    I know we're nearly 3 years on from this video, but I just wanted to say that I bought one of these to power my off grid cottage in the West of Ireland. It hasn't skipped a beat. It powers all of my devices, including a small vacuum. The inverter size could be better, but other than that it is perfect for my needs.
    I have it on good authority, thT these can actually go up to 68v input. I have 3 175w pannels in series, with a total of 66v open circuit voltage. This unit handles that absolutely fine and despite the rain and cloud that we get in Ireland, the battery is mostly full by about 3-4pm for me and I've not been able to fully discharge it in a 24hr period yet. I couldn't be happier for the price. It's changed the way I live. Another benefit is that I don't have to pay Putin a cent for my electricity, unlike most other people in Europe. (Although Ireland as a whole is reasonably well isolated from that.)
    Can't say the same about the diesel for my car though.

    Great looking unit. I can see them having a bigger one with higher input from solar. my solar panels are 60v and seeing even higher being produced. I put up my own solar on my house for $5400 including inverter, optimizers, cutoff, etc. No rebates no tax credits. DIY. It has produced 6mw since Dec or 7 months now. The panels I used were used Sunpower 327w commercial panels. These cost $120 each! With that low input voltage I would only be able to use 1 panel. New panels in China are getting to 500w at 19cents per watt or $100 per panel for a 500w.
    Great video and keep up the testing. EVTV has created a larger unit but for homes and way more expensive. I may build one of those for my house. This Buetti design looks like they are on the right tract with lots of options for power connection. I am very impressed. Great video.

    We have this unit and were pop-up camping off-grid for a month in WY. It worked very well and we used portable panels to charge it. Since its cold at night we used a good amount of power to run our heat. It really extended our tech off-grid. A dometic frig worked very well with this unit. The unit also shut down appropriately when it was cold.
    Towards the end of our trip the display indicated incomplete charging, but the charger was not indicating charge going in (green light). We emailed MaxOak and they sent us a replacement display which corrected the problem. We love the unit and Maxoak supported us well to resolve the issue with the display.

    Long time fan here - Hey Will, in my humble opinion, you should try to team up with one of these companies. Send them the specs/design features that you would find ideal, have them build something to your specs with the understanding that you would review/promote that item and both you and they would rake in the profit. Even if it was more costly, people would spend more knowing that it was a high-quality product, especially recommended by YOU!.

    • @rebellucy5610

      That makes sense. I have a small business and had a 'know it all' tell me how things SHOULD be done. So I let her run things to see. She did a good job and offered some suggestions that I never thought of. Unfortunately she admitted that there were many issues she did NOT know about before and gave me a long list of unseen excuses why her plan did NOT go as well as she promised. Lesson- always easier to criticize than do it yourself in a real world scenario.

That's as good as you get in a human. People like this try and try and try until they succeed. Hey Will,
    Another "powerfull" review. Another application that this could make sense for is post-Hurricane emergency power. So much better than a noisy unreliable gas generator, but having the ability to add an additional battery to carry you through the night would be very helpful.

After using it for a few weeks, I’ve noticed that it needs better software because it doesn’t recognize the charge if it’s plugged in overnight, the sun is out and i need to unplug and plug back in to recognize the charge. I believe the bluetti need a new review and new software from manufacturer! Thanks for all you do! Marcel :-)

      Don t buy a used battery ever, For what batteries do, they are not expensive Buy an AGM it will cost the same as a water added battery when considering warranity, dependability etc example at walmart just bought a car battery $150 agm has 5 year warranity. Water battery was 1 year warranity cost $100. But because of great dependability the AGM carries 5 years. Ever get battery acid on you? AGM are sealed and you can position them in any position. I have three motorcycles and two cars and two boats all AGM. But prefer lithium and waiting for their price to lower. Lithium batteries can last 15 years.

      They have actually gone to great lengths to update their web site to address these items. I just received mine - happy with it but I don't have a large load need. (Using it for Ham Radio, Emergency Deployments). Needed a lightweight unit that could be expanded (In the future). Also pricing is still at $1449 from multiple vendors - They also have a charger available that is almost 200 watts for under $80.

    Another Great Video, These bigger EB series are great for Vans and off grid living because they are not cluttered up with a lot of things you don't need, these are about access to power when you need it where you don't need a pilots licience to opperate it, and having big power in a portable package is the perfect problem solver in a power outage ect, WTG Will, thanks again.

  • @AaronGeller
    @AaronGeller 5 лет назад +14

    So Will, I might have to disagree a little bit about this for certain van lifers.
    Being able to output only 108w/9ah through the DC port might be pushing it. Certain units have several DC ports that allow more than double that.
    In the winter, if I have a fridge, heater, lights, and some other electrics running, I might hit that limit.
    I could be wrong on this but I prefer to have a bit more flexibility that a custom system would provide.
    It would be best for someone to do a DC energy audit to make sure they’ll be able to draw enough power.
    Great review!

    • @WillProwse
      @WillProwse  5 лет назад +15

      Oh absolutely! I am thinking of the limit of a standard cigarette lighter receptacle being 120 watts, so 10 amps at 12v. I figure that any standard 12v device should run smoothly, especially considering that it is regulated. But yeah, if you have multiple 12v devices you are totally right Aaron, this will not fit the bill. I should have mentioned that.

    • @kpgetchell
      @kpgetchell 5 лет назад +1

      Hmmm, but TWO of these is not much more than one Goal Zero with Will's MPPT hack. Bonus points because you will then have partial redundancy. My planned van will be more of a long term travel van than full time living. That means extensive time parked also. I like solar generators for that application because here in Pennsylvania, the winters get down to 20 F and the summers get to near 100 F. Not good for permanent installations. But solar generators can be easily pulled out and kept in the climate controlled house until ready to hit the road.

    • @BikeHelmetMk2
      @BikeHelmetMk2 5 лет назад

      I was thinking about that too. A lot of 12v appliances can draw well over 10A. Sometimes 12A or 15A. If you've got two or three of them, I'd think 36A combined would be a more appropriate number. Not just 9A...
      For my own use case, I care less about the inverter size and more about the 12v outputs.

      Also if you do a review keep in mind someone can easily hookup an inline cord to slow the initial startup of let's say a table saw that requires lots of power in the first 3 seconds. Just google - Toolsinaction website with ego powerstation amd you'll see a clear photo of the cord. The ego will be my backup system in my future Ram promaster conversion. Since I already have three 7.5ah batteries and two 5ah batteries it makes lots of sense to use the powerstation for out of the van camping and backup or extra power for the van :-)
