Edward Yang’s Yi Yi introduced me to Taiwanese cinema. And I’m glad he did. Yi Yi has a special place in my heart. One of the most beautiful & raw films I have seen.
He is definitely up there but i would consider Andrei Tarkovsky, David Lynch, Billy Wilder and Kurosawa, Kobayashi and a-lot of foreign directors but Edward Yang is definitely up there
Edward Yang, such a highly talented filmmaker. Terrorizers was my first film I saw of his, and YiYi just blew me away. Rightfully regarded as one of the finest movies made. Great video, thank you for uploading.
After watching the movie A Brighter Summer Day, wanted to know more about the movie and reached your channel, watched video on Edward Yang movies. Immediately next video about Korean movie Burning. Loved your channel. Excellent introspection and professional video making ♥️♥️♥️
This is a great introspective view and was a pleasure to watch. I am looking forward to watching Yi YI again in a couple of weeks time, but for the first time on a cinema screen. Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to your next videos!
I had the pleasure of watching both A Brighter Summer Day and Yi Yi at a cinema in Newcastle this month and it was sublime to see them on the big screen! Thank you for your encouragement! I have a video on Twin Peaks The Return coming this weekend!
I found your content yesterday through the video about Lee Chang-Dong's 'Burning'. Everything I've seen from your channel so far has been absolutely fantastic. Really well thought out analysis. Excited to see more!
Thank you so much! You don't know how much that means, definitely trying to constantly improve, I like to think my videos have come a long way since the beginning!
Absolutely outstanding my guy! I love how your apporach to the subject feels meditative like Yangs films. This has helped me to think more clearly on Yangs work in ways that I can apprcaite it even more so. Keep doing your thing^^
You earned a subscriber i nearly finished A Brighter Summer Day and might watch Yi Yi in a few days and a-lot of other stuff such a The Burning i will watch that video you made about it and i have a film recommendation for you An Elephant Sitting Still is my favorite film it’s a Asian masterpiece you definitely need to give An Elephant Sitting Still a watch
Hey! I just discovered your channel and it seems I happen to be your lucky 1000th subscriber! Gotta say you're one of the best smaller film channels I've stumbled across in a while, especially love your Wong Kar Wai videos. Best of luck and hope to see this channel keep growing!
Hey!! I'm so sorry I didn't reply, I've been moving and it's been a crazy month, hoping to get into a more regular upload pattern! This means a lot, thank you! I'm still developing my voice, but it's nice to know people like the approach I'm trying to take. As the 1000th subscriber, is there any film you'd want to see me talk about in particular?
@@screen4646 Hey it's ok! Hope that everything is going smoothly and can't wait to see more stuff from you! As for any movies I'd be interested in hearing about, I've noticed a lack of videos on Wong Kar Wai's 2046, and would love to hear your thoughts on the film!
My man. Your essays are top notch. But your sub count and views just does not make sense to me. If you dont mind me asking, what do you think about your growth for this channel? I am fascinated to know how you would view it, because I honestly wish you have even more traction than you already do.

This was lovely. I've only come across Mr. Yang's work today and this was a very thoughtful introduction.
Really good analysis. Great editing as well. Love hearing burial as the backing soundtrack, really helps it all come together.
Edward Yang didn't direct Little Dragon Head, he directed another part of the anthology, Expectations. Tao Te-chen directed Little Dragon Head

Hou Hsiao-hsien and Edward Yang are great
