I think the direction for the sengoku is to act as second searcher in the game, also being able to trash hina / helmeppo to be rebecca/moria fuel is kinda good
To add onto that and address Vivi’s question as to why sengoku is so restricting: OG black navy cards trash from hand, as does this sengoku, except now we have Moria to play with/around
Idea for smoker ability: Don x(?) - Choose one of your characters with a cost of 6 or less. That character cannot be targeted by your opponent until the start of their next turn. Or something evasive like that
Man, having the leader get the 1k bonus on defense as well sounds really cool. No idea how good or balanced it would be, but generally, going to 0 cost isn't optimal or that easy later in the game even with stage for example, so it would have been nice to get more of a reward for getting your full leader effect
One thing I noticed about the 1C sengoku card is that it has great synergy with Gecko Moria , possibly trashing a borasalino+ brannew, it’s very specific but end up drawing 4 cards I see people running maybe 2 of
I honestly think that filling up the trash is becoming less a "dressrossa" or "thriller bark" thing, and more a black thing in general. How you use it then becomes the playstile, CP recycles it in deck, thriller bark revives, dressrossa puts it back in hand and plays it from hand, and now navy is starting to experiment on it as well.
@natebeal18 thats why i wrote the optimal build most likely will be Moria & Rebecca like other mono black decks. but theres nothing wrong wishing for something different.
Senguko is perfect for a navy deck, all the good black navy cards dont have counter and are therefore hard to get into the trash without 5c sabo/ them being destroyed after being on the field (which requires you don to play them and an opponents action which you cant force). The strongest black high cost cards are also not searchable in a standard navy deck (cards like moria, 8c sabo, 10c kuzan, ...). He has the same function as a searcher (he replaces himself like tashigi/ branew) while giving you options to bring back with rebecca/ moria.
I considered running Ice Age and I might run it as I playtest the deck more and revise it etc but remember, this is just a rough draft and first attempt with introducing new cards to the deck. The entire deck will change again once the ST-19 cards drop.
Would you consider running finger pistol from Eb? Most the new cards from st19 have you return cards from trash to bottom deck so I wonder if finger pistol could help with that since it’s trashes off top deck so you don’t loose card advantage. Plus 4 Don to remove a 5c is pretty decent, only problem is it’s not searchable. Also would you use the st6 double attack smoker in the final build with the new cards? Or would there not be any space for it? It’s one of my favorite cards so I hope there’s builds that use it
I will update it when we get all the cards revealed for it, but those are some solid options you listed. I don't know about the ST06 Smoker, but it's very possible, we'll have to see.

Don't ever complain about cards being too specific to a leader or color, that's how we get a more balanced game. We have to value this kinds of designs, variety and powerful cards for all decks (Like black maria should have been only for Kaido)
Agree. I prefer the cards to only be used according to the storyline. Like strawhat with heart pirates. If the characters never teamed up, takes away the fun of it

People complain about leader lock, but lack of leader lock is how we get op08 RP law or op05 sakazuki.

i will play this deck wishing the optimal build wouldnt include Moria but probably will.

It seems like black is getting more mechanics like trash management and increasing allied costs
Personally for me as a new player this gameplay is too fast to comprehend what you do and why.
We should just make up our own rules to save all the leaders

all black play moria, so all black want trash unfortunately. I would like to return to old smoker playstyle.
