The GEC motors used are the same as those on the 507/508/313/and GE 315s. They sound nice mind you, but down south we never did get the dynamic brakes to work LOL. The train is effectively a DC unit. The pantograph trailer has a transformer/rectifier under it, and supplies DC to the motor cars. I recall hearing of the crash too. The old 303 held up well really. Hopefully these old 314's keep on rolling for a while yet.
I like the 314's and they looked best in the Strathclyde Orange and black livery, they looked ok in BR Blue/Trans-Clyde and Saltire livery, but in my opinion, the carmine livery we horrid and didn't look good on any units. Would love to see 1 314 get repainted into Stathclyde Livery and one donated for preservation or as an exhibit at the Glasgow Transport museum, which is generally poor and lacking in railway exhibits
I’ve noticed that the Carmine and cream livery class 314s before Abellio took over the ScotRail franchise that the doors on some of the units didn’t have the cream on the doors extend down to the bottom of the body like some of the other units in Carmine and cream and instead matched the rest of the livery on those units
Cathcart circle train went threw a red light ? If it had stayed still that would have the Motherwell train hit the cathcart train in the station . . still a mystery
These trains are truly awful and charging £12 for a return from Greenock to Glasgow is daylight robbery. There should be a discount in place for these things. The difference between the 314 and the new trains is the difference between comfort and pain for some and when I'm standing at the station and one of these comes round the bend I shake my head in disbelief that we are still using these relics.

2 x 3 seating in the British loading gauge must be pretty cozy.
The class 314 was also used from Glasgow to whymes bay and gkasgow to gourock as well as the cathcart circle
RIP Class 314. Sad that these are now scrapped as the Class 385s have replaced them.
EssexLad 8919 I whip the class 385 with my belt
The class 315 is better than the 313 and 314
There is still 1 Class 314 remaining at Yoker Depot today (314209)
@@Great_WesternTVFan doesn’t make the 314s bad

its no the price of the train its the people at the ticket office, deal with it
Two objects coming head on at 30mph still have an impact at 30mph not 60mph!
+MrBigStoop When both units are travelling at 30mph and hit head on that’s an impact speed of 60mph.
Glasgow Life It sounds completely counter intuitive but it's only 30mph.
Newton's 3rd law of motion.
I have found a Mythbusters episode explaining it further.

Good Channel btw! ;)
MrBigStoop I do the higher physics course and I know that the collision would be at 60mph not 30mph
They will add up. The momentum of the collision will add up
