I found three of these Captain Fantastic pinball machines over my 35 years of collecting and played many other ones too. I got to say your machine is the best playing and condition one i ever seen. It is so nice it belongs in a museum. Thanks for sharing such an like new example!
Dude!.. I really appreciate your posting this. I cut my pinball teeth on Captain Fantastic machine. The sound and rhythms .... oh and even the way you bump the table brought back some great memories. Keep playing it and never let it go. It was the best one they ever made!
It really depends on the overall condition of the playfield. Some playfields will not as look shinny and smooth compared to others due to wear. This machine's playfield was in excellent condition which is the main reason why it looks so good. A Pinball Wax or Carnauba Wax can be used to wax the playfield.
In the early 70's Gottlieb made a few games that had dual flippers in this style but usually they had four flippers at the bottom instead of three. Williams did have Dealers Choice that had a top right side flipper. I believe Captain was the first to use three flippers at the bottom along with a top side flipper.

I'm watching this right before I go to bed. I'll be up for at least another hour burning off the adrenaline. :o)
I spent many, many hours playing this game at DePaul University in the 1970's.
I own machine 4222. I've owned it since 1982. I wish my playfield was as nice as yours. My machine is 100% maintained and ready to play at all times.
I turned this machine over in 1976! I'm still proud of myself.

I agree, it was great...
Many late nights at Buena Park California, Buena Bowling Alley. Great countdown when you maxed out the bonus.
Love that OVER THE TOP buzz! Cool game!
I just saw the movie Tommy and boy the pinball Elton John plays IS REAL! Very nice electro mechanical marvel of the 70s, an enginnering piece of art!
May I ask, how did you get the playfield so shiny and smooth. May I ask the process you use to clean your playfield, step by step. Thank you kindly.

Sweet
Did any games before this have asymmetric flippers?
