A lot of people like to help people out. Me and my husband do it all the time, it's called Paying it Forward, just an act of random kindness. All that being said, my husband was an ASC Certified Automotive Technician and while we were watching this video, he listed 10 things that your vehicle more than likely needs to make it dependable and to keep it that way. It drives him crazy when he sees somebody with a vehicle that they have to depend on, that they cannot really depend on. He doesn't like anything broken or in need of maintenance/repair...especially a light on on the dash lol

Your brother is right, its not that difficult to change brakes and rotors and its basically the same for most vehicles. Its a great thing to pick up how to do. I love teaching others how easy it is to do so they can pass that onto others. You got easy challenges like this.

Awsome! Keep them videos coming! On van oil drain plug at local parts store. Over size drain plug that will make new tread. Working on those Honda had a few with that same issue. Odyssey especially. Have fun and we enjoy your vids! Kindness never goes unrewarded.
You know I think whatever you post for us who's been watching from the beginning will enjoy whatever you do, it's really refreshing honestly anything you do even if it's just to hang out while you grocery shop or help out your sis, your daily life chores is great. Hey you're pretty handy with tools I see you build stuff for your van doing the oil change not that hard maybe on one of your next videos you can do a oil change and show us how to do it😊
Do Not go to those little oil change places, go to a regular mechanic. They will mess other things up & not know how to fix it. Keep care of your van & it will last, regular maintenance, don't wait till it "needs it" just do it.

Just do it. Whatever you do has interest. Having an older vehicle brings challenges but you have the best fixer upper and as a car guy I enjoy watching him problem solve. Your brother is a saint. Now you know how easy it is to do you can do it yourself! The only issue is usually just rusted bolts. Have you checked out Florida Water District Campgrounds? They are free and pretty nice. Dupius near Indiantown is the nicest we found, and they are free!
Good for you for having such a supportive and helpful brother! Also having a stranger giving you all of his money must have been very nice. The last time someone gave me all of their money was when we were playing Monopoly, and they landed on Boardwalk.

Your threads won't mess up on your oil pan if tightened with a socket wrench, the problem is these shops use air tools and tighten it so much it spins the threads smooth

The threads on the oil pan do not come out with time, only if they cross thread them. Never go back to them.
My first ever car was called "Jinx" as it had spent more time in garages trying to sort out problems it incurred than out on the roads of Scotland, so I took a evening class in preventative maintenance and it paid off. In the year I owned it I only once had to pay for an MOT certificate and sailed through my servicing without a hitch. So my advice Juliana is to do the same as I did , be that online or in an actual classroom environment and it will pay you in the end, when your Brother is not there to fix your problems.

But the caliper is hanging up, pads are not floating correctly..so even though you replaced pads, and rotor..that inboard pad will do same thing... prematurely wear out...caliper needs replaced..fyi

Honda vans are very reliable for the most part they do have transmission problems though we've had several come in with bad transmissions

Yeah that sounds like that Quick Lube spot ruined the threads on the drain plug and oil pan.
Just wanted to let you know that after that oil change. You should be crawling under the van and take a look at you drain plug. To make sure oil is not leaking around the bolt. And you should check the dipstick to make sure it's full of oil. Oil level is obviously critical to make it to three hundred thousand miles. That's so unfortunate they couldn't handle such a regular job 😕 and like you said now it's your problem 🙄. Good luck

We had an odyssey - a 2000 - loved it but the transmission went out while we were on a driving trip at 140K miles! Not worth the price to repair...but I loved the older versions as there was more headroom in the back. Now they are more sleek

Good old oil change places. Make sure you keep an eye on your oil just in case they messed it up. If the plug leaks or comes out it will drain out all your oil and you will blow your engine. He was giving you a line of crap they crossthreaded it in there more than likely . But just keep a eye on it. look for puddles under van or watch oil light.

Beautiful video. Your oil pan plug issues, if they did mess up your plug get plumbers tape wrap around the threads for a temporary fix so it doesn't leak.

Look into Ocala National Forest, camping there in certain areas. I have camped there in dispersed area and they did have free camping in an area with "vault toilets" but that was some time ago.

I never go to those oil change places. They probably did strip it. There are special plugs for stripped out ones but what a pita.
I'm watching your video, and I thought, OMG, that's a Honda Odyssey! I bought a 2009 one back in October, but I didn't have a mechanic check it out. It had 188,000 miles, and so far I have put a battery, alternator, some solenoid, and a lot more $ in it. For me, it was a question of getting a vehicle with storage space, in case I need to move out and don't have anywhere to go. I live in NC right now, but if I had to go, I think Florida would be my choice.

The nicest people drive a Honda...reliable vehicle. Mine is a 2004 and I paid 2 grand when it had 165,000 miles...it now has 220,000. No major problems
It's the same way with my wife. People come up to her and like to talk to her. I believe she is beautiful, looks friendly and approachable. It's funny you have similiar features.
