I worked for Compaq then HP in the late 90's early 2000's. So sad to see the state of the company nowadays. That moron Carly Fiorina absolutely destroyed those two companies. Outsourced everything to India, sold off the HP scientific equipment. Now all they make are cheap and nasty PC's with no support.

@@RavenVargas27 I forgot to mention, Carly Fiorina was the person that forced the most useless merger in IT history between Compaq and HP. They basically made the same product and had almost nothing to offer each other. Before that Compaq bought DEC (Digital Equipment Corp) so Carly really ruined 3 companies that were all there at the beginning of the computing revolution. For a while they turned Compaq into a budget PC brand before killing it totally. My job was outsourced to Singapore.

We had an HP laptop in the household that was purchased around 2007, and it lasted almost 8 years. It was incredibly reliable, and was used on a daily basis as a work laptop. Right before that laptop died, we replaced it with an HP Envy around 2014/2015 which was purchased directly from HP in order to upgrade some of the specs. And then we experienced the beginning of the decline of HP laptops. The trackpad on that Envy stopped working after only about 2 years, but kept using that same laptop for a couple more years with the help of an external trackpad.
Then we purchased another HP Envy in 2019, which had even better specs. But even with those improved specs, this 2019 Envy was a complete and total POS, and we experienced the obvious decline of HP firsthand, that Envy laptop only lasted about just over 2 years.
After I purchased an Asus Zenbook Flip in 2020, which was the first Asus product I have owned, we went with another Asus laptop to replace the HP. So far so good. Completely Agree with you on HP, their laptops are crap.
I feel like I probably dodged a bullet, right before I purchased that first Asus laptop, I found a great deal on a 13" HP Spectre. Gotta say the Spectre in that Poseidon Blue color was such a great looking laptop. But I realized that from the beginning the Spectre ran hot and the fan was constantly running all the time, so I returned it, and went with the Asus.

I just called HP customer support to find out how to turn on the built-in cell phone charger that is included in the model I purchased. I got transferred to tech support and they wanted to charge me for the call. I had the computer one day. I was able to find the info I needed from a YT video. You are totally right. The HP laptops are simply bad. My last 4 laptops are HP and with the last one I have decided no more. I thought that it has to do with the money that I was spending, not going for the expensive ones but this company whatever does is simply weird. In the last marketing campaign they even try to exploit people by stating 3 years guarantee while the guarantee is only for saying that the laptop has the problem, not the actual task of restoring the damage.
In my last laptop, they USB C starts functioning without any reason after 2 years. The diagnostics give a cryptic code, which you do not know what it means and in order to understand it is, you need to pay HP for this. Of course, a manufacturer can include in the software things that disable the device so that people will pay 100$ for extended support and also extra money for fixing the issue. I do not know what you I can do to promote your work.

I learned this about HP back in the mid 1980s. In 1979, I purchased an early release of their mid level HP 32E, a scientific LED calculator in the "Spice" series. As they snapped them together as cheaply as possible to hit a price point, the early "Spices" started coming apart internally. It happened to mine within three years of buying it. The display started malfunctioning. Within months it was a useless paperweight. When I inquired about sending it in for repair a year later (1984ish), they quickly told me that it was an out of service model that they would not repair at any price, that they had moved on and expected me to as well. Essentially go buy another one. This was the first company I'd come across with that attitude toward their products. We would see it again in other companies. Like the home appliance maker, Wh**lp**l based in Michigan in more recent decades. It is like they are insiders on the "End of the World" plan and goodwill and customer loyalty have no value to them.

My experience is that HP computers have a staggering tendency of self-destructing. I had an HP laptop that the Wifi simply randomly went kaput and later the GPU because of their crap cooling solution. At work, HP workstations have a staggering record of randomly having PSU failures kissing itself and motherboard goodbye while older Lenovos still work fine. Also their keyboards love to get fried at random too.

They force you to chat with the website bot that is of no use . Even the whats app is of no use. Even calling is unbelievably hard. What i learned.....I will only buy a laptop if the retailer and brand site check out in terms of after sales care and YES i WILL read reviews and if those reviews dont check out i will avoid buying that brand all together. Its crazy that customers have to beg for service.

The quality of their products has significantly decreased since the early 2010’s. I currently have two HP laptops, a pavilion we bought brand new in 2017 and an EliteBook 2570p that is 11 years old. The plastic case on the 2017 HP broke when I opened it to take the hard drive out of it, and at the time the battery went flat and it was overheating. That one is in pieces and in a cardboard box while the 11 year old one is my current daily driver and while it IS definitely thicker, I fully believe it will probably damage the floor if I drop it rather than the laptop itself.
Another thing I love about the EliteBook is how easy it is to work on. One latch, battery comes out. Another latch, back cover comes off, socketed CPU, up to 16 GB of ram support, you can pretty much upgrade everything in that thing.
I don’t like newer HP stuff, but the older stuff I would consider

The battery only last about an hour and a half, it's sooo slow right out of the box, by the time you start to do what you want and need to do on it the battery starts to drain like crazy. The disc drive drains the battery extremely quickly while playing DVDs and it skipps really easily while playing. The battery is tac welden on so you pretty much have no options for a better battery with a better capacity. Granted, company I work for recommends to our customers only Elitebooks and a very few Probooks... overall, great experience. 3 years NBD warranty works as advertised, but is rarely needed. Here in New Zealand, HP suppliers in general sell limited choice of spare parts, but they do direct us to official spare parts suppliers and certified repair centres, for machines out of warranty. Speaking of which, we do have very similar experience with Dell Latitudes. All other brands we have looked into in the last 10+ years, had much more flaws - either in quality of products, or quality of local support.

I understand your points. Especially the printer one. But I do not get how you think Dell is any better. At least from a laptop point of view.
Dell has been using shady business practices for years now. They sell gaming laptops that are same or higher price points than other companies that cannot even perform as intended. Have you seen the thousands of reviews on their G3/G5/G7 from 2020 that explain the heat issues? What about the Alienware M15 R2 from 2019 that had thousands of heat issue complaints? Pay $1000-$2000 for a "gaming laptop" that cannot even game without hitting 100 degrees on the GPU or CPU then stutter and throttle down.
Same with their new Alienware M15 R5 that just launched with AMD components. Already a bunch of reports that 2 of the cores are rather not working or disabled. It isn't just their gaming line either. The XPS series has thermal issues and wobbly/loose trackpad issues. And their customer service seems like a nightmare. Have you seen Linus Tech's secret shopper videos where they call Dell?
All the power to Lenovo, MSI, Razer, Apple, & Apple. I actually like HP. At least my Pavilion 15 that I have been using for 5 years does not overheat and has not had any problems. But Dell seems like the worst company out there followed by Asus.

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  3 года назад +2

Agree'd on Dell's higher end models having issues. I've posted other videos regarding Dell's lack of quality on their Alienware and XPS lineup. When I refer to Dell's better machines I'm usually referring to Inspiron or Latitude lineup (where we tend to get far less back for servicing).
Dell's customer service is also far from the worst in our experiences. We've experience + our clients Dell sending out techs to do service and repair work and while the fixes or repairs may not be high quality, it doesn't take too much to get Dell to outright swap out a machine for a new model either (which they'll often do for Alienware and XPS machines). It's not to say Dell has stellar customer service, but we've had less problems with them than HP.
With our HP reps, we can barely get parts or service for in-warranty repairs much less out of warranty repairs. If you have had a good experience with HP, more power to you. I, and most of our clients / viewers, can not say the same.
I suppose experiences can very person to person. Either way, thanks for watching and commenting!

back in 2018, i received an hp laptop as a gift. it worked pretty fast for the past couple of weeks. after that, it went to complete crap. it takes a total of 5-6 minutes to boot up, then it takes sooo much time comprehending my password after typing it in, then as soon as i get into it, it lags horribly and the performance is extremely poor. what makes it worse is that the computer heats up as soon as it starts up and the fan sounds like a jet. i dont understand how HP is a "successful" brand when their computers are terrible. i switched to mac a few years ago and it's 100x better than hp of course. also, the worst experience is when one time i clicked on the dvd tray button so i could watch a old dvd, the tray decided to pop completely out of the computer and was completely broken. it made NO sense. so generally, hp is a huge flop.

I totally 100% agree especially about their printers. It's the worst. I recently bought a new HP 9020 series printer all in one ..for starters .. setting up the HP scan app was the most tedious confusing task. When u go on their website its of ZERO help. They just try to make u download their stupid HP smart app. This stupid app literally HAS A SCAN OPTION BUT it does not work. You have to download a separate driver just for the scan. This by itself was so confusing. Anyway, i figured it out...the printer then worked fine for about a few months until it said it needed to update and refused to do any tasks without the update. So... i clicked UPDATE. This TERRIBLE PRINTER WOULD NOT UPDATE FOR NOTHING !! It literally refused to update. Even when I tried doing it manually on the computer / trying to get the drivers myself, it didnt work. And when u check their website, they literally only want u download that waste of time HP SMART app. I ended up having to just use a cord and this is the only way it works. I will never ever buy an HP product again. I hate HP

Yes, I am having trouble installing a driver for an HP Printer because it says the 'Serial Number is Invalid', even though the serial number is printed clearly on the machine. The S/N doesn't have any 0s or Os or 1s or Is in it to mix up either.
Can't get past the automated phone assist because the 'Serial Number is Invalid'.
Can't reach an actual human either.
Tried to get on the HP Community to ask for help and never received a confirmation code via email (not in the spam folder either) to join that forum.
Hours spent in this and getting nowhere.

NEVER buy an HP. I work on computers all the time and have had computers given to me for free or found on the side of the road that are faster better specs and just generally 10x better than what HP offers. Especially their models for $500 or less. But even the expensive ones are a huge ripoff for build quality and what you get spec wise. Not to mention they are loaded down with useless programs and bloat ware.

Horrible customer support, screen border literally broke off, (fixed it, then it broke off again.) extremely slow, (cant even open google after installing minecraft), the battery also slowly started becoming worse and worse. At first it started dying 2 seconds after getting the second battery warning. Then, it died before i could even get the second battery warning. Then, it died without even giving me a battery warning. And soon enough, the laptop started to become always dead. It was always at 0 percent, and had to be plugged in at all times. After, it started dying even when it was plugged in. And now, cant even open it without it dying upon start-up. I cant stress it enough, dont buy this horrible monstrosity of a laptop!

I opened it a few times to change ram or hard drive and the cheap plastic broke, it's still holding together with screws though but yeah overall bad experience and I get 2 hours battery life at best even on a new battery. I bought a new Acer laptop recently and the difference are night and day. I feel like Acer gives you something better if you want to buy a cheap laptop than what HP would give you for the same price. My new Acer laptop last at least 6 hours on battery and has better quality plastic and everything works well.

Whereas some cheap sub 450 dollar hp notebooks without a brand name will probably have their hinges broken in the next two years. Notice how cheap laptops don’t pass the one handed test.

Because of HP's predatory and unethical business practices with respect to its printers, we've gotten rid of all HP printers, and we are transitioning to other brands. I have an HP 10B business calculator that has worked wonderfully since the early 1990s. It still works beautifully. Here is a real story of mine (made on the HP i'm rating this on)
Absolutely TERRIBLE. Being a midrange laptop, it should have a more reliable built. One day I'm using the laptop and the screen just randomly starts breaking. Had to replace it for over 50 bucks (I'm not converting it from VND)
When I bought it, it came with a bunch of preinstalled bloatware, slowing it down drastically. At idle (with no apps visibly open and most closable apps in the tray closed), it takes 4 GIGABYTES OF RAM. There is also McAfee, which at the end of the first month owning it, keep on filling the screen up (similar to the "You're about to be signed out" dialog, graying out the whole screen and stopping you from doing anything until you click OK.) There was also an option to disable FAN ALWAYS ON LIKE WTF, WHO EXPECTS THE FAN TO ONLY TURN ON WHEN THE PC'S OVERHEATING? The trackpad, from when I first used it (Around May-June 2020 to early May 2023), the trackpad suddenly had 4 points where the nonslip layer is broken. It still works fine. Sometimes I had to press the POWER button TWICE to turn it on, it's really annoying when you need to get work done.
Back before I used this PC I had a reliable Dell. But due to an accident (running out of battery while removing an app), I had to replace to this crap. I just want a better PC.
Free advice: Never use HP again.
Overall rating, 2/10. There was only a few usable aspects, overall a really bad laptop with really bad build quality. I'm gonna save up for a better laptop.
Morning 28/05/2023 update (I live in GMT +7): It's so laggy its almost unusable

I have spent hours trying to figure out a fix.
Have absolutely NO support options whatsoever.
And HP has absolutely no drivers or downloadable bios for this model.
It is barely over 1 year old.
Beyond stupid. Beyond frustrating. and this computer was not anything I recommended.

I was looking for why HP products have been so hated for over 14 years, that is especially laptops.. when I was actively working as a system administrator from 2006, even then we advised everyone not to buy HP laptops. the funny thing was that we had work laptops from HP 🙃😵‍💫 at that time, exactly that support was also talked about. especially when something went broken. that's why brands like Toshiba were preferred, which I think had the best range of services at the time, then IBM, Fujitsu, Dell. the HP brand cannot be denied their supremacy in printers and various scientific devices. unfortunately thair printers are extremely stagnant and the good models are now in the museum. the problem arose when they started pushing themselves into spheres where they had no experience. I was already waiting for them to start making refrigerators 😆 /-machine translated-/

I just had my second all in one crash on me in 2 years. It could very well be the OS. After Windows 7 MS platforms began to turn for the worse especially with updates over and over again. Of course my favourite used to be Toshiba (I still have my, going on 10 years now, laptop), but we all know how the company turned out... If HP disappoints me, I doubt I'll give it a second chance.

Every computer is better then hp. I have 2 hp computer in my life, and i feel a headache when I think about them. I have a hp printer that is making me homeless. You will get hp products for free, you don't need to purchase a headache with money.

They’re truly awful. I’m going back to Lenovo after I get rid of my garbage 2019 HP Envy.

I will never buy this brand and I recommend my friends to avoid HP in my HP pavilion (i7 8th gen)
audio jack for headphones has too much loose and when I move cable slightly i hear sound trough speakers like the headphones never existed.
Bezels start falling apart after one year even though i wasn't doing any acerbations with the laptop seems like was manufactured from the cheapest plastic on planet.
Wifi Adapter inside is loosing signal constantly and with that model it's a common problem so I needed to buy external WIFI adapter.
Plus is over heating super fast when I edit videos and when its super hot all the performance slows by half.
and yes HP support doesn't exist
I live in Netherlands and the only way to investigate what's wrong with mine was to ship laptop to different country and maybe they will do something maybe not (after paying all shipping of course) which is a very bad joke from that company that doesn't care about client even if you have guarantee.

do ur games also run on 30 fps all of a sudden? cz i also have the hp pavilion core i7 but 9th Gen and i cant even run league on a decent fps and even other games they peak at 40fps and start going down to 30 and sometimes stutter at 15fps its so frustrating

@@wassouki same with my pavilion 15. Also they are malicious with what they offered. HP say i have the m2 slot, and yes i have it, but in order to be functional i had to buy the solid-state drive cable, solid-state drive converter board, or solid-state drive holder and ofc solder it by myself in the motherboard. Basically a complete scam
