The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.
I'm really glad that the corn field didn't fall in the hands of some project developer that would have turned it into a MacDonald restaurant.
Dennis Frye. I could listen to that man all day long. H's sooo good.
I have studied this battle for 20 years. I will never know it all and thus am still learning more all the time
Well Done as usual. Three Huzzahs and a Rebel Yell for all of you!
Dennis i can't say enough about what you and your associates have done to preserve these precious Battle Fields from encroachment by developers. I've never been to any of these sites, but I get a clearer picture of what took place there by watching these videos. Thank you so much.
So amazing these young men gave it all to preserve their ideology! Many say it is sad, but the men on both sides wouldn't take back their actions because they loved their nation.
Antietam is one of my favorite battlefields to visit as as well. Sorry I can't make it this year so I'm enjoying your coverage today. Hope to walk that hallowed ground again.
I'm passionate about history in general, but it's so sad thinking of all the men wounded and killed as you describe the action! I am a monthly supporter of the American Battlefield Trust, and appreciate all that y'all do.
So happy you have Dennis Frye back on!
yes! More Frye is usually good, more Dennis Frye is always good!
This is one of the best ABT videos I’ve seen. All presenters explained their topics extremely well. I have a better understanding now of the battlefield thanks to ABT. Keep up the great work.
Dennis Frye is a national treasure.
Great to hear!
Hello guys ... watched an old History Channel vid last week with a young Gary Adleman ... time flies ... excellent work as usual

Hope you heal up quick! I feel your pain. I was off hurt for Gettysburg and I enjoyed the coverage. Making lemonade out of lemons
@@GhostofSicklesleg ty sir. This and “Touched with Fire” have been getting me through it. Book about the 5 presidents and their CW service
As always, these videos are incredible! I’m so thankful for all you do. Especially nice to see younger generations becoming involved-Evan and Kevin are extremely eloquent and classy additions! All of you guys are wonderful. ❤️

SAVE OUR BATTLEFIELDS AMERICA 🇺🇸
Thanks for all you guys do to preserve these battlefields and to educate people on the battles fought there.
Very nice. Thank you
And away we go! Great stuff and looking forward to seeing ore during the day. Just FYI, this is the best audio and video I have seen from you guys. Well done all!
Awesome coverage. It was an honour to meet and have a chat with Gary at the LR event on the Reel Farm today. Keep up the outstanding work you do in securing hallowed ground for future generations to study and enjoy. P & J, London, Ontario
Here in Ulster County, NY, we remember the service and sacrifices of the 20th NYSM (aka 80th NYV) who were engaged while serving with Patrick's Brigade. And a company of Kingston men also served with the 102nd NY as part of Greene's Brigade. Always enjoy these ABT videos. Thanks.
Today is the 160th anniversary of one of the most bloodiest day of combat in the American civil war. Every famed unit on both sides had their baptism of fire that day: From the Iron brigade, Confederate General Hood's division, the Irish Brigade, many strategic areas of the battlefield where the fighting was brutal and drenched in blood: Among them the Confederate center which was on a sunken road which later became known as Bloody Lane. The cornfield, which changed hands so many times, to the fight for Burnside's bridge. The Bloodiest day is a appropriate name for this battle.
Can’t make it out on Saturday. Looking forward to heading out there on Sunday
My great great grandfather fought with the Reveres and Holmes in the 20th Mass, the Harvard regiment. He enlisted as a 42 yo in April 1862 and fought with them until wounded at Cold Harbor and mustered out in 1864. That regiment had the fifth highest casualty rate in the union army. William Gartland of County Tyrone, Ireland.
Appreciate your work in outlining the battle. Very informative.
I feel you folks missed an excellent opportunity to film on location the many acres of land preserved, by you, at Frostown Gap and Foxes Gap for the 160th anniversary of South mountain. Thank you for all that you do!
My 3rd great Aunt married Hezekia Poffinberger (1828-1908) in Frederick Co, Md....
Time to get History Underground out there to do a series with you
5 🌟 as usual gentlemen. Like I said, won't miss Gettysburg 160 like I did antietam 160. Hopefully I run into you fellas and get to meet you
My great grandfather would have been with McLaws division in the west woods, but he was severely wounded at Crampton's Gap the day before.
According to the Elliot burial map of Antietam, there was a rebel entrenchment running parallel to the Hagerstown Pike. The entrenchment started near the Smoketown Road and extended northward for an unspecified distance along the pike and a few yards from the east side of the pike.
This is Sooo.... important to learn..no matter what the...❄❄❄ 's, say...there would have been no Emancipation Proclamation without Antietam....
Robert Could Shaw.... Awesome....didn't realize he was there .....THAT is why you study battles....not OBJ...a learning experience...
There is nothing like this in Belgium. I know a ton of battles have taken place in Belgium, since we are a centerpoint in old europe. Medieval warfare, 30 year war, 80 year war, french wars, first en second worldwar, much more battlefields then you can possibly find in the us, but our history seems not to be interested in it. Even Waterloo! I know Waterloo. But i know there is more knowlede with the tourists than with the belgians. A cultural thing i gelieve.
Thank u fore showing this my 4 grate grand uncle was hear
Hey guys, sorry I missed the daily posting, RUclips turned off notifications!
Always good to remind people to check that it is on... and hit the like button
160 years ago today the battle of Antietam occurred
With a little imagination, you can visualize the battle, as they describe it.
So much fighting and killing on Constitution Day ...
Here the la tigers battle the union brigade of coulter
Have y'all done an Antietam or Monacacy vid with Matt Borders? If not, please do!
2:10 source on corn height? I’ve always heard the old corn types were much less tall and planted less dense than field corn today
As in like chest/chin height back then, avg height was ~5’8”, not near 6ft
Why is Dennis holding the garage door opener?
Used car salesman. Talks a lot. Says nothing.
Well Done as usual. Three Huzzahs and a Rebel Yell for all of you!
