Crash! Crash! Recession! Inflation! It’s getting depressing. I have about $100k in emergency fund and I have been seeing good news about the stock market and would like to gain from that since I can’t let my savings be corroded by inflation. What stocks should I into as a newbie to safely grow my money.

I suggest you offset your real estate and get into stocks, A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too

Its best if you buy growth/blue-chip/large caps stocks only. Also, as a newbie its advisable you work with an investment advisor to help set up a well-structured portfolio.

News Alert! Inflation hasn't just started to affect us. People have been suffering greatly from inflation for almost a century, but notably after 1971. During the industrial revolution, prices of products and services were auctioned down to the point that consumers could literally buy them for as little as a penny thanks to a free market and sound money. All of the problems we have today are a result of government meddling.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Housing prices, Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. It's all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year (or sooner). With inflation currently at about 6%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

Yes. Americans are finally going to pay the price for decades of corporate pollution & environmental abuses, price-gouging, reduction of their taxes, & profit-slurping - all of it has further enriched the 1% and left the middle-class wincing at the price of a Big Mac. 60% of inflation is the result of corporate greed, funnelled into the pockets of their shareholders, at the expense of the suffering consumer. But let’s not confuse people with actual facts.

I think it lasted six months before even corporate had to admit it was a bad idea and dropped it. But the franchises knew it was a bad idea, the employees knew it was a bad idea, and the customer complaints told you it was a bad idea.

I foresee a recession lasting 2-3 years, and if inflation continues to surge, the Federal Reserve will likely raise interest rates soon. Inflation is causing various issues worldwide, such as food shortages, scarcities of diesel and heating fuel, and significant spikes in housing prices, leading to a potential financial market crash. This global downturn could have long-lasting repercussions. Given the current inflation rate of approximately 9%, my main worry is how to optimize my savings and retirement fund, which has remained stagnant at around $300,000, yielding almost no gains for quite some time.

I think I can honestly say the hayday of fast food was in the 90s. Staffing wasn't an issue, food was reasonably priced. Everybody was making money. As a manager I can honestly say I was allocated more labor than I had positions to fill. I literally had a staff member whose sole job was to relieve other employees so they could take their break. And another who did nothing but clean tables, mop floors, and check the restrooms. And then by the mid 2000s it all changed. Food prices kept going up. Staffing was more difficult. Service times suffered. In the mid 90s the expected service time was three minutes or less per order. By the mid 2000s that whole concept was out the window. A job that was intended as a starter job, became one only people with no work skills went into.
I'll be honest, I'll give it another 10 - 15 years where a fast food restaurant might have just one employee. You order at a kiosk, the food is made by machine or the single employee, and the order then gets dropped in a chute for you to pick up. There will be no dine in service. It will all be drive thru only to reduce the operational footprint of the business.

You know most people dont eat at these places everyday. As a mom we used mcds occasionally if we didnt have time for a sit down dinner and it was on the way to one of the kids activities. It was an affordable quick meal and a convenience. mC D’s was also my first job in the 80s. It helped me as a teenager earn extra money for nicer clothes than my patents could afford and taught me alot about work ethic preparing me for my future high-paying careers. This should be interesting😂😂. You sound like a McDonald’s job commercial 😂😂😂😂

Agreed. I chuckled when they said McDonalds might leave California. No, the franchees might leave California. McDonalds Corp. is makeing money regardless via the franchees fees. I don't know what McD's contract is with their franchees, but I'd not be surprised if they don't receive 2% off the top. Plus make money on all the product the franchees have to buy from McD's because they have no choice but to purchase from them. So if a store does $1 million in sales, (which would be pretty low sales volumes) McD's cut would be $20k at 2%.
