I would recommend ordering the traxxas adapter(8960x) for this motor. I have the same setup and on 6s the motor moves a bit without it. I just run 4s with it now and it feel like it has more power than stock setup without having to worry about 6s blowing tires off.
I did look into those as well. Only reason I went with the Traxxas system is because of the power up program they have. I put the maxx 4s system in another project I have. Thanks
It doesn't necessarily need a fan but I personally would put one on there to keep the temp down. The stock motor fan didn't fit or I would've put it on there.
I did the same thing and on 6s it cogs badly. Then it red lights the esc never 2 work again. Also traxxas will not warranty the vxl6s system if installed in the Maxx.
I haven't had any issues with Traxxas esc's on all my vehicles but once they go bad I will definitely try some other brand. What do you recommend since you think these are garbage?

I'll eventually do the same with my Maxx. I recommend a battery strap if you notice your clip coming undone.
It's a good upgrade for sure. I ended up removing the clip and added a strap.

Thanks for the sub. The plastic driveshaft didn't like the 6s power (they broke). Waiting for parts to get it going again.

Yes. I took the battery clip off and installed some velcro strap for now

Yes it can. You can put in a 6s esc and it'll work just fine.

Hi, on the VXL 6s you have to disconnect the one of the batteries to turn off.

Yes you can. I just got the complete system cause it was cheaper to do it thru the Traxxas power up program
