  • Tom rarely comes across a barn find location that traverses more than 40 years of automotive evolution. In this episode of "Barn Find Hunter," Tom takes you to a Volkswagen repair shop that he's known about for years to show you the 40-year generation gap of Volkswagen sitting behind the shop.

      Just temporary.
      Bacteria doesn't take a break.
      Enjoy while it lasts.
In my lifetime, everything that was around when I was born, is ALL gone.
Humans turn over everything on the surface of the planet.
In no time at all, we turn everything into the opposite item.

Coventry Climax motors were developed in the Second World War to power fire pumps mounted on the back of vehicles. They surpassed government specs and many survived the war. Builders like Cooper and Lotus found them easy to get, cheap and very powerful. Ended up being developed up to 2.5 liters and winning in F1. Great engine.

I see the squirrelling away and I don't see the people using them for fun.
      I see miserable penny pinchers.
Why did they take away our observations of the cars in action?
      They have no good reasons.

In high school in the mid 60s a fellow student put a Ford 260 with a 2 speed automatic in a bug eye Sprite. In the UK Frog eye may be correct but in the colonies bug eye (after the eye condition causing people’s eyes to protrude) is the common term. The modified Sprite was somewhat overpowered and he could lay rubber far further than his budget would allow. That’s why he said he put the Fordomatic in it rather than a manual transmission.

I sure hope that modern car lifts have a fail safe feature to prevent raised cars from suddenly or even slowly descending if the lift loses air or hydraulic pressure. In the past I've seen lifts either slowly leak down or suddenly collapse down. I say this because I have seen so many videos lately where cars are left raised up and sometimes other cars are parked beneath it! Never a good idea.
