Seeing this is a big deal for me. Its a great and wonderful learning lesson about one aspect of bee keeping I may have never heard of if not for your video.. Thank you all. I want to start keeping honey bees and I'm learning all I can before I get my first hive.
I'd suggest using foundationless frames, that way you don't have to cut anything out. Just frames and rubber bands. Good job though. Nice to see kids getting into bees.
Instead of using smoke, try a mist of water with a drop of mint oil in it. It doesn't make the hive smell or taint any honey. Bees just think its raining.
The hardest part of this style of trap is, transferring bees plus the queen into a permanent hive without worrying about the queen escaping. I was worryed that the queen and the workers could swarm to a tree where is hard to get it back down to a box.
Jody Reeder you can order some online . Here's a link . www.greenhousemegastore.com/product/13099/paper-pots?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIranwrcq-2QIVzbbACh1SIQslEAQYBCABEgIknfD_BwE
putting the poor swarm into plastic base. not good. when bees settle in and have nothing else they will settle for plastic base, but a swarm will do anything to avoid plastic unless covered with bee wax. Then maybe.

The bees were being so nice we did not need to rush anything .
Quick question, any advice on where I can get pots like those? I've looked in my area & have been unable to find anyone to sell them. TY.

You can use a bucket.
If you cannot get what you want in your area you will have to think of another option, create what you want.
They sure built some beautiful comb.
Don't wear a black colored suit. Bees see that as a threat, like a bear .
Make sure you catch The Queen
Nice Job!
wouldnt it be easier to just use a swarm box ? well i reckon itll be quicker

Homework, kids. Watch a RUclips video or 10 mounting cutout comb in bare frames.
