I feel like he did a bit of a poor job explaining the Sundial of the Infinite Shenanigans so I'll elaborate. You don't just end the turn before the End Step, because the ability will just trigger on your opponent's End Step instead since that becomes 'next end step'. The sacrifice effect is a delayed trigger, so you go to the end step and allow it to trigger, than while its still on the stack, you activate the sundial to end the turn. What this does is exiles EVERYTHING off of the stack so they don't resolve, but because it DID trigger, it won't trigger again on your opponent's turn.
Thank you for that. My playgroup didn't believe this combo actually worked and looking it up online also had poor explanations so having this explanation is quite great thanks dood.
Interested in reading the full story of Feldon? I summarized briefly what can be found here, and it's more than worth sitting down and reading: magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/arcana/lorans-smile-2014-10-27
I love this video Professor! Your retelling of Feldon's tale at the beginning... Very touching. I didn't know about this commander. The possibilities with his special abilities are amazing! Thank you!
I just love you, Professor, and every video you create and I usually end up watching them more than once and showing them to all my Magic playing friends. Thanks so much for being an inspiration. Without you, I would have long lost the spark of interest that I have for Magic! Thank you!!
PumkinPieCrust As much as you're willing to put into it! Mine is fairly budget friendly (a mono-coloured landbase helps here), but adding expensive reanimator targets can up the price a lot. My decklist is on my tapped out page, and I've used him in a gameplay video if you want to see him in action!
FINALLY! :D Some suggestions for Feldon's 99 which I personally enjoy are Dualcaster Mage, Dire-Fleet Daredevil and Mindclaw Shaman to have ways to interact with the stack. For filling the yard, I also enjoy Dragon Mage and Quicksmith Genius. Perpetual Timepiece can even protect your bombs from the nasty exile zone. Combat Celebrant is a nice card to have, and so is Anger. Heartstone can help with Feldon activations while Krark-Clan Ironworks and Ashnod's Altar are able to make tons of mana with the tokens in MP2 so they aren't totally wasted after combat. And from Commander 2018 I'd suggest taking a look at Reality Scramble and Saheeli's Directive, as both seem rather fun.
As a new player to MTG (about a month) I wanted to say thank you for making all these videos and making this game that seems so intimidating very accessible and fun. Because of your content I bought a challenger deck and have frequented my lgs for FNM the last 4 weeks. Keep up the awesome work.
Another masterful video, Professor! Your recap of the backstory was heartwarming and heartbreaking. I know you haven't the time, but you have the skills to be a successful audiobook narrator. Ah, love, and the pain that the inevitable loss of love brings. Well done, sir, well done.
The Precon that Feldon came in is by far my favorite Precon I've ever played. I must admit I turned my nose up at it when it first came out, but I picked it up in the Anthology this year, and I was so impressed with how well constructed it was. I will probably convert it into one of my main decks soon. Thanks as always for fun, thoughtful content, Prof!
The story of Feldon, which I found in the back of a book found in the back of a store, was what got me interested in Magic lore. This deck seems much more complex and interesting then just mono red goblins. Thanks for the Deck Tech
loved it. I've been playing around with the idea of a mono red artifact deck for a while now, and hadn't even considered running Feldon as commander instead of in the 99. Timely! SO thanks!
I love your channel so much, keep up the good work! Just started playing again MTG after 17 years of inactivity, I have learned so much from your work. Cheers!
I bought the Anthology 2 and love playing Daretti even thought I’m a golgari lover. This is the first deck with red that I enjoy playing. This video makes me think I need to tune Daretti to be a Feldon deck. Thanks for all your hard work Professor and Team.
Ok here you go: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/02-08-18-PEi-ninja-tribal/#c3359765 Don’t worry that it says it’s more expensive than I said the Card Kingdom estimate is incorrect. Also, it is a work in progress so do not buy yet. I’ll say when it’s finished. ;)
I fee like we need another Kamigawa/ ninja set to really be able to make a good ninja tribal edh deck since there's only 12 ninjas and a few of them are un-set cards.
TwilitLugia there's 10 (edh legal) and then now the new legendary so 11 ... But with like arcane adaption. Dimir control shell around arcane adaption and the 11 ninjas seems pretty good, like the blue legendary Ninja can tutor other ninjas so u can basically get whatever creature u want
"...hug your mom." This made my day! :) Honestly, I have to stop watching your EDH decktechs, because every damn time I am compelled to build the decks you present us. Great job, yet again!
I've been waiting for this for a long time. I've been more of a Daretti fan truth be told, but I'm glad to see you tackle a red artifact deck finally. I might go ahead and give this a go myself.
this deck looks cool! I never read feldon properly and thought he exiled the creatures from the graveyard. Also I loved the story at the beginning. really makes you appreciate the flavour win. Keep it up prof!!!
My feldon deck is my favorite edh deck I own. Thought I'd mention that Combat Celebrant is pretty strong in this deck as it untap feldon and gives an extra attack step. Celebrant and Godo, Bandit Warlord also go infinite with Helm of the Host, which is a neat little combo package you can run in this deck.
Feldon of the Third Path is one of the best-designed cards in all of Magic in terms of function meeting flavor. Always nice to see him get some appreciation.
The story of Feldon is my favorite story in magic. It also is nice for explaining that you aren't summoning the real creature legendary or not, but just a copy from you memory. As impermanent as Feldon's Loran.
Excellent deck tech. Been wanting to work my way into a mono colored deck, and this one looks like my style of deck. I tried to brew up an Omnath, Locus of Mana, but it turned out very linear. And thanks for the Scion of the Ur Dragon deck tech as well. I win at least once every time my group gets together thanks to the stuff I included based on your list.
Fairly new to your channel ... your blending of flavor, story and deck design here was fantastic. For the first time ever I even have the urge to play mono red! You do really good work. Keep it up!
I made a mono red Energy deck using Feldon at the helm just because so many Energy creatures have "ETB, gain X energy" and it's way more fun than I thought it would be. Although now I know the story of Feldon and Loran, I'm committed to making a matching set of decks using Feldon of the Third Path/Loran, Disciple of History/Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist/Tawnos, the Toymaker. Each one does artifacts in a different way, and no crossovers of colour.
'bloodshot cyclops' is a nice include for a feldon deck. fling the creatures before they are sacrificed. 'kazuul, tyrant of the cliffs' is great for defending you. 'fateful showdown' is an underrated wheel effect, that can let you get yet more damage in.
Thank you Soo much for this video, I love feldom both lore and deck. He is my favorite commander. Also fun trick for those that love mono red control. If you have isochron scepter+final Gambit+sundial of the infinite=infinite turns
wow this is my favorite deck you have done so far, so cool! I never knew this card existed before this video, that was such an interesting story about his lost lover and the way the deck plays feels so perfect for a re(d)animator artifact vibe, very on color and flavorful, I'm in. Will be building this very soon thanks prof! :)
Was about to finish my Daretti deck with Feldon as one of the 99. But after your video i think i will buy some of the pieces I don't have and switch to Feldon :-D Awesome video. Especially the lore part at the start
Prof about Ramp and ETB: "There's not much in the way of creatures beyond that in mono-Red. Enter Dockside Extortionist >:D Technically Soulbright Flamekin is ramp in mono-Red, but it's a very limited ability; you have to pay 6 generic to get 8 red mana. But it works, and it grants select creatures trample. Red also has some interesting ramp cards these days, like Cursed Mirror, Treasure Nabber and of course, Braid of Fire. That last one is really weird. The mana has to be spent during your upkeep, but any deck that has a mana sink would love it! It's a very limited red version of Carpet of Flowers that grows! And they've gotten a certain treasure dwarf that makes treasures when one casts or copies instant or sorcery spells; not bad! Of course, this is all in Red's weird way. They're definitely still lacking, just like White is. White has one of the most insane ramp cards in Commander, but it doesn't help much if that's all it's got. Actually, I would argue White has better ramp than Red these days. We've seen cards that put lands into your hand, there are cards that let you put lands onto the battlefield. There are even a couple cards that will help you catch up on lands to try and keep up with the ones with more land ramp. I'm glad Lorehold had a lot of good cards, so we finally got to see some Boros decks that could actually do a decent job on the ramp. The one deck gets to use Wayfarer's Bauble thrice in a single game!
I love seeing these! Thank you soo much! I'd love to see another mono red commander, namely Kumano, Master Yamabushi. I think there is some fun things that can be done with him but it's beyond me :)
I think we need to clarify a small bit about sundial: You have to activate it in response to the exile trigger. If you end the turn prematurely (say, during main phase 2), there will still be an end step at the next opponent's turn and the creature will be exiled at the next end step (most likely the next player's). If you activate the sundial as the creature is about to be exiled and the trigger is on the stack, sundial will "clear" the stack, then end the turn. The trigger does not occur again, it only happens once.
I just picked up the daretti precon for cheap and will absolutely rebuild it for Feldon!! It's sort of like yisan in a way which is my favorite deck so far!
I would like other wincons outside of obviousness (kiki jiki), like full steal with infinite mana, or reaction reanimator deck. Feldon is one of most carismatic characters of Antiquities Wars, and thanks for the lore. As a new cmd for a new video, I would love to see a deck of Jolrael or Sylvos (monogreen) or any of the Kirins of Kamigawa. Igot my own list, but to see a netdecking to compare with my home brew is always a pleasure XD Great work
So the reason I found this video was due to the ONE MORE MANA channel who just released a video about Feldon. I am think this deck idea is really beautiful, especially being in red. No real burn but heavy creatures and resurrections and card draw.....so unlike red but all together it makes sense. I look forward to building something similar with Feldon.
I just read the story that is summarized here: Loran's Smile. I have not cried that hard since my dad died. Feldon is such a relocatable and human character. It is such a powerful message: Sometimes all we truly want is the chance to say goodbye.
As a commander feldon isent great being mono red. But your combo is 100% correct. He sees play in blood pod becaous of that kiki jiki resurect trick. Great video.
If you have room for it, Panharmonicon is nuts for double a tokens etb effects, since they will be artifacts when he reanimates them as sad robots (because they're dead). And Warstorm Surge. A personal touch in my Feldon deck is Heretic's Punishment. It self mills and deals damage. You can also get some back end damage of Vicious Shadows, but that's a meta call at 7 CMC.
It's important to note that his ability is an "at the beginning of the next end step" this means you can make a token after the start of the end step and keep it through to the next end step
I used Feldon in the 99 of my Norin group slug deck. I know it's time for him to shine once I have Norin and Purphoros in play. I find a way to discard Bearer of the Heavens, put some haste on Feldon, then just reanimate the Bearer. The rest of the game is just me doing two damage to everyone. This usually happened very late game in my playgroup so everyone who was every victimized just gave up and scooped. Another way I use him is to get a surprise Hidetsugu out once I've placed a damage doubling effect into play. Now I used most of my Norin deck to make a Gisela deck, with Feldon in it to reanimate sweet things like Karmic Guide and Knight of the White Orchid because Boros really, REALLY needs ALL the help it can ever get.
Very nice deck prof!! I was figuring out how to build a feldon deck myself so this video is perfect as a setting Stone for my own take at the deck!! Greetings from Spain
I honestly think you should cover Sakashima The Imposter. He is one of my favorite Mono Blue commanders. You can build him without the iconic lock down control that many mono blue decks share, and instead play a mimicking theft deck with brutal ETB effects. Many people in my play group play hefty mana ramp/ beat down decks, and Sakashima allows me to creatively and mischiefiously take advantage of that and swarm the board with the best cast in play.
As the champion of red among my playgroup, i love seeing these mono-red commanders finally getting a spotlight in the commander scene. It unfortunately is a common belief that those of us who identify with the strategies of the red mana, are jankyard dogs and are usually not much of a threat. at least where i am anyways. So while i continue my campaign to make them choke on their cleverness and die, i would like to see a rakdos commander video. It took me months to land on a build that i liked when i built mine, and i am interested to see what you come up with professor.
Currently building a Feldon deck, using ashnods altar, cathodion, ability copying artifacts, artifacts that etb as copies of those ability doublers, and things that can convert colorless to red mana
Brand new episode of Tolarian Tutor: Building Better Mana Bases! Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/4Lio7WqsoL4/видео.html
Tolarian Community College do you really need to advertise that?
Yeah, of course we're gonna watch it, we love you, guy
Thank you for the intro. It gave good insight into the card, and it was beautiful.
Would you please do a tech on the new ninja commander
Bobby Michealson This seems to be a pretty popular opinion, and I'm all about jumping on this bandwagon.
"Except with Sundial of the Infinite Shenanigans." I feel like there should've been a record scratch sound effect there. Lol
SadwichPunch2100 YES.
That intro was beautiful
until he interrupted it with the sundail stick hilarious
Yah the delivery nearly made me cry and then he dove into the video. I laughed, I cried. GDI prof.
I love how the Prof tells stories... especially this one.
Really makes you miss the old lore
New lore is fine too. The old lore included shakespear and the bible so you know, nostalgia goggles.
Feldon: I shall never see my love again.
Wizards of the Cost: hey buddy, Want to buy a watch?
Prof, you've made more for MTG promotion than wizards. I love the game and appreciate your contribution to make it more popular.
Артем Сададинов calm down lover boy
Consciousness sorry if it sounds weird, English is not my first language.
Thank you for that. My playgroup didn't believe this combo actually worked and looking it up online also had poor explanations so having this explanation is quite great thanks dood.
Thanks for the explanation. I saw this a lot in Feldon decks and didn't quite understand why.
Interested in reading the full story of Feldon? I summarized briefly what can be found here, and it's more than worth sitting down and reading: magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/arcana/lorans-smile-2014-10-27
Such a painfully beautiful story, it always makes me cry.
8:54 “And hug your mom” lol love that so much
I immediately looked for comments about that once I heard it lol
I was listening to this in the background and when I heard that I was like "what?" and had to rewind. Cheeky.
Thank you!!
Beautiful opening professor, keep up the good work!
Ive come back to this video many times. Feldon was my first real commander deck and I got the inspiration from this video!
Love your work, prof.
I love my Feldon deck! Mono red reanimator for the win!
Affinity For Commander same!
It's a great deck.
Best red deck in the format. Maybe not the strongest overall, but noone can (or probably ever will) play exactly like he does
PumkinPieCrust As much as you're willing to put into it! Mine is fairly budget friendly (a mono-coloured landbase helps here), but adding expensive reanimator targets can up the price a lot. My decklist is on my tapped out page, and I've used him in a gameplay video if you want to see him in action!
PumkinPieCrust Will do when I'm next on my PC, having some trouble accessing Tapped Out on my phone!
Yes! I’ve had this deck together for years, I’m really happy he’s getting some attention ❤️ I can’t wait to see more Feldon decks in the wild
I almost shed real tears to the opening
Justin Mackay it was rather poetic
Truly one of the best stories in magic. And one that sees red in a beautiful way. Great Work Prof!
I have been listening to the intro to this video on loop for over an hour now
FINALLY! :D
Some suggestions for Feldon's 99 which I personally enjoy are Dualcaster Mage, Dire-Fleet Daredevil and Mindclaw Shaman to have ways to interact with the stack.
And from Commander 2018 I'd suggest taking a look at Reality Scramble and Saheeli's Directive, as both seem rather fun.
yeah, especially when you have 3 valakuts in play and you copy someone's genesis wave for x=33 and kill them in the process
As a new player to MTG (about a month) I wanted to say thank you for making all these videos and making this game that seems so intimidating very accessible and fun. Because of your content I bought a challenger deck and have frequented my lgs for FNM the last 4 weeks. Keep up the awesome work.
Called it!
I said there'd be a Feldon deck last week when the Prof reviewed the deck boxes.
Got it :)
Will Narramore I even suggested it, so I’m very glad he did!
That opening was amazing, some of the lore behind characters like this is amazing and your reading was amazing great work Prof
Prof, I've seen and heard you talk about your Feldon deck for a long time. Was SO excited to see you make a video about it. Thanks!
what a flashback, to rewatch old episodes, how lovely.
Hey Prof just dropping a line to say I love your videos and how in depth they go. Keep up the good work!
I've been waiting for this for quite a long time. Thank you professor!
The story of Feldon, which I found in the back of a book found in the back of a store, was what got me interested in Magic lore. This deck seems much more complex and interesting then just mono red goblins. Thanks for the Deck Tech
I was literally just working on a Feldon deck when I opened RUclips and saw this video!
Thanks Prof! :D
Videos like this are why I started and have kept watching. Thank you, Professor.
I have never even heard of this card before today. Thanks, Professor! This is definitely on my list of decks to build. Seems like fun.
Yuriko, the Tiger's shadow next please!
Ninjas rule
Victor Hoang I’ve got a $50 list that’s actually pretty good if you wanna see.
Man That Games Yes please!
Ok here you go: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/02-08-18-PEi-ninja-tribal/#c3359765
Don’t worry that it says it’s more expensive than I said the Card Kingdom estimate is incorrect. Also, it is a work in progress so do not buy yet. I’ll say when it’s finished. ;)
I fee like we need another Kamigawa/ ninja set to really be able to make a good ninja tribal edh deck since there's only 12 ninjas and a few of them are un-set cards.

Awesome video, soundtrack was perfect, Feldon jumped up in my "keep an eye on" watchlist! Thank you Prof!
Feldon was my first EDH deck. So much fun and so resilient for mono-red!
"...hug your mom." This made my day! :)
Honestly, I have to stop watching your EDH decktechs, because every damn time I am compelled to build the decks you present us. Great job, yet again!
I've been waiting for this for a long time. I've been more of a Daretti fan truth be told, but I'm glad to see you tackle a red artifact deck finally. I might go ahead and give this a go myself.
Love the lengthy lore at the beginning, I wish every commander profile had that much flavor. Would love to see Jhoira next!
this deck looks cool!
If I remember correctly Celebrant goes infinite with Kiki-jiki as well. Infinite tokens and combats.
That goodbye hit me right in the feels.
I built a Feldon deck after watching this and its the most fun in mono red I've had. Feldon is definitely in my top three commanders of all time.
Feldon of the Third Path is one of the best-designed cards in all of Magic in terms of function meeting flavor. Always nice to see him get some appreciation.
Great video! Very helpful. I never quite knew what to do with Feldon when I got the preconstructed Build From Scratch EDH deck. Thank you!
Thanks for another great video. Feldon has all ways been a favourite of mine, just never got around to building it. Thanks for the inspiration
This is great, I really loved the introduction. I didn't know his story but I'm glad to now.
I'm so excited to go to my local game store and start building this deck, it looks like so much fun!
Beautiful stuff as always. I run Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient and Feldon is his best buddy.
The story of Feldon is my favorite story in magic. It also is nice for explaining that you aren't summoning the real creature legendary or not, but just a copy from you memory. As impermanent as Feldon's Loran.
Professor I enjoy these commander deck videos you're making. Please continue to make these kinds of videos.
I really enjoyed the lore in the opening, always gives some nice flavor to the commander.
My request was approved! Thanks Professor! I absolutely love my Feldon 😍!
Great video. This really opened me up to some cool possibilities for running him as commander!
Saturday morning Prof! Better than Saturday morning cartoons as a kid!
'bloodshot cyclops' is a nice include for a feldon deck. fling the creatures before they are sacrificed. 'kazuul, tyrant of the cliffs' is great for defending you. 'fateful showdown' is an underrated wheel effect, that can let you get yet more damage in.
I love Feldon as a lore lover and EDH player. He just so interesting to use!
9:29 I have a clever nickname for Magus of the Wheel; Pat Sajak.
Prof about Ramp and ETB: "There's not much in the way of creatures beyond that in mono-Red.
Enter Dockside Extortionist >:D
Technically Soulbright Flamekin is ramp in mono-Red, but it's a very limited ability; you have to pay 6 generic to get 8 red mana. But it works, and it grants select creatures trample.
Red also has some interesting ramp cards these days, like Cursed Mirror, Treasure Nabber and of course, Braid of Fire. That last one is really weird.
Love your edh decktechs and that lore introduction was amazing :)
Nice deck, thanks professor! That lore at the beginning was nice too!
As a mono-red lover who hates the current condition of mono-red... I love this. Thank you with all my heart.
So I know you just did a mono-red deck so I wouldn't expect this for some time, but a Grenzo, Havoc Raizer Chaos deck seems like a whole lot of fun!
I think we need to clarify a small bit about sundial:
You have to activate it in response to the exile trigger.

Great work
Reanimator is my new favorite archetype. Thanks for the ideas for good reanimator targets for my rakdos modern deck
I almost bought Feldon when card shopping for my commander deck yesterday. Top stuff
Oooh! I was waiting for this since your last Deckbox review!
As a commander feldon isent great being mono red. But your combo is 100% correct. He sees play in blood pod becaous of that kiki jiki resurect trick. Great video.
bloodpod?
A stax hatebears deck focused around birthing pod, thereby the name. The commanders are Tana + Tymna.
Goodgle it: blood pod EDH
Been waiting for this to come out
sound like a fun deck. I agree that the intro was very well done.
Anyone else see Feldon as an auto Include in future Brudiclad builds? :) Great vid prof, flavorful and informative!
Great video enjoyed all the synergy and strategies you put into the deck! I would love to see Kumena or Kaalia as a commander deck next. Thanks
Never played commander but this seems as a wholesome deck! Makes me wanna go find people to play commander with
If you have room for it, Panharmonicon is nuts for double a tokens etb effects, since they will be artifacts when he reanimates them as sad robots (because they're dead). And Warstorm Surge.
A personal touch in my Feldon deck is Heretic's Punishment. It self mills and deals damage. You can also get some back end damage of Vicious Shadows, but that's a meta call at 7 CMC.
I’m a returning player to the game and I find entertainment in your videos prof
Nice video! I like to see unusual and non-linear builds. I might just try it out and see where it takes me
It's important to note that his ability is an "at the beginning of the next end step" this means you can make a token after the start of the end step and keep it through to the next end step
I could listen to that first part by itself and be quite happy.
Wow! I loved this video, you should do more commander decks professor
Very nice deck prof!! I was figuring out how to build a feldon deck myself so this video is perfect as a setting Stone for my own take at the deck!! Greetings from Spain
I was about to cry during the intro, but then the video started
I felt so sad after the story of Feldon. Keep that storytelling up, prof!
Beware the Bojuka Bog. Your videos are fantastic, I'm sure to leave a comment everytime after watching your last video on Supporting RUclipsrs.
Good Morning!! coffee and the Professor first thing in the morning ... ingredients for a great Saturday
