Starting new season catching Brown Trout on previously broken and self repaired fly rod /mystery fly

At last Trout season is open again. It felt like forever before it re-opened.
I am back on my favorite local stream with my previously broken 7 foot fly rod which I fixed myself by inserting and gluing in a thin drill bit. It worked quite well without any problems.
I first started out with my normal go to "Dry dropper" rig without much success and then switched to my other rod and different fly getting more strikes. Upstream fly fishing.
