Thanks for the recommendations. I love a free pattern 😊 I have tried 3 patterns from the Tiana’s Closet website. I made size 3XL each time and all of them turned out really well and the fit has been good. The instructions are very basic but if you have some experience then it isn’t too much of a problem.

I just finished Tiana's closet top. I made the Romy Lantern Sleeve blouse, I never really found the sewing instructions, I think you have to read the blog. I went on RUclips and found two sew along, Sew Happy did the best job, but I found a couple.
The pattern is not oversized, or has a lot of ease. I would say it's a nice fit. Just don't size down.
The pattern appears to be drafted for a large B or C cup. I am a C cup and it fits fine. I did have to drop the dart by 1 inch. Hold the pattern up and check it. I also found I needed a broad back adjustment. I can wear it but it would fit better with that adjustment. The shoulders were fine, because I didn't size down. I would also suggest checking the sleeve cuff, you might want to add a 1/2 inch.
For your information, I am 5'6, and have an inverted rectangle shape, and a sewing C cup. Hope that helps. I made the XL.

Thank you so much for such comprehensive feedback on your sew. I am very grateful! I LOVE the lantern sleeves, they are absolutely stunning. I’m a huge sucker for a statement sleeve! That’s such incredibly helpful information thank you, I’ll be sure to make a muslin as I think I’d definitely need an FBA at least. What fabric did you make it in? Thank you so much again, I appreciate you ❤️❤️

Thank you Samantha! Love the Ethel top and the swimsuit. I do have the habit of wrapping the fabric around me🤭 ...now I'll have to imagine the catwalk strut! 🤩

You are so welcome! Both look gorgeous, it’s really heating up here so I need to get my summer sew on! Ha, I am so relieved to hear I’m not the only one! I thought everyone did it 😂😂 highly recommend the catwalk strut. And the occasional superhero cape to shake it up 😂🫣😘

I really love these recommendations! I'm a Seamwork member and made the Benning dress two years ago (plus have another one cut out) and I had no idea that they made it free! It's such a fabulous dress and absolutely perfect for the summer!

Hello! Thank you so much, I really appreciate the feedback! How is the Benning to sew up? What fabric choice have you gone for? It’s next on my list to make, was really surprised it was a freebie actually, it is gorgeous! 😍🥰❤️

@@SewinginSwitzerland The Benning is super simple and fun to sew up - the gathers take up the most time. I sewed it up the first time in a rayon and I've worn it summer after summer, dressed up and down. My new one is in a linen which gives it a different feel and structure in a different but beautiful way. It's a great pattern and Seamwork instructions are excellent!

Great selection of patterns. I'm definitely going to have a go at making the mood swimsuit.

Thank you so much! Same! I love the sweetheart neckline on it! Don’t forget to double check the sizing - I think they have multiple designers working on patterns which causes the discrepancies perhaps. Hope you have a wonderful Monday! 😘❤️❤️

I really love the Ethel Ruffle peplum blouse and could see it hacked into a dress with side seam pockets. Lofty plans, but hey, that's what creative sewing is all about...right!!?? And yes, you did good. very good! xx

I replied yesterday at the dr’s but realised signal was bad and I’m not sure it went through, so if you’ve got 2 replies come through - that’s why! Yesssss I am here for the Ethel as a dress! Do you have any dresses with large gathered skirt panels? The M7969 would be a great one to attach to the bottom of the Ethel top! And 100% yes to the pockets - a total necessity! Love where your creative mind has gone to! 😘😘❤️xx

No, Sam, no. We do not all wrap fabric around ourselves and pretend we are on the runway. Yes, it is just you 🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆

Kim are you serious?!? You HAVE to try it with a towel post shower or a fabric purchase before cutting 😂😂. Sometimes I even rope Spud in as Puggy Wintour 😂🙈

be careful with Tiana's patterns if you are plus size. I am 5X according to their size chart and made simple sleeveless tank top just to test them. Grading was awfully wrong with shoulder straps at least 5 cm longer then needed and neck opening way too low. They graded the pattern without thinking that when gaining weight people gather it in certain places and definitely their bones and torsos do not become longer. I had to notice it immediately just by looking on pattern but unfortunately I only printed my size so it was not apparent until it was too late and bias binding were applied to neck and armholes. I salvaged my top by chopping off 5 cm from top and 5 cm from back straps (so whole 10 cm in total!) just because I loved the fabric but I do not want to try more complicated patterns were way more adjustments will be needed.

Fantastic advice!!! Thank you so much for sharing! That is my number one pet peeve with pattern designers. The amount of times I’ve gone to make something and it’s hilariously long because they think just adding length makes it plus size ?!? 🫣🙈 absolute nonsense! So glad you were able to salvage your good fabric though but sorry you had that experience! Thanks so much for the heads up and comprehensive review. 😘😘❤️❤️😘
