I think the US should never retire the F14, it could update or modernize it. F14 is well respected around the world, because of the excellent films (I'm not American).

Era un caccia molto costoso . Radar Awg 9 ,missili Aim 54 phoenix, motori F 110 ( F 14 Plus). Manutenzione molto onerosa. Ma ammetto che è stato davvero un velivolo formidabile. Il Top Fighter.

It it had been a masterpiece, it would have been less complicated to fly, cheaper and lower maintenance. Understand me correctly, it's a truly beautiful plane and always fun to build as a plastic kit, but that thing cost billions in taxes that working people have to pay.

E-28 arresting gear uses a four cylinder engine on each side of the runway for retraction into battery. The engagement spins an impeller inside a tank of anti-freeze to absorb the kinetic energy of the aircraft. The cross runway pendant is held off the deck by large rubber donuts. The pendant is connected to heavy nylon tapes which draw out from the impeller. NAS Oceana has eight sets of E-28 gear. It is usually only used to prevent a runway overrun. When it is engaged or knocked out of battery, the field support crew is called to go out onto the field to fire up the engines and return it to battery.

Those hooks are sometimes used to shorten the landbased landings (for example F16 has it, but it is not a carrier fighter/bomber).

They should have kept all F-14 B-D's, at least. Never should have retired them. Could have continually upgraded them if they could keep doing it with F-15 and many others.

Beautiful* - and neither are there any "great days" when there is a war (people die in wars!) nor is there a word like "persician" / Also, no need for any fictional outerwordly figure to bless* the Navy*. It's already the largest navy in the world (and the second largest air force behind the US Air Force), larger than most countries' total armed forces and is funded by trilions of tax dollars.

They had to do it, with no more parts to keep the production for the tomcat going came to an end, and not to mention the highly at cost most likely to have problem"s of later years, unreliable that's what the pilots and mechanics made there case that the super hornet is the better plane, don't get me wrong I think the tomcat is a true legend l have an rc model tomcat I will fly after I get my transmitter for the summer.
