it's true. I went to a cat cafe in my area and also ignored them. One went straight into my lap and didn't leave for an hour an a half. My leg fell asleep and it was so painful walking after that, but of course I couldn't' just get up!
Oh that happened to me too!!! Well, minus the leg falling asleep. It was the one cat with some kind of eye problem though, which was pretty nast, but still cool!!
Fr Fr my cat is so jealous if I hold like a other cat and I went there and I had to ignore the cats because my cat is cute and I don’t want my cat to be jealous lol 😅 and it was so hard to ignore them because some of the cats went up to me
I got 4 cats. Once one lays on you. your stuck and unable to move even a little bit. The only good reason to disturb kitty is your about to pee or shit your pants. Then your allowed to get up.
It's actually not that cats like you more if you ignore them, it's that they feel less intimidated/threatened. If you are already familiar with a cat, there's no point. You can accomplish similar simply by not looking directly at the cat, and leaving them alone until they approach you.
Although, If I've paid too much attention to one of my cats for a while, they seem to appreciate it when I give them space/ignore them. Which often makes them sit closer to me than they did before. They really teach me about boundaries and balance.
It depends on what cat it is if it’s a shy cat it will definitely like you if your ignoring it or just not playing much attention however if it’s an active cat it likes you paying attention to it
Most cats will mark everything in their house because it’s their territory/domain. If a cat purposely avoids an entire couch, I’d be concerned there was something wrong with it (the couch) imperceptible to my human senses.
Cats are smart. My neighbors cat used to come over and I told her no, she’s not allowed on the couch where me and bunny snuggle and she never climbs on. She’s super smart it was like having a roommate 😆 I miss her tho
I was thinking the same thing, they do put a lot of bromide into new furniture, for the use as a flame retardant. Insects will avoid anything with drier sheets, which has the same chemical. I wouldn't be surprised if some mammals could detect it as well.
The "righting reflex" was working. You can see it happening in the photos. Problem is it takes a certain height for them to have the time to right themselves properly. Too short of a distance and they don't have the time to orient themselves to land properly if they start out too far from proper landing position at the start of their decent. So from high enough places cats always land on their feet. From a short jump like this it isn't always the case.
Kurt won't touch a toxic couch. Your couch is off gasing toxic fumes into your house. Animals can smell the toxicity, humans can't. Same thing happened with my Siamese. I read the label and immediately threw the new cat beds out. Please check out chemical free living.

I agreed with what others said about cat’s sense is much better than human and might detect the dangerous toxic humans didn’t aware of. Besides, I’d like to add another viewpoint after years of living and observing cats, we often ignored how they were brought up especially cats being outdoor before - camouflage will make them feel safe due to nature instinct. 8:00 but you still can actually pretty well see how he's turning, he went from being vertical head-up to almost normal cat position in a fraction of a second. but the thing is - if the fall is short enough that he can't land on his feet, it's probably short enough of a fall that it doesn't rly matter that he didn't

I went to my first cat cafe this past month and as a cat person I know not to bother them and follow them round like a lot of other customers were doing. I just sat down got comfy and before I knew it I had two cats trying to settle on my lap. The first cat that claimed my lap had a good wash, fell asleep and stayed there my entire visit. When it came to leaving I had to slowly slide them off in to a cushion, luckily i didn't get the stink eye for doing that lol.
@Abram Engle, seriously, who could go to a kitty Café & ignore the kitties, that's self-torture, lol. Kurt still looking handsome as ever!🐈^_^ As for his running speed, keep in mind that a velocity of 30mph is equivalent to ~44 feet per second! Kurt being in the house he doesn't have as much room so to be moving at ~25-30 feet per second is impressive! My very old treadmill goes up to 10mph which is about half the speed Kurt ran and yet I used to run it up to 10mph, it's a lot faster than people think especially for those of us with shorter legs! Those with longer legs are able to traverse greater distances with each stride without requiring as much energy. Usain is 6'5", imagine what it'd be like for someone 12" shorter trying to running that same speed.
Please be careful that the yarn doesn't get chewed up and eaten as pieces could strangulate their colon. If you use lightweight pingpong balls in the machine I'm certain Kevin would love it. You raised a cutie 🐈🥰💕
Pool for Kurt- my cat likes his big water fountain, which is the same size or bigger than the little pool around 7min in. He plays with the water, drinks from it, and uses it in cleaning himself. It’s always fun to see him play with a thread or clear plastic spoon or whatnot that falls in. I bet Kurt would enjoy the running water, if you haven’t done that yet.
The thing that threatens cats is intense eye contact, which is a signal of invitation for confrontation in their understanding. By not looking into their eyes directly and throwing in some gentle blinks, the message becomes, "I come with no harm intended, let's be friends. "
Wtf? Is this considered news? Ignoring cats is 100% the best way to get them to be curious and interact with you. This is "dealing with cats 101" level. Anyway, good luck to every human & cat 😎
That’s because in cat body language, looking at somecat for more than a glance is a sign of hostility. Not looking at cats is less aggressive than looking at them.
Might be the texture of the couch on his paws. I noticed that with the other new piece of furniture that the was sitting on, it had a blanket so that he was not directly touching it. Also, when you put the harness on him, he did the classic “I hate being dressed in this thing” crouch and flop that cats do. I think he was too distracted by his discomfort to be interested in the outdoors.
