Your videos have been really helpful to me. I'm troubleshooting a client's AC automation and your video serves as my references. I love how you don't just show ways to do it but you also explain the why and purpose which is the most important thing. Thank you!
Thanks for the video! My first q: I use Thrive Leads with AC. Before watching this video, I had an old automation and only recently realized Thrive Leads automatically subscribed them to my Master List even BEFORE they entered the automation which was a problem. Is this why your automation has unsubscribe from all lists? Second Q:trying to add few steps as possible for contacts to get their lead magnet but setting up separate automation just for double opt-in and separate one for delivering lead magnet would mean they would not get the link automatically after confirming email (they would have to wait to get the email instead of getting it instantly after hitting confirm email button and getting directed to URL with lead magnet). Is there a way to simplify the process. I watched your other video on lead magnet as well. How do you connect the double opt in automation to the lead magnet one with least steps for contact. Thank you!
hi Max, thank you so much for your explanation. Could you tell my how to set up an automation for a new contact coming from a form --> double opt in and a contact who is already in my list. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Hi ! Thank you for your vidéo ! It's amazing. I have a question btw... I guess if we use a third part to create optins (Click Funnels, Thrive Lead etc...) even if people don't confirm emails they will still get their bonus AND get subscribed to owr lists isnt it ? So even though they didn't confirm their email by clicking to the link... during 7 days they will still get our emails, won't they ? Please, tell me if I'm wrong and could you give me your solution to that? Thank you so much :)
We frequently have people who enter their email address incorrectly which is why I thought about using the double opt in... assuming if they really want our emails they will check for the confirmation and possibly submit the form again if they did not get one. Thoughts on that? I wish there was an option to require people to enter their email twice and make sure it matches before completing the form.
Great video ! Thank you for this helpful tip ! But what if I send an email to that list before the contact confirms subscription ? Because they actually are in the list until they get unsubscribed if they do not click on the link 🤔
Hey Max. Thanks for the video. Question though regarding the double optin automation: what if the person doesn’t click on the confirmation link and thus goes in the „No“-path. However i don‘t want to unsubscribe them from the entire list if they have gone through any different automation in the past and thus have an existing tag. I don’t know what condition to use in this case. An option „does person have ANY tag“ does not exist. I have too many tags as to use the „or“ option inside the „tag exists“ condition. Thanks
Hi Max Great video. The settings set-up helped me very much and is now installed to my welcome series. But I could still need some help. I have 25 subscribers that I would like to insert into my welcome series, but how to? If possible, could you maybe give me the steps? Thank you so much.
@@maxvcollenburg Yes, there is the text and the button. The text will be shown, but no button, so the person that receives the email can't take action.
Really excellent explanation! But what if you have 2 or more funnels and the customer has already received the status [Email Confirmed] from another of your funnels. Would you be so kind and explain this to us as well? Thanks again, you are an excellent teacher!
@@dermatechlabs7975 you're welcome! You can create a checkbox type custom field, and add it to your form. Here's an article that explains how it works: www.activecampaign.com/learn/guides/preparing-for-the-gdpr-collecting-consent#anchor-2
Hey. nice video. I have set the DOI automation with a goal (goal reached when link clicked). I was told that that was the better way. What I noticed is that people who didnt klick, stay in the automation. I find your way of removing them better. What do you think could be an advantage of implementing a goal?
I personally like to give people X time to confirm their subscription, otherwise they'll stay in the automation forever. So your automation could, for example, look like this; [send email] [wait until has clicked link for up to 30 days] [if/else: clicked link?] [yes path] [no path] That way, people who click continue right away, and people who don't click continue & exit after 30 days.
Hi Max! Great video. I'm a rookie at implementing the double optin with Active Campaign. I followed other tutorials and set up the AC Forms (method 1) in order to send the suscribers my Lead Magnet. However, nothing happened! The subscriber email was submitted but not a single action (nor email from me) was triggered. Is there any other step I'm missing? BTW, my landing page is made with Clickfunnels. Do I must use the #2 method you suggest? Would appreciate any help. Thanks
Heyhey! I've never used Clickfunnels, so I'm not sure how they made the connection between them and ActiveCampaign. You probably have to use method #2, as you're not using the build-in forms. I hope that helps!
@@maxvcollenburg I spent a few hours trying to figure it out. Finally, I could trigger my email sequence using both methods. However, method #1 did not allow me to keep track of the user's approval of the Privacy Policy. So I just followed your advice and made the automation you just shared. :D Thank you very much for your answer.
As always, great video Max! Are you really allowed (GDPR policy) to require a double optin and accept further commication in order to receive their lead magnet (download). What’s your thoughts on this?
Hey Kingztyle! I didn't study to give any legally binding advice about the GDPR. However, I think consent should be freely given. So you can't require someone to opt-in for further email communication to get a download. What a lot of people do, is asking people to subscribe to their list and as a bonus for doing that they'll get a cool download. For example; "Join my newsletter and get my ebook about xyz for free." (but some see this as a bit of a gray area) Another solution is to add a consent checkbox to your form, and/or ask people to give consent inside the email in which you deliver the download in. You could for example send the download by email, and add a PS that asks people to click a link if they want to get more emails. After they click that link, you add a consent tag. I hope that helps!
Great video thank you. I am currently on the 14 day free trial for ActiveCampaign and trying to figure it all out. Double opt-in seems to be the safest and most productive solution long term as customers will probably be more likely to engage and it will filter out non productive customers. But then again, my list will be smaller.... decisions!
I think a small engaged list beats a big not engaged list any day 🙂 But it's important to find a good balance. I, for example, also like to unsubscribe people after they have been inactive for a while, but you would not want to do that after two weeks already because someone might be on a holiday etc. Good luck with ActiveCampaign! I hope my tutorials will help, and if you have any questions you can always shoot me an email or leave a comment 🙌
@@maxvcollenburg Thanks Max. I spent a bit of time learning more today and a master plan is beginning to come together. Happy New Year! I will certainly be back to your channel to continue my learning.
It's not really about the kind of business. It's more about how people get onto your list, where you're based, where your contacts are based, and personal preference. Myself, I choose single opt-in. But I do automatically unsubscribe people if they don't open any emails within the first 14 days of their subscription.
@@maxvcollenburg ok, great points. I will probably do the same but my niche, travel, has a longer than average sales cycle so my unsubscribe time period will probably be 45 to 60 days.
There's no requirement under GDPR to have a double opt-in process. Yet, it's considered best practice in many countries, especially Germany and in the EU in general.
Are you going to use double opt-in or single opt-in? 🙂
As a VA, it would depend on the client's choice. The pros and cons you have listed is a good way to help them decide.
