That handle material drawer... Amazing wootz as always sir, keep up the good work
Very nice chopper. Jamie Lannister would love to get his hand on one of these I suppose.
Beautiful blade and design. Wootz looks the best
OUT (wait for it) STANDING!!!
You are the king of woods is beautiful bowie love handle
And guard fantastic blade..
I've always preferred the look of wootz steel to pattern welded.
That is a great-looking blade!! 7-12s?!? Shizz that is crazy! See you have a ring, wife probably isn't too happy about you working all those hours and then spending your free time in the garage! 😁
Told you on another video I was from Mississippi. I'm from Natchez where James Bowie had his little confrontation with a couple ole boys and he came out the Victor making him famous with the blade his brother had made for him. But so many different stories. I can show you where it's marked on Giles Island to commerate the spot before the Corp of engineers straightened out the river cutting off the sand bar. Just a little fun fact. We have bars and stores named Bowie here with some older variations of the the Bowie and the James Black. I'm sure you've read your full. Ok man, dig your take and I'm sorry I'm just finding your channel. Keep on keeping on!👍
Pretty broad knife. This sure will cut.
Looks well forged. Pretty Damascus steel. :)
Greetings,
Jeff
Damn that is an awesome looking blade! Even cooler that it's wootz steel! Thanks again!
Thank you!
Dude you have got wootz down packed! Such beautiful steel!
Thanks John and thanks for watching man!!💪🏻
Killed it. Love the guard shape
Thanks man!!
Very nice blade what an incredible shape. Certainly was the correct name fighting blade
The metal wizard was at it again 😮
That turned out amazing. I can never get enough of that wootz pattern 🙌🏻
And that wood looks insane 😍
Beautiful blade, enjoyed watching the process.
Great job
It's hard to believe you work 7/12 and you made this knife! Spencer you are my hero and titan! Truly- I'm deeply impressed! Knife looks stunning and I have absolutely no idea how you create blade with different patterns on the surface. I would love to know a little more about this and I believe many people would be interested as well!
Yup I’ve been working 7-12’s for 9 years not but only for 5-6 months during the Alaska summer. We do get 3-4 days off on holidays and a occasional Sunday off but I had to sacrifice sleep to complete this build! Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching man!!👍🏻💪🏻
@@HeavyForge this must be very hard work and big sacrifice for you as a husband and dad. This is another reason for being impressed- with huge overload you still menaged to make knife from scratch. Wow! Dude, respect!
Thats one beautiful bowie my friend. Its amazing how you make your own steel. I have to buy mine online.
😂 Thanks man! And thanks for watching! I’ll be watching you’re build soon!!
@@HeavyForge thanks man hope you like the build
love the design and pattern ... very cool
A beautiful knife from a new crucible/forging process for me (wootz). Thanks for the share/build.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
This is crazy how well you forged it. It'd basically had a great shape BEFORE you got to grinding.
Sir thank you for taking the time to make it and show everyone how it was done instead of a well deserved rest from your job.
What a piece
You win by default by using niobium! Super cool. Hope to see more of your work this winter when you’re not as busy on the road
Thank you! And thanks for watching.
The wootz process is so cool to see. And the Bowie came out beautiful! Nice work!
Oh boy did that turn out well! 🔥🔥🤙
Man this turned out awesome!!
wootz looks awesome, really liking it
Beautiful!
Absolutely amazing watching you make your own steel! Gorgeous knife!
I like the bump on the spine very nice
Dude. That is unbelievably awesome! Wootz steel is fascinating and that knife is gorgeous! Truly awesome work!!
The steel is beautiful! I love the look of Wootz! The entire knife turned out awesome.. Great job!

Badass blade!
Wootz-Wootz!
Great job! Super nice looking Bowie!
That ghosted hamon turned out wicked! I loved that you made your own steel and the knife was beautiful!
Thanks airin and thanks for watching!
One of my favorite blades you have ever made dude!! 🔥🔥🤘🏻
This is so awesome! The science here is freakin badass.
Una belleza de pieza.
Gorgeous piece there! Not as flashy/weird as most of the other submissions but seriously high quality!
Oh, just noticed you're in Alaska! Hello from the Mat-Su Valley lol. Subbed to yah!
Gorgeous work good sir!
inspirational work, that Wootz looks amazing.
Thanks for watching Seth! Much appreciated.
Fabulous work. I especially appreciate your using wrought for the guard, I think it sets off the pattern in the blade very nicely.
I love wrought iron!! Thanks for watching!!
I had subbed your channel before I finished the video.
Seven 12's?
Brother, there is only one you...take it easy on yourself!
Thank you! Yeah road Construction in Alaska is tough and hard on a family. The season is so short so that’s the reason for the long hours. I won’t be doing this forever currently looking for a job with “normal” hours. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Awesome work man! Makes me want to try wootz one day!
Thanks man! You should absolutely try it out but I must warn you it’s highly addictive and Once you travel down that road there’s no turning back! It’s like it puts a spell on you!😂
stunner!
Thank you!! And thanks for watching!!
😳 beautiful
I have subscribed bro.i am from India 🇮🇳 all the best for future projects and like wootz steel technic ,crusible steel thank u 🙏👍🤝
How do you know all this stuff man!? 😅
This blows my mind! Amazing.
😂 reading a lot of boring metallurgical books! And advice from some of the best Wootz makers of today.
Hello . i am new subscriber. came from Voting form
Thank you!
I wanted you to tell us why you choose metals for your alloy
To be honest I just didn’t feel like talking much in the video. As for the Nb. I use for possibly a slight increase in performance and to maybe combat Ostwald Ripening (large carbide growth)
Incredible piece! Looks like a villain would use it.
Beautiful and inspired! Do you have a goto spot for your raw materials? Been looking without much luck. Cheers!
I followed the link, watched the videos but I don't see the "dot" to press to indicate my vote for THIS build
I failed to mention that I’m a judge in the challenge and the general audience can’t vote for me only the other contestants. Thanks for watching!
Really good to see the new video, I have been looking forward to your response to the Fantasy Challenge and think it looks nice. While not a sandbag using the blanket to hold the crucible while removing the ingot worked well.
Questions:
1. Is about the top part of the ingot "the crappy part", I am assuming that it is called that due to it looks only and nothing to do with grain structure or it's strength, is this correct?
2. If there is no issue with grain structure or strength can it be moved to the handle area to not be seen especially for daggers if you do not like it visible? I am not sure about how much extra waste or time it would cause but thought that if you didn't like it showing might work.
The top of the ingot has nothing to do with grain structure it’s just crunchy material being that it sits under the slag and yes you can absolutely put the top of ingot as the handle material it’s just a little more tricky to do that properly.
So, you got that steel by just.... combining different irons? I'm... you sir, are a voo-doo hoo-doo hocus-pocus worker. I think you'd probably even give Dumbledore and Gandalf a run for their respective money.
😂 Thanks for watching!
It was a true pleasure. I just started forging, and I really love/loved watching you work!
I’m tempted to not vote for you just for the rare chance that when you do come and find me I can nab some of that wootz
😂😂😂 thanks for watching man!
👍👍💪
that came out amazing awesome knife beautiful 😀👍👍 Mark.,, Is the handle turkish walnut?
Crosscut Ziricote. Thank you and thanks for watching!
Anyway to buy your work?
Contact me through Facebook or Instagram. Preferably IG. Thanks for watching!
Glass?
Yes! It’s a must, it protects the charge from oxidation.
Can you really get hot enough just using propane?
That’s what I use.
That was very Impressive love the Bowie you made. I wish I could do that.😉
Beautiful. I would like to see your rendition of a 14th century mid evil knights dagger.
Maybe one day. Thanks for watching!
