- The Honda XR series ahead of its time and still over forty years later a excellent choice for a reliable dirt bike the four stroke engine is one reason for the reliability with smooth acceleration and no need to mix oil with your fuel .In this video I point out a few of the many innovations Honda came out with on the XR series.
Very cool! I'm rebuilding the engine on a 1980 XR200 right now and it is in similar shape to yours. I also have a 1982 XL500R to rebuild as well. Love these old Hondas.
That is cool I also have a XL500 and I think it is a 82 still runs great.
That's a spinoff from the XR185. I used to have one . Eventually I put a big bore and midrange cam into it , and then put the engine into a 1981 KX125 frame with some fab work .
I kinda remember the 185 but I know I didn't see many of them around here.
Got the same bike it’s a beast I run it up trees and it still runs like it’s brand new
@jonnysuperglide ha ha that's is funny, but I know it's true. I think these were the most reliable bikes made.
You got that right your bike is so nice be safe your videos are cool I subscribed and give you a thumbs up
This was the first and only motorcycle I ever had. I was 12 years old and had so much fun on that thing.
That is a great bike to have especially when younger Iam 58 and still have fun on it .at 12 it would be alot of bike.I know it was a lot for my son at 12
nice bike make me miss my old bike, Still sound good.
Just bought a 1980 200xr the other day. Needs some work but I have it running and riding. It was actually engine swapped with a Honda ATC200 engine. Identical motor but its auto-clutch and pull start. Fun little bike so far.
Funny how there are still quite a few of those ATCs around I almost broke my leg on one of those. Never put your foot down, I learned .so am I hearing you right the xr now has a pull start and no gears?
@liveworkplaywilderness1877 yessir, pull start and 5 speed semi-automatic transmission, no clutch. The atc motor is otherwise identical I do believe, mounts to the frame with the same engine mounts.
That thing runs great! I still have the original cover on my Honda Rancher but its only 22 years old.
I had a 1979 XR185 bought new.
They don't make them like that anymore I think they were too good.
I love that model . Had one when i was 16 in 1981
Yes they are awesome I have a parts bike that I think I will make nice again
my young with honda 400 four. ciao from italia andlike 10
Thank you
@@liveworkplaywilderness1877 i am a new subscribe322. good like for your and my job
Mine just finished is an '83 Pro Link, XR200R model, cycling the rebuilt engine atm, vid on my channel it's a little modded 😂 I had a XL185S which is the same as the XR200 but had chrome wheels not alu, as you said lights where big and heavy originally, had. 4spd gearbox aswell, I've got that XL185 engine for another tuned engine bike build. They always said, indestructible!
I will check your channel.
Thanx!
No problem 😃
It's my dream to find a Honda XL500 one day.
I do like my 500 but I find it a bit big for trail riding im sure you will run across one there is still a lot around as they are so reliable'
Honda nation
I have never owned anything more reliable.
i just bought one as my first bike.. love the thing. i clicked on this video to learn how to ride it better. 😃
They are great especially on trails where it's tight maneuvers with first gear being so low.
Was it me who said too many mini ex videos? Oh, no I don’t think so. However, it could be a good idea to gather many of your mini ex videos into one long one where you show the before and after. Haha that part when the thumb made the talking! Good one.
It was actually my father in law that said it I know he is right but I will never tell him that.
My wife always says I should make longer videos that show the actual finished product so you both are most likely right . i will try that as soon as i actually finish something.
@@liveworkplaywilderness1877 It creates a will to finish projects!
New intro?
I just thought i would try something a bit different I actually would like to make a better one one day
