- I walk through the entirety of Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan. Lafayette Street is known for its diverse and lively locations. The restaurants in the NoLIta and NoHo neighborhoods really distingish the street from its surroundings.

"Lafayette Street is a major north-south street in New York City's Lower Manhattan. It originates at the intersection of Reade Street and Centre Street, one block north of Chambers Street. The one-way street then successively runs through Chinatown, Little Italy, NoLIta, and NoHo and finally, between East 9th and East 10th Streets, merges with Fourth Avenue. A buffered bike lane runs outside the left traffic lane. North of Spring Street, Lafayette Street is northbound (uptown)-only; south of Spring Street, Lafayette is southbound (downtown)-only.
The street is named after the Marquis de Lafayette, a French hero of the American Revolutionary War."

At 2:30 ,The 1960s TV show The Defenders shot this area as there beginning credits . i still can see EG Marshall greeting Robert "Brady Bunch " Reed on those steps .
Sad to see so many stores empty and spaces out for lease... It's great to see that more and more people are on the streets though, hope things will be better than before soon.

There was a Chinese restaurant in the 90’s that sold chicken with oyster sauce. The line would be so long. I can’t remember the address but it was on Lafayette pass that firehouse. I used to dream about that place. But I don’t think it’s still there.
Man be safe, a lot of people strung out, really sad and scary what has happened to NYC. Have to be honest I wouldn't feel safe doing that walk alone in certain spots. All the closed businesses & graffiti make it feel even worse. Still can't get over how empty it seems to the way I remember it. I want to see people come back to NYC but they have to do something to get the homeless & drug addicts off the streets.
