Seeing music from another showrunner's tenure referenced by Murray made me so happy, it's what I always scretely hoped would happen at some point under segun but it really makes it all feel united and connected. Really hope we hear more segun themes interwoven with murray's in the future.
@@WILLJEUM I really hoped that Akinola would incorporate Gold's Cybermen theme into his. Just the leitmotiv would be nice. But now I hope that Gold does the reverse and once we see Cybermen, we hear some mix of both.
0:25 is really good. Segun is underrated IMO. It’s a shame he’s never been given the opportunity to stand out like Murray was with moments like The Long Song and Song of Freedom.
I think Segun is starting to become his own. Wasn’t a fan of his soundtracks at all during series 11. Still miss Murray Gold, but Segun’s music is starting to grow on me
I like it okay, but it still is miles away from Gold's genius imo! But this theme was definetely a step up from series 11 and 12 (and the episode too IMO)
@@OswinPond Yeah he's miles away from Gold's ability to write genuinely iconic pieces with such variety, but his series 13 work in 2 episodes is far, far, far, far, far superior to series 11 and 12 together. Less of the ambience and those stupid/dumb generic repetitive chords whenever something remotely emotional happened making every emotional moment EXACTLY the same and predictable in nature. Everything series 13 so far has levelled up to an extent I didn't think the current setup was even remotely capable of. From music to Whittaker herself, where has this been since 2018? Why has it only appeared in 2021? Admittedly 2 series too late.
@@ollyreece4208 It's NEVER too late really, arguably the Seventh Doctor didn't arrive until his second season and IMO Nine never arrived (at no point did I ever feel like he was the Doctor, but obviously opinions vary).
Yes! Altho to be honest probably not as much because it's less relevant since Akinola is extremely fast to release his score. They are usually out when the series end. With Murray Gold we have to wait for a very long time.
@@OswinPond There’s still the occasional omission though. For example, there’s still a lot of music from “Fugitive of the Judoon” that I wish was released. Namely, the jaunty music from the beginning and the music towards the end that morphs from the Doctor’s theme into Ruth’s theme.
@@OswinPond I loved "War of the Sontarans" but "The Halloween Apocalypse" was a little messy. But overall majorly better than s11 and 12. Also glad you uploaded this!
Have you thought about doing Gold's score for a midsummer's night dream for BBC 1, written by RTD, its kinda unheard of now but it had a full BBC wales orchestra production behind it with some big tracks, for a quick listen the film is on sockshare
Hey Oswin Pond, bit of a specific question, but on your Heaven Sent melody soundtrack with narration released 4 years ago, the How I survived music has a second part to it that I haven’t been able to fine anywhere else, after the Doctor hits the water. I was wondering where you found it?
@@OswinPond I would be more than willing to host them on my Mega account - Mega is a cloud storage website like Google Drive, but all of the files are encrypted and require a link (and optionally a password) in order to access them. I've got plenty of excess storage space I'm paying for and not using!

I've even seen a few Doctor Who edits on RUclips that tell you to go to Vimeo for the whole thing. Oh I'm glad to hear that about Gallifrey! I went to listen to it at work but while I could find it, I couldn't get anything other than the timestamps. Can't wait to hear the new version! Do you have Discord or somewhere we could talk outside of a RUclips Comment section? I'd love to know what techniques you use to make your content
