If it weren't for three serious injuries between 1999 and 2000, it was very likely that Ronaldo would have 5 or 6 Ballon d'Ors at the end of his career. The level presented between 1996 and 1998 was completely unplayable and out of this world, before even turning 23 years old.
More like 7 or even 8 Ballon d'or, could've been possible for him if he stayed healthy.
Actually Ronaldo did have serious injuries in PSV at 2nd season then Barça just muscular when he goes to Inter he had those 3, so actually he was already nerfed at Inter when he had that first one and still manage to deliver bangers

Im not saying Ronaldo ever had the vision and playmaking of Messi but at his best he could do it pretty well. If you haven't yet watched the friendly match europe vs world from 1997 , watch it i know its a friendly but Ronaldo completely dominated the midfield scored 2 goals and 3 assists , he embarrassed europe so bad he had to be subbed of.

what's most interesting is the positions Ronaldo took. He played more like a winger and a #10 than he ever played as a striker. His scoring was entirely due to how good he was, not because he camped in the box. I use Ronaldo as the measuring stick of what it means to be a great attacker.
