12:14 I got that backpack and a hoodie for Christmas last month! I love them so much. I wear the backpack to work every day. 😁
Thank you so much I am honored :D
MAPO… I had no idea about that, but it sure is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
OH MY GOSH! How did I miss that! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I actually love that the monorail in Florida is like an actual transportation system. What better way to get jazzed for the park than a ride on the monorail?! Plus going through the Contemporary? Amazing!!!
Right!! It's so cool!
I have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary and grab a monorail ride
I agree, Laura. Since I grew up on Disneyland, when I go to Walt Disney World, I consider both the monorail and the ferry boats to be attractions. The buses not as much, but when I stay at All Star Music and they play (if they still play it -- it's been a few years) "The Long and Winding Road" by the Beatles on the long and winding road back to the resort since it's in the Animal Kingdom area so it's kind of a long drive compared to other resorts, it always makes me smile.
Provost fresh baked park pass!
Only the best!
$1,000,000 in 1959 is roughly just under $9.6mm in 2022.
Love your channel!!!
Holy cow that is crazy!
@@provostparkpassdo you know I just realized remember it 959 2022 before
Fresh Baked and PPP - my two favorite channels!!!!
It was so cool to meet him in person!
I loved riding up front with the pilots as a kid. Great memories of simpler times. Best Simpsons episode ever btw...
I totally agree with both your points :D
I have been on many monorails. Besides Disneyland been in Disneyland Tokyo, Seattle, Singapore and an experimental one in Vancouver that ran on magnets. My favorite area was the bubble in the back. It made you fee likel you had your own cabin with air conditioning. The one in Tokyo had more comfortable cushion seats.
Whoa I hope to experience that one day
@Shaun McKee The magnets are under the train. It worked similar to how the Incredicoaster launches the train and how the new aircraft carriers launch the planes though the monorail was a lot slower.
@Shaun McKee The magnets are lined up in series. They are activated or fired as some call it in order. The responding fields pull and push the cars in sequence as the fields form and collapse. The fields are limited to the bottom of the vehicle and not affecting the occupied inside of the cars.
@Shaun McKee They're electromagnets which are powered individually. The magnetic fields overlap each other by turning the magnets on and off in sequence the corresponding fields move like a wave. The train rides these moving waves like a surf board rides an ocean wave.
@Shaun McKee they are supposed to be born when the Monorail arrives! Sorry
Omg thank you so much for putting the Simpsons monorail song there! Every single time I said monorail I want to keep chanting it because of that episode hahahaha thanks for the facts Chris! ❤️
Isn't that such a fun episode! I love it!
the last time I was at Disneyland with my family was on Superbowl Sunday 2020, right before the pandemic started. Everytime we rode on it we asked to ride in the nose cone it was such a cool experience, and I think my daughter loved being under the glass.
What a fantastic memory Eric
@@provostparkpass she is now 4 and keeps asking to go back to Disneyland, we are waiting until she can be vaccinated. I hope the Monorail is back up and running by the time we get back there.
Thank you for the amazing videos
YES, thank you PPP for doing a secrets revealed of the monorail. This has been a most anticipated video in our family. We love the history of the monorail. It is a ride at Disneyland that is alway looked over and people forget to ride it. It is a great mode of transportation if you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Awesome job you guys. :)
You guys make me blush. Thank you for watching :D
It's looks like new ride days 15th April@@provostparkpass
FRESH BAKED! I'm a fan and subscriber for both you guys! :)
He is really professional and nice
Gotta love a Fresh Baked crossover event.
I was so stoked to meet him in person!
Great job, Chris! I was smiling the entire time. LOVE Disney history! I think you need to do this for all Disney transportation- trams, boats and skyliner. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into your videos. You are amazing! Not as amazing as Amanda, but still amazing. 🤣😉🥰
Linda your comment made me laugh out loud. For real I LOL'd. Thank you and yes I agree with you about Amanda
I have always loved the monorail. It's such a cool attraction. You get to see Disneyland from a whole new perspective.
I love the story of how MAPO got it's name! Similar to how nylon got it's name, developed in labs located in New York and London = NYLon.
I’ve never ridden in the tail cone, but I have been fortunate to ride in the nose cone at least three times. Best seat in the house!
I sat with the driver on time.
When I was three, I also dropped my shoes between the wheelchair ramp and the Monorail and they had to shut down the whole ride!
No way!! What a fun and funny memory!
I learned new things about the Monorail. Thanks!
One time when we were in Fantasy land we kept hearing yhe Monorail honk. We went over to where it was stopped by Alice in Wonderland and there were a few of the Disney ducks just chilling on the track. They just stayed there for 10 or 15 min. I guess the ducks had a big day at Disneyland and needed the rest. Haha
I love your videos they always bring back memories of our visits to Disneyland!
6 minutes ago i was tired. Now I'm Provostd.
5:52, actually with these new Mark VII Monorails at Disneyland, they can only have 2 on the rail at 1 time, because the Mark VII use a higher voltage then the Mark VI
Whaaaaat That is so cool!! Thanks for sharing
Alex... how many volts do the Mark VII monorails require?
Love Ya Chris!!! Good to see you again old friend.Been working on Puns/Dad Jokes for ya! lolol
been blowing those horns 3 times a lot over the past few months as the new trainees (I'm assuming trainees) would tend to overshoot the platform a bit and had to back up, with ppl on board. 👍
They were telling me that Monorail blue kind of glides a little so it's harder to stop on the right spot for new hires. :D
@@provostparkpass Wait... didn't you say at 11:54 that we never hear 3 honks because they never go backwards with guests on board? What happened to the guests on board the monorail at 12:09? Also, how can you be on a 5 honker if they never backup with guests on board? TIA for your reply!
The downtown Seattle monorail is also made by ALWEG it's the ALWEG Seattle monorail, I love these trains such a cool and neat use of transportation, just think how cool it would be in the future if we traveled from city to city in them
Real reason no monorails happened was because of Goodyear and Buses. Crazy history, same time they removed all the trolly cars in LA
Makes you wonder what if?
Imagine getting on the monorail and seeing PPP AND Fresh Baked! Awesome!
David is the best!
Love Fresh Baked! I wish I could run into any of you guys. Great video, reminded me of Adam the Woo and his quote "There goes the Monorail"
HAHAHAHA Adam is the best. Fresh Baked is so classy
"There goes the monorailll" That was for you Adam the Woo lol
Hey Chris! I learned a few new facts about the Monorail! - The odd /even number system, RELTAW Enterprises and the "honks" ! :)
I bet the "honks" was your favorite part. :D
Chris, you outdid yourself!!! This video is absolutely amazing and jam packed full of amazing and fun facts!!! We loved learning all of these secrets!!!
Yello! lovely i never new any of this! i tell my parents about these secrets and other are like how do you know this then I tell them about your channel lol. thanks so much for this fun information!
Thank you Mr. Spoopy
I’m not even tempted to go to Disneyland (die hard DW fan here), but watching your videos is making me want to visit!
Come on in the waters fine :D
Disneyland is a very different experience. You will love it!
Avengers!!! You just blew my mind. I wish I could have seen that in person. Thanks for sharing. :)
It was my pleasure!
I was watching a video of someone that said monorails were not a good option for Los Angeles, because monorails could only go 50 mph. So they were not a good consideration for the Sepulveda pass from the San Fernando Valley to Bel Air, UCLA and LAX. However watching this video I did not know that Disneyland Monorail can hit speeds of 70 to 80 mph that is amazing. Great Video 🎉 Bravo I have always thought that the City of Los Angeles has made a huge mistake passing up the Disneyland Monorail for decades. I like that Garcetti entertained the monorail for some time. Maybe one day will get lucky and the big 3 will loose their in influence on the city of Los Angeles. Disneylands Monorail is the most underestimated transit in human history.
You guys are already the best! I’ve always loved the monorail but never appreciated all the best details 🙌🏼. Thanks so much for sharing 💋
Disneyland Monorail crushing my hopes and dreams... going out of service 1 week before my trip... and taking with it the Earl of Sandwich too :(
I am so sad about that to. Not to rub salt in the wound or anything but I had Earl of Sandwich today :D
@@provostparkpass It's fine, I found out recently they opened one up here in San Francisco, so I can get the sandwich it's just it kind of was a go-to tradition of mine to do at least one lunch there. Just hop on the monorail grab a sandwich and hop back on the monorail.
11:52 - 3 honks, which I’ve never heard before
12:11 - Monorail honks 3 times
Funny stuff!
Lucky Day :D
Your videos are always so well produced and educational! Also, good to see FreshBaked! Thank you for all you do!
Thank yo so much Pearl. And Fresh Baked is awesome!
Was awesome seeing you shoot this video and was awesome running into ya too
Awe thank you. It was my pleasure!
Thank you as always..and thanks for including Dave from FB..I follow you and them but I've only met you and your family..I can tell you all first hand that what you see here IS Chis...he I'd just as energetic in person..even at the end of the day...I met them as we were all leaving at closing time
Thank you Robert. That’s very kind of you to say
What a wonderful video!! One of my fondest memories while I was at WDI was riding the monorail one night in the nose cone with a girl I was seeing at the time who happened to be a pilot and getting to take the last trip of the day back into the roundhouse and climb down off the track. I always wanted to be a Monorail pilot after that!!
Fresh Baked Dave and Chris riding monorail together. So cool! 😎
The best! He's so nice
hi provost!
Edit: you should make a video on the tiki room!
Hi Phoenix!
Those were not wooden scissors! It was "someone forgot to" sharpen "the scissors" and when something goes wrong "do it yourself?" And so Walt was able to go there. Watch the special again! I've got it on videotape DVD.
I hope this was the day I saw you at the monorails and waved hi! I would have never imagined to ever see you in person! Love your videos, you rock!!!
It was!!!!
Chris have you been on the monorail on walt disney world, when I was there in 2019 I was
on a mono rail that goes through hotel, but yes my feeling was I enjoyed it i’m florida but it felt like public transport as opposed to a attraction.
Hi Rob yes I've been on WDW Monorail right though the hotel. It is so cool.
Love FreshBaked, Love Provost Pass! Keep going to Disneyland to see if I can run into you guys!!
love Chris's monorail horn impersonation
I was wondering if you could make a video showing the "Transformer Disneyland"... All the things that pop up and change that you may not notice, like where the light towers pop out of the ground for Fantasmic, things that look one way most of the time, and you may not ever notice them change, but when they do they're an important piece of show infrastructure. There's towers near Small World too, which I imagine are used for lighting during parades? (by the elevated seating area for example)
Holy Cow! What a fantastic idea. i will research it!
Awesome video!! Great editing! Loved the background music🎶
Editor Alyssa is amazing!!!!
The first thing I thought when I saw the title of this video was the Nixon kidnapping story. I was glad it was included!! 😂
Isn't it great!
Every single time, you get things I didn't know. Thanks Chris
I love the things you can only see on the Monorail also the Indy building is super cool! Things I’m gonna look for next ride 😃
Love taking the monorail from the park back to the Disneyland Hotel. Saves a lot of walking!
It sure does!!!!
Spot me at 22:03 in the background wearing the jean jacket! My sleeves are dark blue and the rest of the jacket is light blue! I saw you filming and didn’t want to bug you but just know I was SO excited at the possibility of being in one of your videos and there I am!!!!
Great video. Nice to see my two go-to Disneyland vloggers together! I bet he’s not a Padres fan, though! Go Padres!
I have seen you in my trip to Disneyland back in 07/21. Great channel!
Thank you Chi Zhang!
The two-honk thing is common at Disney. I'm sure you know the Mark Twain blows its steam whistle twice when it leaves the dock, but I used to work the late shift, and sometimes I would be driving a pickup truck through the park (that or riding a bike, and both are kind of surreal experiences -- like I've driven and ridden a bike through Disneyland; as you would say, "Whaaaaat?"). And any time you come up to a hose from the hose crew that washes the walkways every night, you have to honk two times before driving over it so the person using the hose knows not to pull it at that time and possibly get hurt.
Granted, a Chevy S-10 horn doesn't sound NEARLY as cool as the Monorail horn or a steam whistle.
And I still laugh about the Nixon Monorail ride story. I read about it years ago, and it's just the funniest thing to me that Walt Disney kidnapped the Vice President.
By the way, you mentioned that both the Monorail and Matterhorn were E-Ticket attractions when they opened. The Submarine Voyage also opened in 1959; it was also an E-ticket (and I miss it, except for when the cabin was filled with body odor). The Finding Nemo version is okay, but I really miss the original. I still listen to the audio from it all the time on my Disney Parks playlist.
And I loved your "one-liner" joke. I'll stop being long-winded now, but this channel rocks.
Great work staying on-track!
Boom pow! 😂💚💙
It was nice meeting you on the Monorail. I was the one that asked for the selfie after the ride. Still need to tag you in that pic. Thanks for fun facts .
It was my absolute pleasure!
Super Awesome video! Love the Monorail! 🚆
Glad you enjoyed it
Two of my favorite Disney RUclipsrs! So awesome!
Hey Fresh Baked! What a cool thing to learn about MaPo! Keep these awesome videos coming Chris!
Thank you Cathy!!
@@provostparkpass Hey Chris, Did you remove my reply with additional information about MaPo because I linked to outside websites when crediting my sources? Let me know, please, so I don’t make the same error again. Thanks!
In the early 90’s I was able to ride in the cabin of the 1st car. It was fun and all you had to do was to ask,
That is such a cool memory!
4:50 Walt Disney technically kidnapped the vice president 🤣
Great video, so much info!! I also love the dude in the Giants jersey photo-bombing you!! Go Giants!! :-)
My favorite Monorail is the Mark VII Red.
It always has been.
I was asking a lot of the Monorail Pilots what there favorite was. And it was pretty even split between red and blue
Aaron, how long has the Red Mark VII monorail been your favorite?
@@WindowtotheMagic Since I was a Anual Passholder back in 2014.
@@aaronochoa-fernandez2726 Awesomeness. Thanks for the speedy reply. I’m a monorail red fan, too!
Been waiting for this one! I love the monorail!!
Doug! Miss ya buddy!
The horn on the monorail was perfect timing 😁
I know right it made me laugh :D
Chris, thank you for your Monorail System Information 💁♀️. We had the privilege of riding with the Captain and they would give our SON his Co-pilot License card. This was the 40 year celebration 🎆. It was signed by Captain😉.
I love your Enthusiasm with Disneyland and California Adventure 😍. Chris you are AMAZING! I wish we can meet you one of these days at Disneyland. Keeping giving us more information 👏 and those hidden Mickey🥰.
Dude, you five honked it! LOL loved it 🙌🚝
So embarrassing 😂💚💙
@@provostparkpass It was awesome!😂
It was great seeing the footage from the PPP Expo. It was a great day and would recommend it to anyone who can make the next one. I also appreciate how unselfishly you promote other RUclips channels. Many would treat them like competitors but your team treats them like co-workers.
Aaron thank you so much for saying that. I am so glad you liked the PPP Expo. I just think all the RUclips channels are awesome. There is plenty to go around.
Actually LA had the the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s nicknamed the Red Cars,. It was a privately owned mass transit system in Southern California consisting of electrically powered streetcars, interurban cars, and buses.
I saw you in the line at thunder mountain!! It was so nice meeting you!!! 😀
On the monorail that pulled into the Downtown Disney stop, and they had to do the 3-beep horn.
I was like, hey! I know what that means! I watched that one video!
I once got to sit down with Brian Crosby as my mom has known him for a long time (since high school I think). He's a great guy and told me a bunch of fun stories about immagineering!
I luv seeing my Disney YTers supporting each other! Great to see Freshbaked
You’re always a blast…we will be in town end of next month…would love to bump into you at Disney. Thanks!
Chris, really great video! You do an amazing job with the research of all this Disney history! I have been on the monorail many times throughout the times I've visited Disneyland. Riding in the front is so much fun. There was one moment before the pandemic was even a thing where I was sitting in the front with the driver and I got the best views and it was a dream come true. You make me smile every time I watch these videos. I never knew that the monorail was hung underneath the track and I find that so fascinating
So glad you like it Joe :D
Might be your best video yet!
Whoa!! Thank you Waxelso that means so much to me!!
Great video and how nice to see people from two channels that I enjoy watching together for a bit! I wouldn’t mind more of a collaboration in the future, but seeing David from FreshBaked! was fun.
I would absolutely love to do more with David in the future. Fingers crossed!
Here here!
We love the monorail!
It's so iconic!
Thanks Chris. Was glad to see your update video. I have heard that they are going to shut it down for DownTown Disney construction. Do you know if that is true? If so when will they be closing it down? By the way, love the monorail. Miss the older Mark's with the observation dome in the front nose. I could have just ridin in there all day. I always thought they made a mistake when they did not have the outside stop at the Disneyland Hotel anymore. Thanks Chris. Love this video. Oh yea. I loved hearing Brian tell the paintings the nose cone story at the Park Pass Panel.
Nice to see you the other day….Go Dodger Blue!
Hoo Boy! YOU! :D
Love our Seattle monorail, I can pretend I'm at DL.😊
The Starbucks area is the old administration building where they did the cast member hiring in 1966- till they made the new bldg. behind the Monorail/Train barn.
I love the heck out of my Haunted Mansion PPP Backpack I got just after Christmas. Also, I do a heck of a Homer Simpson impersonation if you ever need a voice for him or anything Monorail related ;)
As my least favorite Disney attraction, you made the Monorail seem really cool. So cool in fact that I'm gonna ride it, next time im in DL..
3:13 I say: go go trains in North-America!
Oh, and bicycles for relatively short distances. Can be much further than you think though.
I remember when they built DCA THE MONORAIL had to reverse back from the hotel station so the 3 honk has been heard
No way how cool!
I got to ride the monorail during the million dreams promotion with a cast mate and talking with him lead to riding on the lillybelle train car. 😀
I love reveals
As always, a great and informative video! Last time I went to Disneyland (for the PPP Expo), I was on the monorail for a 5 Honker. 😂
NO WAY!!! I would love to hear or be on a 5 honker :D
@@provostparkpass I didn't know there is a name for it until I watched this video. :) He was too far forward, had to back up, went too far and had to pull forward again. I assumed he was new.
One of your best in my ever so humble opinion. Great job Chris. 👍
Wow, thanks! Kurt that means so much to me. Thank you!!
I wish the monorail would stop in DCA 🤩💕
Awesome, thanks for the fun facts. Next time I'm out there, I'm staying somewhere close to Downtown Disney so I will have to ride the Monorail to Disneyland.
You have to!
Fun video and love the history
So cool. I never knew there was a cast member only starbucks! Thanks chris
I now work at the parks for security hopefully I’ll see you guy in person again soon!!!
I hope so!!!!! Look for me tomorrow!
Many years ago I was lucky enough to ride in the nosecone with two pilots, one of whom sat toward the rear of the car. His job, apparently, was to wait until just the right moment and, precisely as we passed underneath a section of track, smack the ceiling of the car with his fist, causing a loud boom and all of us to pee just a little. Good times! 😬
Hey, Chris, this was an awesome video with some great info and really beautiful shots. Thanks for bringing us along! 👍
Jim what an amazing memory!! And thank you for your comment.
Hit the like button for making me smile , lol that's about 1min in. Then a whole bunch more giggles ! Thanx PPP.
