Brilliant video Tony full of laughs and information, them heels look like a cows foot , Tony’s wearing a moose’s knuckle 😂, I have a very wide girth foot so I will have to look elsewhere for a mountaineering boot
Ah you're the mysterious Big Foot roaming around 😆 meindle do wide feet
Scarpa runs narrower I believe like these
Good luck in your search
@@TonyHobbs you’ve uncovered me 😂
Been trying to keep that a secret
I’ve used mendiels in the past lovely boot
I love to sniff new boots , once got chucked out of Ellis brigham for random boot sniffing 😂
You must have been floating out so high on boot scent 😆 I think it's about the only opening I'm likely to get a whiff of knowing my luck 😆 🤣
You do crack me up tony 😂
You should see me editing occasionally nearly choke myself with laughing so much 😆 and 99.9% is adhoc just springs to my mind at that second and tbh it's one of if not the reason I started long ago is the mental fun and laughter 😄 thankfully there's a few more of you not just me who had a sick mind to watch 😄
@@TonyHobbs 🤣🤣
Tony great video I have these in the ST version and I’ve used them on normal hikes with scrambling the best all round boot out there in my opinion and I’ve done miles in these are are so comfortable 👍
From a user that's lovely praise indeed thank you
I found them very comfy immediately on my trip to Peaks bit hard on foot first day but by second day incredibly comfy particularly for a boot. Thank you so much for lovely comment
ty for a great vlog.. those la sportiva are fab..... the only problem with them i had to go 2 sizes up. so 11 to 13..... and before you say it men with big feet equals small nob...lol and stop sniffing boots...lol love you brother you make my day ty
The phantom boot sniffer
They are snug fitting for sure
Was it length hehe 😜 or width haha that made you go bigger rubber 😜 I mean boot 😆
How did they fit then any issues more socks needed or anything?
But yeah they snug! I'd be worried about heel lift and foot movement so interesting to hear your feedback. Thanks for making my day with fab comments 😊
same socks less rubber....lol @@TonyHobbs
The logs have gone hope they gave you plenty of warmth are you going to a review of them in action?
They still there
But for you .... lol 😀
@@TonyHobbs Hope to see them soon🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏
The sole on the La Sportiva Aequilibrium is really hard and not really flexible as a walking boot.
Would not use them for walking on trails, paths etc.
Exactly the trango for that or trail shoes
Love the look of these, shame I've got feet like plates of steak. I do wear innov8 roclites pro g 400s, brilliant boot for 90% of stuff.
Edit. Just seen your previous video 😅 waterproofing have been brilliant on my pair but are starting to look tired after a year I agree.
Chris has not had issues either
Not sure why I do
But it's regular with mine unfortunately but they so comfy it'd put up with it plus return and ask re warranty
I can't do anything differently to anyone else and my other light boots can't remember brand off hand my brain died are holding firm and not leaking but they are too wide and I only use at home local walks
Inov8 my absolute lightweight hiking choice now though eap the lower to zero drop ones.
The boots you have they might be the ones Chris uses as he has wide feet and inov8 don't do so much for wide feet now. They used too.
Awful boot and awful crampons match well together.
I dont know whom these new breed of "comfortable" LS AE, scarpa Ribelle HD and Salewa Otles light boots is made for. They are worse for walking than normal winter hiking boots, they are bad for climbing, their durability is awful, they are very cold. That AE heel is beyond my comprehension. Probably there are hikers that want to look like mountaneers for the sake of fashion, idk.
As for crampons, those are impossible to walk over mixed terrain, they flip over. Probably dimensions are too narrow. They are good only for packed snow, that's about it.
Interesting observations. What boots do you recommend Scarpa SL? For my feet? And what crampons do you recommend?
I'll be trying these in Scotland with Chris soon see how I get on there. The crampons do look narrow but boot sole also looks narrow. I like boots for comfort but I'll agree they not hot.... time will tell. Longevity less issue if work and comfy and feet not freeze as you probably know as you're a regular here fashion of no interest. Just comfort. Have you tried these? What do you normally wear?
I asked dad to get these crampons long ago in usa 🇺🇸 before they were available here before anyone did anything much here esp on RUclips lol now they all doing it 😂 thanks for commenting please follow up with extra info
@@TonyHobbs im wearing ls trango tower and grivel g12 crampons for conditions similar to scottish winter.
Thanks
Have you used or tried or experience with my set up? Chris Townsend has used these crampons for years with his boots and rates them. It's probably why I got them long ago (dad got in usa as they were not available here (I may have said above) I'll see how I get on. What do you do very technical climbing or just walking which is what Chris does as I understand it. Those more technical crampons might be of interest in future. Thanks for reply and watching vuds.
@@TonyHobbs I just walk. No scrambles above grade 3(german, but as far as i know, grade 3 is same for all difficulty tables), so no technicalities, just boots, crampons and ice axe.
I live in much colder climate, so facing a vertical 300m of walkable 30 degree ice (that wasnt there yesterday) isnt uncommon, so i value good crampons.
I felt like aequilibrium are too cold even for -5c, and that is managaeable only while walking. I suppose gaiter version is a tad warmer.
I've sold mine as new after one hike.
