As a musician that grew up during the Cambrian Explosion of prog/art rock--the 70s--Bent Knee is some of the most refreshing prog I've heard in years. All are very good musicians. Courtney is an astounding singer and a beautiful woman.
It's amazing that any band could do a live recording of their current album from start to finish. Bent Knee completely nailed it. No crowd was there to cheer them on, but this is authentic and emotional. I love that even with all their talent they don't play so perfectly that it seems stale. Love the look on Courtney's face when Ben starts Time Deer a bit faster than expected. :-) They don't play to a click, and I love that.
Between the Buried and Me has done multiple tours playing multiple albums from front to back. They also have a live recording similar to this set up for The Parallax II. Amazing prog-metal band if you haven't heard them.
That band is a real gem. I just can't believe how amazing they are. Courtney has to be one of the best singer of all genre. She is too damn good and fits so perfectly with the others. These Hands has to be the most amazing song they written.
Bent Knee are one of the most original and innovative bands around at the moment. Land Animal is the best album i've heard in a long time. Would love the band to tour the UK (and that doesn't just mean a single gig in London).
I saw them last night in Atlanta, Ga. USA, and was quite impressed. They were opening act for Leprous and Haken, so they were introduced to a largely Prog/Metal audience, and they were received well. I was impressed by their musicianship. Ben was the most active one on stage followed by the violin player ( don't know his name ) but Courtney was anchored behind the keyboard and her mic stand.
Just saw them play with VOLA 3 days ago and was completely blown away by them. They came out all unassuming and just destroyed. Love when bands do that. Absolutely phenomenal.
I'm 60+ & just found this band via a review site. All I can say is WOW & how refreshing compared to a lot of the sameness within different genres. Love how the write, play and create. Their knees sure are bent.. hope they remain that way!
I came here to see what some of the bands playing Arctangent will be like. It was 3 days ago that I came across Bent Knee and I haven't left since. What a talented group! I cannot wait to see you live! 🤩
It makes me really sad this has less then 10k views. Bent knee is such a great band. I saw them in Phoenix and they only played about 25 minutes. I would have loved a 45 minute set. You guys are so great, and I'm so glad I bought shiny eyed babies at the show, battle creek became an instant classic for me.
I recently discovered Bent Knee and I'm completely blown away by this video. Land Animal is by far one of the best albums I've listened to in many years and this live recording makes it even better. Hats off to you folks for putting together some truly original and inspiring music. just.....wow!
@@KamiDisturbed He's friends with the guitar player so he appears in a few of his videos. He also has his own channel if you guys are interestes "fake dr levin"
I can not stop listening to this live version of the album, the delivery from all the band is so damn goooooooooooood, even better than the recording. I once saw them live about 5 years ago, before I knew their music, and I remember thinking how great they sounded and how I needed to start listening to them, but forgot until recently. I hope I get to see them again with a newfound appreciation.
I am in love! So many intriguing textures. The harmony is beautiful and is made even sweeter with the tactful rhythmic placement. Heavenly vocal sounds. My ear is always latching on to something and I can’t get bored. The balance between periods of rest and busyness is great also!
I've seen BENT KNEE in Berlin, Columbia Theatre in February 2019. The gig, voice and the intensive stage performance of the female singer and the band is just in my mind. This was an special evening of three bands together with VOLA from Denmark and HAKEN (UK). BK please come back to Germany.
Hey man I've been to the same concert and met Ray from Haken that day. I didn't know Bent Knee before but they DELIVERED. Surreal experience and I'm glad to have gotten some autographs from them
Saw these guys with Haken and Leprous. I liked their stuff well enough, but HOLY SHIT this music is insane live. I think it's because the dynamic range is so much larger in person, but the contrast in the lighter, quieter segments and the the parts where they go all-out just isn't something you can get from a pair of headphones.
Honestly in my personal opinion their albums are produced horribly. Everything is way too loud it’s like you can’t hear anything because you can hear too much of everything. But I saw them live and they’re incredible in that setting, just can’t really listen to their albums unfortunately.
@@MrHammett Dynamics is essencially the variance in loudness. Dynamic range is, to be specific, the difference between the point at which they are playing the quietest and the loudest.
Just saw them last Saturday, Dec 1, 2018 in Chicago along with Haken AND Leprous!.......Dang! it was a good night.......except for the mosh pit. BK really impressed me and I've never heard of them.
@@MusicianParadise I doubt they intentionally mix it bad so people buy the record. That's weird logic, who gives you the safety it's not the same bad mixing
Courtney Swain is by leaps and bounds one of the best voices in all of music good god
The melody of these hands is one of the most disquieting while also beautiful melodies I have ever heard.
tfw ur really sleepy and start falling asleep during Insides In but get startled awake during the bridge hits

Yea, gotta love a live shoe 😂
jokes aside, this is so true, imagine how mesmerizing it would be to watch this live

Well said Steve, too many bands do this.
It is indeed all about preference, every one has the choice to say no thanks not for me... and then move on.

Land animals as in their whole album is a masterpiece, every single song was a joy to listen to. These are the bands I live to listen to.

Decided to check these guys out because they're opening for Haken and Leprous. Holy shit. I am so going to that show
Haken mentioned them a lot on instagram some time ago and I never paid attention, luckily Spotify made me listen to them.
I love the bass player. Spot on!
Damn
Love it
My soul came, this is so good holy fuck
I love this band so much.
My only regret is that I didn't find out about Bent Knee until today.
Why does this feel like my generation's Dark Side of the Moon? And why are we so lucky to get one? Not every generation gets a Dark Side of the Moon.
I was thinking the same. Such a prog masterpiece, all of it, the whole story it tells. Lucky us.
Such amazing improvement from the already amazing performances 5 years prior! Great band:)
Looking forward to see them in Frankfurt 😊
