peaceful passing between ages, but I personally doubt it.

My take on the cocoons was that they're part of Miquella's promise of salvation that was interrupted when his egg was stolen (rebirth, renewal, whatever. Since albinaurics and the misbegotten aren't part of the normal scheme they came here to try to achieve that. No second gens can be found there, though... Maybe they were created after the place was established? Timeline's always fuzzy for me)

Have you heard about head binding? The Mayans used to do it (also famous Heralds of the apocalypse). Why it matters is that Albinaurics have froggy heads, but if you were to wrap the top of their faces/heads and their chest/legs very tightly, you'd get an elongated neck and a regular face with a giant bulb of the remaining head...parts hanging off the back.
Think of a balloon animal style oblong balloon. Wrap tape around the bottom so it maintains the bulb shape, then squeeze it on the middle to create the head bulb. Wrap that with tape. You'll end up with a long skinny part in the middle.
This is the best I can do without showing you. Hopefully it makes sense.

Its not. I literally took time out of my day to make this in pics art. All i did was photoshop the concept arts of the hooded bros and put them over a picture of the ablinauric villages concept art and then used a watercolor painting filter.
