- Dual screens and why you're not able to move the mouse to your second screen correctly, is what we look at in this video tutorial. We're using a Windows 10 PC. We provide an easy fix, step-by-step tutorial.

OVERVIEW 👇
Installing or replacing a dual screen or creating a multi monitor set up with two screens can cause issues with the setup of your mouse. This is related to monitor alignment or monitor arrangement, so the mouse doesn't move correctly between monitors. This can be more pronounced with monitors of different resolutions.
This video assumes that you have a multiple display setup and you have chosen 'extend these displays' and NOT 'duplicate these displays'.

🔴 Issue 1: Monitor Mis-alignment - Dual Screens Not Able To Move Mouse To Second Screen
The problem - it's very difficult to move your mouse to the second screen as highlighted. When you're able to move the mouse cursor to the second monitor, mouse goes off screen on top left of the right hand monitor and appears bottom left of screen on left monitor. So the mouse is not lining up. So from a workflow or productivity point of view this is impractical. There is an easy fix!
✅ Solution 1: Align two computer monitors correctly.
1. Go to display settings - type 'display settings' in the search box bottom left of screen.
2. Choose 'duplicate or extend to a connected display'.
3. When display settings page opens, go to 'rearrange your displays'.
4. Check which are monitors 1 & 2, by clicking 'identify', so you're working on the correct monitor.
5. To align the displays, drag them into line as shown and click 'apply'.
6. You're done! If the issue was monitor misalignment, this should have been corrected. You should be able to move the mouse to your second screen correctly, as well as relevant apps you're using.
🔶 IF THE ABOVE DOES NOT FIX MOUSE CURSOR ISSUE, SEE ISSUE & SOLUTION 2 BELOW 👇
🔴 Issue 2: Monitor Arrangement - Dual Screens Not Able To Move Mouse To Second Screen
The problem: whilst the mouse can move to the second screen, and is aligned, you have to go to the far edge of one monitor and the mouse then appears on the opposite far edge of the second monitor. You can't move your mouse to the other screen easily / logically. Again from a workflow/productivity standpoint, this is not good. Again there is an easy solution.
✅ Solution 2 : Arrange two PC screens correctly.
1. Go to display settings - type 'display settings' in the search box bottom left of screen.
2. Choose 'duplicate or extend to a connected display'.
3. When the display settings page opens, go to the top of the screen to 'rearrange your displays'.
4. Check which are monitors 1 & 2, by clicking 'identify', ensuring you're working on the correct screen.
5. You'll need to rearrange your displays. Drag the monitor across to the relevant position (opposite side) on screen using your mouse as shown. Ensure the screens are also aligned.
6. Click 'apply'.
7. You're done. If the problem was a monitor arrangement issue, this should correct things - you should be able to move the mouse to your other screen correctly i.e. across centre of the screens.

@@oirasor15 I just unplugged my second monitor, restarted my pc, made sure my mouse and monitor options are on my MAIN screen, (my left monitor) and plugged the 2nd monitor back in so it would appear on the monitor options. was able to put the 2nd screen in its correct place because my mouse and options were on my main screen, being the left one.

I have no problem with the mouse, but when i drag windows, as in diffent tabs on my browser, it gets stuck and stops, yet the mouse keeps moving. I can't find any help on this :'(

Do you know if there's a way to stop the mouse catching when transitioning between screens? It's like if you run the mouse along the top of the bottom there is a wall on both monitors and you have to move it up or down a tiny bit to go across. Both monitors are the same size and resolution and lined up exactly the same
Late to the game here, but did you find a fix?
My problem is, I can't get to the minitr 2 no matter how many times I restart my laptop, to UNCHECK that. And then when I unplug the second monitor which is currently labelled as moniotr 1, I can go to the main monitor which is labelled as monitor to which is my laptop screen. Now the problem is I can't adjust any settings for dual displays because I only have one display now because my other monitor is now disconnected from my laptop. Do you see where my dilemma is? I am literally sitting here in tears because I'm so frustrated. I'm literally ready to throw everything in the garbage this walk away from it all. All this started because streamlabs wasn't working. And I've spent weeks trying to troubleshoot the bullshit in there. So I finally said forget it and did a factory reset and now I'm stuck here.

Thank you for this video! Is it possible to align two monitors of different resolution? I noticed that by default you can move the cursor FROM the screen with bigger resolution TO the screen with smaller resolution ONLY when your cursor is within the right "vertical range", otherwise the cursor will just stop at the edge of the monitor with greater resolution and won't move to the next monitor. I wish there was a way to scale monitors with smaller resolution so moving cursor would be easier...
