- Quinn and Rich are hitting the river again for a high-energy, action-packed bowfishing adventure. They discuss how you can get into the sport of bowfishing for little cost and show you that it doesn't take much gear to get started.
I’m 15 me and my best friend recently bought a 16 foot job boat and we already had our elk hunting bows that we set up with ams reels and we spent our life saving on this boat and ended up shooting over 1000 Buffalo carp and 500 carp just this year we’ve never had so much fun in our lives thank you for getting me into bowfishing and I love your videos keep it up
Start selling fish! You could make the money back for the boat in a couple years for 10-20$ per fish, times that by 1500 (750 for 10$ and 750 for 20$) and you get 22.5k, that is if you get good fish. Selling fish is a good way to make money! Even if you only get 11.2k a year that is still very good! You make money and hang out with your Best Friend, what could be better?
If you split it it's still 6.6k a year. If you get 16875$ per year that is still very good, do that for a couple of years and you got a good apartment, if you both work jobs you can also rent an apartment and all that jazz, it is a fun activity and you make sustenance from it. You lose no fun and can secure a better savings account.
Grenna Green boss where are u from I don’t know anyone who would buy carp around here
@@BoaresAddja $10-20 per fish, for carp? And a good apartment for $16k a year? Firstly, bowfishing will leave a hole in fish, not good for the meat to say the least, plus you would need to keep them on ice etc to keep quality. And the fact its carp....
@@stephencooper9753 I really dont know anything about Carp since they are not here where I am.
@@BoaresAddja So you just assumed they are worth $10 - 20 each? :-) Yeah, not likely to get much at all for them for meat. Some places use them for fertilizer, and while a few people eat them, they are unlikely to pay much at all for it, seeing as how they are so plentiful usually.
Thanks for making your local river a little bit nicer for the native fish species.
Watched it, great stuff! Just the idea of being out there on beautiful day and having fun together, man that is the best. Makes me look forward to Spring Turkey Hunting. Since the hunt is only allowed till noon, I usually spend the afternoon fishing. Can't wait! Turkey hunting in exciting, you should both go out and film it. Would make a great video!
We might sometime...good to hear from you. Hope all is well.
realhuntingtv how heavy are your bows
Hi I like your videos got a recurve bow and drum reel going to start I live in Tennessee can't wate to see new videos keep up the good work
reminds me of good times when I bowfished with my cousin Eddie..thanks for a good video.
Sick video! Looks like loads of fun. I'm going to look into getting a rig.
Awsome video I've been doing this sort of thing since I was 7 and I'm 11 now I just got a diamond archery infinite edge pro and it is the best for hunting fish, small game ,deer and a lot of other animals.
I'm 12 and I bought an AMS Retriever over the summer and I just bowfish from land. I shot my first Asian carp from a local pond.
ams is the best.if it ant ams i dont go on my bow
do you live in colorado
+Richard Allen who
+Richard Allen No, I live in Indiana.
Nicholas Wingler where do you live in Indiana
Great video. With 3 foot of snow on the ground I shouldn't have watched this. Now carp fever is setting in. Hey Quinn don"t Richs white legs blind you at times? Good shooting men! Cant wait for your tournament video! You two have made huge improvements in shooting!
Good shooting!! I like the intro about the boat and gear!!
Thanks,
Tim
I also shouldn't of watched this with all the rivers and creeks frozen over.. I can't wait for spring!!!
I really enjoyed watching this video! You guys were just out there for fun, which is what I like to see! Keep up the good work, and thanks for making this video! And when you said go out with your bow and an old pair of shoes, that's what I always do! :D
Thanks for watching and good luck this season.
Thanks!! you too!!
did you guys mount your fishing reel to the bow?
You dont really need to bowfish off a boat.
If you cant afford one you can just look for a shallow spot near shore that is sunny. Carp love to come up in the shallows to "sun" during the warmest part of the day.
Can't wait to get into bow fishing. Thanks for the ideas!
I like you guys so far from what I've seen and you guys make me want to go bowfishin so keep it going and teach me more.
Need more bowfishing videos! I am just getting into the sport, and I've watched all your bowfishing videos. Thanks for the vids!!!
Thanks for watching.
I've watched this video many times.....it is one of the most entertaining and enjoyable one you guys have....ever hunt silvers or bigheads???
When landing them I noticed u guys have a lot of fish falling off the arrow, you should use a gaff. I use that and it's very effective and doesn't take up as much space as a net. Great video!
Nice video! I used to bowfish about 35 years ago. Looks like I need to get back in it!
Great video hope y’all still out doing this kinda thing. Bowfishing on a budget is my motto lol can’t afford much but I get fish all the time walking the banks or wading in the wetlands.
You guys are amazing shots..... Really enjoyed the video. I have a bow and Im now kind of thinking about doing this soon. Great job guys!!!
Really great video, thanks for the explanation guys , looks like was really fun time.
That's a great video I would love to get into a bunch of carp like that
This is so surprisingly enjoying to watch, I really wanna do this once!
What do you guys do with the carp you shoot? I am new to the sport
I could watch this all day
I enjoyed your video! I have done carp fishing in the past and would love to get back into it.
Awesome trip! Can't wait to do sth like that in the future. :-D Thanks for the video.
Even if your just starting out I would seriously recommend getting the AMS Bowfishing reel. It is well worth the money and will last forever. Faster reloads, more reliable string, no tingling line or any non-sense that takes time away from shooting.
We've tried the AMS and prefer spinners. Both are good systems.
What do you guys do with these carp you kill?
this is the most American thing I've ever watched haha
+Lawrence Smith The indegenous peoples around the world who have practiced this for eons might disagree.
+Dirk Mcgriff this is for sport they don't eat the carp my guess is they use it for fertilizer.
dank jr I understand that is most likely the case, though some actually do eat carp.
I know this is an old video but for anyone finding it late like me, another good alternative to a boat would be a paddle board, you can usually find them cheap and they are made to stand up on. Just tie a bucket to the front and get a long pole or stick and your good to go.
Good to see u guys back to uploading videos
Thanks, getting caught up on some footage over the winter.
love to see more of this, awesome video!
Love your guys bowfishing videos. Keep making more.
We will. Thanks.
cant wait for summer, me and my buddy tucker have the same set up. nothing better than two buddies slayin carp in the river!
We agree.
FINNALY NEW VIDEOS YES THANK OU GUY SO MUCH I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL THE BEST OF ALL OF THEM
Thank you.
your welcome your gizes show is great and im just starten out and i love the advice ive been hunting for maybe four years now and i would love to do some bow fishing your pa hunter ,zack
Great video! I like using 65lb braid.
Nice arrow retrieval also
Great vid @realhuntingtv I was wondering what line you use on the 808? And also what state are you in?
great video, nice shooting, editing and thank God you didn't feel the need to play music the entire video
This is awesome! I have a friend who lives on the river, so this could be possible for me!
glad your back guys can't wait to see more videos
Thank you.
"This pike is looking at him like 'what that he'll just happened"😂😂😂...great video, great team
Awesome video. Really enjoyed it..!
I love bowfishing im 13 and ive been fishin sence i was 6 my dad started fishin with a troller and then a fanboat and now we have a airboat i dont live on the river but we find somewhere to go fishin and i love it. Also another place to look for bowfishin equipment is bowfishing swap and shop
Is there anything I should look for or avoid when buying a bow for fishing? And can I use a fishing bow for general target shooting when I'm not fishing?
Alright! I havent seen it yet but looking forward to this video!
Look on amazon for an inflatable boat. They have really durable ones for around 60 dollars. You can t a trolling motor for around the some price. Some of them you can also mount an anchor.
Michigan boy here. Love your videos you guys are good role models for the youth. Any bowfishing videos for 2014 ?
What do you do with the fish you keep
I'm a junior in high school and me and a couple buddies are restoring a pontoon for carping in the summer..
awesome, I am going soon for the first time.
What do you do with the carps after?
Few questions I have
1.) what type of sunglasses should you use ?
2.) how many arrows should you have in the boat?
3.) what size classic drum should you use ?
4.) I know carp is good for bait and gar is good for planting, what are some other options things you could do with the fish ?
5.) best arrow head for bowfishing ?
Thank, Nate from Michigan
Polarized, at least 2 or 3 arrows, Ams anchor points,
Donate the meat to the homeless shelter
just wondering what do you do with the barrel full of fish when your done? you can only eat so much....
you don't eat these fish
john norris All my carp I deliver to the Birds of Prey rehabilitation center. I certainly don't eat them, but the Hawks and Eagles love them.
JLeetle Actually you can eat carp, a lot of Eastern European dishes use carp in various forms (boiled in broth, ground up and served cold as fish balls in gelatin, etc.). If it's prepared properly the taste is not bad.
There's a lot of folks around that smoke it also was trying to figure out what they were doing with the quantity that they were shooting
In my state it is illegal to just dump a fish on the side of the river or lake
what do you do with the carp
What river are you two on because I live in Michigan and I just what a few bow fishing spots around where I live in flint
We have decided to not mention our locations anymore. When we do we get a LOT of company. Do a search on the Michigan Sportsman forums and I bet you'll find some info about places to bowfish in your area.
Cool video. It would be awesome if you had a polarized lens cover so we could see the fish too!
This video is damn near therapeutic to watch.
Man I loved the video. I was thinking it was to much to get into but thanks to you guys now I know I can get into it. What do you guys do with the fish?
A side people need to consider is the simple fact that hunting is not only either sport/fun or food. Some people, like myself and these men, are shooting primarily trash fish. In my area, we kill Gar and Carp (and carp fish IE buffalo, asian carp) Gar are a toothy long nose fish that dominate eco systems. If not pulled from the water, they will kill the eco system. Theyre like a sharks in a guppy tank. That is not an exageration to make a point.
Furthering the issues of gar, they eat anything. That means all the game fish too. Walleye, bass, catfish, rare paddlefish, therer own, they don't care.
Carp eat nonstop, focusing on algae and moss. Thats good, but in the extreme numbers these fish reach, they will eat it all and ruin the natural filtration of the stream or pond.
So I, and a small group of econauts with spend all summer pulling these fish out of the water by bow, net and line, killing them quickly and and tossing them back in to promote the growth of our dwindling catfish populations. Numbers come back over winter and spring and we go back at it.
Good essay .
A a
"Trash fish" that sums up the type of person you are
No, that is the name for these types of fish. They trash the ecosystem. Don't twist my words to prove your point
Colton Norman Agreed, my first job was at the NFWS training center under the YCC, they taught us all about the invasive species in the area and we even got to go electric fishing! These people that piss and moan about harming animals just don't get that most of us actually know what these species are doing to the environment and we are actually encouraged to keep the population in control. (Well, in some areas near me at least.)
Old bows are perfect. Usually find a 50# draw which I think is about perfect and low let off and built tougher and cheap
you guys need to bring a Gaff or trident or a net, looks like a lot fall off before you can get them in the boat.
Thats wat I was thinking! They leavin a lot of injured fish.
Garage sales are the best place to find treasures. Bought a $250 compound bow for $3.
Do you have any ideas with how to dispose of your barrel of fish when you're done? Thats my biggest challenge figuring out right now... thanks!
G'day, do you have any advice for beginners ?
I've watched bow fishing on video like this, but not everyone has calm, shallow estuaries to play in. I really appreciate the low budget approach but can it also be applied to other target species ?
what type of reels work best on bows for example, and can a bow be used to launch bait from the shore line ? to fish for salt water species?
Thinking about trying bow fishing. I already own a compound bow for hunting. Would I be able to use that bow for fishing too? An any tips for someone new getting into this type of fishing?
Great video guy I hope you can do more
That looked like one hell of a good time! You guys probably rolled past our high school party spot aye?!!
what do you do with the fish that you shoot?
Free bait i guess
I've never seen someone so talented at loosing fish right at the boat.
Fa real lol dam I started felling like I was losing 🐟
Hey I was just wondering, What do you guys do with the fish you shoot? II was just wondering because i want to start bow fishing but I don't know what to do with the fish?
Carolyn Harrell use them for fertilizer, or bait for hunting.
Carolyn Harrell Carp are trash, very few people eat them. On top of that they are an invasive species thats why there is no limit.
Carolyn Harrell you can smoke them, smoked carp isn't too bad.
What kind of cameras were you guys using to film this video and where can I get one? Thanks...
You guys are Some FISHKILLERS! awesome Vid!
Good shooting guys, they'll make a tasty campfire meal. Could have finished off the fish with a mallet befire you dropped them in the barrel, you are hunters after all!
What is your favorite line to use with a Zebco 808? Power Pro? Monkey Wire? What lb test?
Hey Rich and Quinn, I'm so envy you guys. We don't have that kind of river in Taiwan. We only can get 20 cm fish......
How do you guys feel about using sights bowfishing? ive heard some do and some dont
Hey there, ive recently purchased a compound bow.. should of probably watched this video before hand and just looked for a second hand one instead of buying brand new but im happy.
I was wondering, how i would install a reel onto my bow ?
I mean, wouldnt it effect the accuracy by throwing it off balance and etc ?
Thanks for the comment, unfortunately its of no use to me now as i found out i got the wrong information and bowfishing in my state here in Australia is actually illegal in any shape or form!
Ahh, i am sorry to hear that. So crazy how youtube can connect the world like it does. I'm from Illinois and we've heard our government has spent $80milion this year to kill these carp. If you ever come to the states shoot me a message and we will get you on some fish. Have a great day
Thanks mate, appreciate that alot!
Goodluck in the future!
Great vid, but what do you do with all those carp?
What kind of bows are you using and what do they draw weight and length
You guys should mount a circular polarizer on the lenses of your cameras. It would eliminate the reflection on the water and allow the camera to see into the water better. Awesome video but with a polarizer it would be amazing.
I signed in just to like this video. This was a very good video and shows about just how i like to bowfish and is just a good video to show people you dont need the best to have fun. Great video
Thanks for taking time to comment.
very very nice and fun., That river is beautiful and unspoiled! What river is it?
Great video. I am new and just bought a reel for my bow it's a reel that you have to pull in by hand. How do you connect those reels to your bow. I have a Mathews mission craze
Awesome vid and great balance
Looks like fun, but at the same time I would get the feeling that it's too easy and takes the fun out of the sport of fishing. There is so much more that goes into play when fishing with just bait.
These guys need to learn if they see the arrow tip has not fully penetrated the fish through both sides, to use their hand to thrust the arrow all the way through before they attempt to boat the fish. Only way them on board without the risk of loosing them.
I love bowfishing and my bow goes threw the damm fish it's crazy I didn't think it would have that much power... I haven't shot any huge monsters yet but I have shot a couple 3 foot gar and it goes right thru all the way
Dammit I spelt that wrong I meant shot... lmao I do not shit huge monsters
That's one honeyhole! Shame you lost so many of the fish you injured though.
They are carp (junk fish) that's why it legal to shoot then and not the bass and pike (non junk fish) if the junk fish die its mor ever then it will ever be bad
Carp actually are invasive, but I still hate wounding something and not killing it
I wanna give it a try there's a great carp spot 10 min from my house but what do do with all the shot fish?
Hi! Would you mind telling me what river this was on?
Dont know if u said it and i missed it but whats the draw weight on the bows you use?
Do you eat any of them or how do you dispose of them if you don’t? I know some aren’t very good.
Great video guys. Was wondering what draw weight you recommend for bowfishing. I use my deer hunting bow for fishing, but I don't really like pulling 70 lbs. all day while bowfishing
We typically start around 50#. If the fish are deep we turn 'em up...shallow we turn 'em down.
thanks guys
Hey can you send me a personal video on how to attach a fishing reel to a bow? What did you use for line, arrow, and the arrowhead?
You gotta use a net man! hahaha but bowfishing looks cool.
hey guys I know this is an old video however, how do you guys feel about building a diy arrow from a 5/16 fiberglass driveway stake?
Looking to get into bowfishing what do you suggest for a bow and reel
do you need to aim high or low to compensate for the refraction of the water? ive never tried this but would really like too though im not that good with a bow
Megalixer84 low. also depth of the fish comes into play. the more you do it, the better you get at guessing the depth of the fish, and knowing how low to shoot.
pretty cool video. no need to get fancy to have fun. the great thing is, a person does not need to spend much at all to get started.
Thanks.
