    I always shake my head at people who say "don't worry about the small contract/sale/business" as they are so idiotic that they can't see that while a single big contract/sale/business can make a company it can also ruin it
    I'd rather have 10 $30,000 contracts than a single $300,000 contract as if I were to lose a single $30,000 contract it hurts the business less

    CYA emails are GOLD! I have so many stored on my personal off-site file for 'special occasions'. I am known as the 'bus lifter'; whenever someone tries to throw me under the bus, I simply lift it and throw it back onto them. Over the years, I have been personally responsible for six demotions and two firings within my company, using only my CYA emails.

    Second story: that's not a Sales Department, it's a Scam Department!
    No, I'm not in sales, but I am a consultant working with sales all the time. Resposible sales departments know the worth of returning customers. And responsible corporations value returning customers in SALES BONUSES over new sales!

    • @Gr3nadgr3gory
      @Gr3nadgr3gory Год назад

      As a landscaper I understand new customers are hard to get, even harder to keep. But if you do keep them, they'll come back with more. Maybe next year it's adding mulching, the next shrub trimming. Eventually they're one of your best customers, calling you up to put in new plants yearly because they like to "switch it up."

      @@luciferpetrenkoff5040 I'm such a Doctor Who fan, that Thanos character wiping out 50% and then being brought back, hurt my head even thinking of it. I'd be more worried of the innocents taken out of existence. I recall a few of Redwheel's stories, where the Karen's children even knew their own parent was in the wrong, which is a good sign, they don't ever want to be like them. Now if I had Thanos power, I'd actually bring the 50% of White Castle burger stores, to the west of the USA that are missing ;)

    Second Story - I follow the same principle of paying as much attention to the small orders as I do the large ones. I also use the same practice when I'm on the other side of the deal. If only a few companies I've dealt with knew how much they lost by screwing up badly on a small item, then showing no remorse.

    Sitting on the Government side and having come from a utility that did lots of contract business, I am honestly surprised at times at how willing the government employees are willing to simply buy into what people say and push for deals which sound too good to be true. While it's not my job to review contracts, I have reviewed a few and some of the terms being slipped in have been .. interesting. Now I suspect a legal team might find them and all contacts go through legal reviews. But smaller government groups have overworked legal staffs without the big experts of large cities and counties and states. So things can and do slip through. I diligently point these out to the folks always with a little tale about "I remember ....". so as to not seem like I am trying to step into their territory, and so far it has worked.

    I'm sorry but this is a common thing
    Sales always promises clients/customers god knows what & keeps telling them one lie after the other just to get their sale and then clients/customers blow up at Customer Care because we have to tell them "That's not how it works unfortunately" & "I'm sorry that you were misinformed"
    And we then end up with calls where we are getting yelled and cussed at & demand to speak to the manager, who of course will NOT take the call & will just tell you to deal with it
    I had many calls like that over the last 20some years, especially in my last job

    I don't know all the particulars it's not even my story it's more like what my son told me that one manufacture was suing the company that he worked for for 25 million and he told his boss it can't be us there's no possible way bring anybody you want in and test anything you want anytime you want and you'll see that it's not us
    Well now my son's walking on cloud nine because he saved his company at 25 million lawsuit priceless common sense and working with your hands and remembering how you're doing things pays off in the end
    The only part I didn't like about the whole story is the company you work for didn't give him a 10% for saving the company so much money he said he's got much better than that I said what could be better than that well one of the bosses was sick and he needed his shift covered I got to come in and wind her around cuz I know how to fix all the machines I should go for it my son
