Added A Cartridge Filter To My Sand Filter - I Have 2 Filters On My Swimming Pool

- Keep your water clear and pool clean by adding a second filter to your sand filter. You do not have to only use one filter, but 2 or more can be added.
I am currently running my pool with a sand filter and cartridge filter combo to help reduce any debris or dirt from returning the pools water after being filtrated.

So I too added this cartridge to my sand filter pump system an FINALLY had clear pool water! Thank you so much.
Just did this yesterday. Got a sand filter to replace old Cartridge filter a couple months ago and it wasn't doing the job. My pool went from Brown (well water ➕ chlorine) to clear in hours instead of days by the combination of the 2!!!! Thank you for showing me this about the only video on RUclips showing this. I do have my cartridge filter 1st because backwashing my sand filter let's out way too much water of the pool.
I have alot of trees and heavy swim load and struggle to keep pool clear at times. I just installed a cartridge filter after my sand filter and wow such a difference in how clean my pool is
Hey buddy. For the lid, use the adjustable oil wrench that is used to remove a oil filter to your car. This will help you to remove and tighten the lid for different lid sizes. Cheers.
Thanks for the tip and watching! I do appreciate it
Always wondered why this hybrid system wasn't the standard from get go. I have a whole house filter on the output of the sand filter and works perfectly and extremely low maintenance.
Have a shot small filter cartridge pump think it would work as just a filter housing?
my wife and I bought our house back in November and have a 12x24 above ground pool. the previous owner didn't spend any expense and did the biggest filtration it did. Like overkill and I am definitely fine with that. I'm a first time pool owner and doing to basic cleaning on it. I notice some dirt particles on the bottom of the pool when it finally settles to the bottom, I thought well instead of vacuuming either siphone or by waste via the filter the sand filter should catch it and it won't get back into the pool, but it does and I am thinking that the dirt particles is so fine that is passing thru the sand filter and not getting filter like it suppose too. I did multiple research and people did a sock skimmer or panty hose. I did the panty hose because it was the cheapest route but it did pick up a lot of the dirt particles. But sitting here, I'm thinking about doing what you are doing. and when vacuuming I'm hoping that the cartridge will pick up the fine particles that the sand filter didn't. because I don't want to keep refilling my pool over and over again. If i can vacuum by filtering the cartridge should get the fine particles and won't blow the dirt back into the pool.
I just got a new cartridge filter to upgrade from the little pump that came with the pool. However, it occurred to me that if the pool has an algae flare-up and I kill it with shock and then use flocculant and it all sinks to the bottom, I won't be able to vacuum it out on waste mode. Maybe the cartridge will catch that kind of stuff better than the sand pump did. But I was already thinking I might look into getting a new sand pump to add on at some point for that very reason. Also, just for extra filtration.
I hear ya. I just took on my first pool home and knew nothing of owning a pool. Moved in and the next thing I know we have a hurricane come ashore a couple hundred miles away, and worked its way inland a ways and right over my new pool. At one point there was about a good four inches of standing water on my pool and patio. The next morning when I woke up, I peeked out the window and my crystal-clear blue swimming oasis was a very impressive, extreme green! It almost looked like it was glowing it was so intense. Eventually I discovered my filter was cartridge style. It took me days to figure it out, shamelessly. I spent hours looking for that damn backwash knob. I even thought the previous owner might have taken it with him to his new pool or was pranking me. Once I finally got my bearings aligned my first thought was wondering if I could add a sand filter to the existing plumbing. OK, you ready? Marks... set... GO! First one to design a 2-in-one combo sand/cartridge filter wins!!😁
When you add a cartridge filter did your pressure in sand filter guage go up few degrees
I am doing that with my intex pool good going
I just read this comment: "You should have a shut off valve before and after the filter unit to isolate it. You are having difficult because the unit is pressurized , after shutting off the isolation valves relieve the pressure of the unit by opening the relief port, just unscrew it. The filter can then be changed easily"
Great idea, and I have thought about this. I might just have to install one. It would be convenient no doubt!
I have the same exact cartridge filter I have a 73111 is it good to get a sand filter I only have a cartridge filter right now
OPEN THE LITTLE PRESSER RELEASE CAP ON TOP SHOULD MAKE OPENING THAT CAP ALOT EASIER
I'm about to set up my 1hp motor double (Sand filter 15" + cartridge 70 gpm) filtration system with a 18kw heater and a clorinador. In what order do you guys recomend to set it up?, meaning Sand first or cartridge first and what next? Do I also have to put up a shut off valve in between every item on the line? I may sound dumb but excuse me, it's my first time setting up a pool. Thank you, I appreciate any help you guys could give me.
Can this setup be used with an in ground pool ? and instead of cartridge can a DE filter be used?
what about the head pressure for the pump?
Could I use the small filter cartridge with my sand filter or would that small cartridge filter not allow correct pressure flow?
What is small canister between the sand filter and cartridge filter
Cloranator
I am thinking of doing this because i have extremely crappy well water. What cartridge filter would you suggest for a 13,600 gallon pool?
question on ur plumbing....
how do u have ur flexible pvc pipe ends into ur equipment? I am going to do the same thing as u. do u recommend unions inbetween?
Yes I do right now... but union's are a great addition. I will likely add some unions at a later time for easy pump removal, etc.
@@easyclearpool okay, will do. question, how are u connecting ur pvc to ur filters and pump?
What kind of hoses are those I’m needing to buy them so I can do the same thing except my pump is going to be dc solar with both the filters I currently have the sand filter on with a ac motor in changing the motor to be purely solar
PVC Flex Hose
Interesting that you didn't do it in reverse. The cartridge filter requires less cleaning, and filters larger particles than the sand filter... so putting it first would reduce filter cleaning requirements overall, since most of the gunk would get caught in the cartridge, and the sand would filter only the smaller particles the cartridge didn't catch... that would probably triple or more the time between backwashes on your sand filter. Pretty much exactly what I'm considering with my current DE filter. It's old and not working as well as it could, but the DE would still be beneficial in my filter system to catch the ultra small particles a cartridge can't
You have it backwards.
@@AbideinChristSealed I'm wondering the same thing. The problem I have is I have well water and everytime I backwash too much water goes out of the pool then I have to fill with well water again. Just did the set up yesterday with cartridge 1st and it has made my pool the cleanest it's been in a long long time. Just had to clean the cartridge a couple times but didn't lose any water from pool!
Did you notice any reduced flow by having the two filters
No, the flow hasn't been affected that I can tell as long as both filters are kept clean.
What you think about two filter cartridges?
If I were to do that I would go with a filtration system that uses multiple cartridges in the unit at once.. That way the filtration is spread across multiple cartridges simultaneously.
@@easyclearpool where can I find one?
