I just noticed how distinctive the sound of background chatter in an Aussie accent is. Sounds like home. Also, lol at them freaking out over Melbourne weather. We don't say '4 seasons in a day' for nothing, fam.
The buns at the wonderbao take on the style of the buns the Cantonese serve for dimsum. It uses a special kind of rice flour. It's so soft and fluffy because the fermentation takes place over two steps, the second being during the steaming process itself!!
There's a dumpling house in China Town in Melbourne down Tattersalls Lane called Camy Dumpling (Now renamed to Shanghai Dumpling House I think) that serves all home made dumplings for suuuuper cheap! And at the end of the day they freeze any that weren't sold, and you can buy the frozen packs to take home at a discounted price! You can seriously binge on dumplings there, it's the only food they sell :p
Another Melbournian here. Love that you guys enjoyed the food here, especially the HSP. The size you got is the perfect size for one person though. If you're ever back, you've got to checkout Lygon St, for some of the best Italian food we have to offer. Also love that you pronounced Melbourne right.
Lygon St, Carlton is living off its former glories TBH. It's essentially a tourist trap. DOC Espresso makes great pasta and there is DOC Pizzeria on Faraday St, which is barely a minute walk off Lygon. Tiamo is decent for a meal too. Brunetti's makes some great cakes but the portions are small and you pay an arm and a leg for them while other Italian cake stores provide greater value for money. Casa del Gelato makes the best gelati though!
You two need to go to the Victorian market! Their jam doughnut's are amazing and you can buy food from stalls or the actual produce section and shop for clothes or random items!
Are u talking about the queen Victorian market???? That’s a wonderful place!! Though I really have no idea how to choose the best store among that many stores selling the same products🙈
Yay! Melbournian here, thank you for pronouncing Melbourne right and yes, the weather is all over the place. We get all four seasons in one day haha Much love!
Callia thank you!! This was a very stressful edit because we got back on Monday and I edited it all in one day. I can see all the things I would have liked to fix...😭 😂 but I did bring in a new music library! New disco feeeeeels! :)
I don't think I ever took the time to tell you guys this, but I'm really digging the new format. Yes, I do miss EYS, but I can now justify watching these bite-sized segments. See, usually I only have a few minutes of free time, and put off watching EYS because, as much as I loved them, they were too time-consuming to watch. These are just perfect! Plus, as someone with a chronic illness, I completely understand wanting to get out more rather than spending all of your time editing. Mobility is an issue for me too, Martina, so I try to seize the opportunity whenever I have good days. All this to say: you guys are awesome! Sending hugs and love.
Elizabeth Barone thanks for the great message! Actually with my EDS getting worse with old age I'm more tied up with doctor appointments, physiotherapy visits, seeing my counsellor, dealing with being unable to hold my camera without shaking...SIGH. So I wish I would film and edit more. But I'm determined to keep going because it brings me joy to make these videos for all you guise!! :) #buildaladder
Kudos on pronouncing Melbourne correctly! and getting that HSP in ya... Viva's are the biggest ones around (biggest standard size.. other places serve them in pizza boxes, but thats a group thang) and known as being the best. I haven't had one from them myself, but I got a good local joint.
The huge popularity of HSP's was born from a reaction against an Islamophobic politician. They were around before but they suddenly rocketed to fame last year when she said she didn't believe in halal certification after jokingly being invited out for one. Now you can buy little hsp badges and everything, thanks Pauline!
The shooter of the Orlando nightclub AND the driver of the Westminster attack were Muslim-both citing their ideologies. If you read the Quran, you'll see how hateful Islam is. YESS AS SOMEONE LIVING IN MELBOURNE IM SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS KNOWING AND EATING HSP! The snack pack you guys got isn't the 'standard size', usually at most joints it's double that size and people usually share it after a night out! Though lots of guys actually order one for themselves, and finish it! AND YOU GUYS BASICALLY NAILED EVERYTHING ELSE, but missed out on Dexter! It's really strange for me to see my own city in one of your videos, been watching so long, dreaming of the places I could be but this time I am already here :')
i mean we can let that slide anyway, people here call mcdonald's chips, "fries" but weirdly we dont call kfc fries fries, we call it "chips". MACCAS GETS AN EXCEPTION AHHAA.
The hsp reminds me of a dutch dish thats also very popular in kebab shops in the Netherlands. Its called 'Kapsalon' which translates to 'barber shop', admittedly the name has nothing to do with the actual dish, but its called that because a barber frequently ordered this 'concoction' he created from the kebab shop near his barber shop. The dish contains fries, kebab meat, shredded lettuce, other greens and a nice helping of gouda cheese, which is grilled before it is served. Its quite 'calorific' as one kapsalon usually contains around 1400 calories.

'Mushroom foam' 'Potatoness (?) of fries' Good lord and then there was the voice over. *best part* I know I should've concentrated on the food but you two were just too hilarious I had to write down those quotes xD (so it took longer to finish watching your video)
Yo! Martina said you that the closest you guys have in Japan is a a (pizzaman/pizza bun?), but I've seen both of you guys riding your bikes down Nakamichi past 一圓 本店, a ramen shop which sells very good steamed buns outside. Don't miss what's right under your nose!
Please visit Australia again soon! I've been travelling overseas for the past few weeks and seeing all this Aussie food is helping with the home sickness!
We have something very similar to HSP here in Rotterdam in The Netherlands. I need a daily fix of your vids. Whenever I'm having a tough time, I binge watch. Probably seen some of your older videos 15 times. Makes no difference. To me they never age, always make me feel that the world is a better place and there is hope cause two such wonderful, quirky, smart, lovely folks are in it. Best to you and your nasties.
Food always amazes me. Seeing new techniques and Ingredients, comparing different styles and its never the same. As long it looks appetizing, is healty and it has flavors... nothing wrong with it. I like your idea keep going.👍👌
I love your food reviews of different places. I always determine places I want to visit, first and foremost, by if I believe I'll like the food. I'm a huge foodie, and if I can't get something that will be different/more authentic than where I live, it's going to be hard for me to get excited about the place. You guys have definitely heightened my desire to go to Melbourne! Thanks guys!
We *The Dutch* call the HSP a "Kapsalon" or translated directly to English "Hairdresser's". It has Kebab meat, fries, cheese and sometimes lettuce on it too! They are delicious!
The "Squacquerone" is an italian creamy cheese, without crust! We use to spread on bread or eat it with ham (and also in other many different ways) 😊 it's delicious! But, infact, has a strange name also for me 😂 it sounds weird, lol
got2many sorry, maybe i had to speak with more precision ^^" ...For example: in Italy there are a lot of cheeses with crust, like "Parmigiano" or "Pecorino". You have to cut off the crust to eat it :)
Squaquerone has no rind because is fresh like ricotta or cream cheese! It's usually quite liquid-y and the traditional combo is with piadina (a flat bread like pita) and rocket!
Great video! My home town - happy to see visitors getting a great glimpse of top notch food in Melbourne. Many top chefs around the world speak highly of Melbourne and several have setup restaurants here. Yes the weather can change 4 times in a day for some parts of the year, but once in summer, it's sensational for months on end.
I haven't commented in a very long time, but I just love you two so much. (I remember you answered one of my questions one time and I basically jumped for joy with how happy I was) You're both a great inspiration to me. Especially Martina's building the ladder. I never expected that over 5 years ago when I found you guys that I'd be following your adventures in life all these years later. All the best, Rae
Yep there is a saying in Melbourne 'Don't like the weather? Wait 10 minutes."

"What's up with Melbourne's weather?" We question that as well 😂
Weather in Melbourne, in particular Spring weather is notorious for having ‘Four Seasons in One Day’ and being windy...
We layer our clothing 😂

Seeing and hearing Simon's loving words for Martina in their past videos and now knowing how it ended is just so sad.

To me they never age, always make me feel that the world is a better place and there is hope cause two such wonderful, quirky, smart, lovely folks are in it. Best to you and your nasties.
seriously love just watching these videos over and over when im sick.
That HSP reminds me of our German Döner box :'D French fries with kebab meat topped with garlic/herbs/hot sauce.
TheFalloutBunny Ich habe so Hunger drauf bekommen😔 das muss ich mal meinem Lieblings Döner Laden zeigen😂
You two are the best couple ever! I'm from Melbourne, has no idea you guys traveled here!!
17:45 perfect drunk food alright !! Me and the boys are always getting these HSPs after a crazy night out 🔥
Absolutely jealous 😭 HSP was so f*cking good. We don’t have it here in Japan (or even in Canada)
Food always amazes me. Seeing new techniques and Ingredients, comparing different styles and its never the same. As long it looks appetizing, is healty and it has flavors... nothing wrong with it. I like your idea keep going.👍👌
Simon and Martina are the people who give me hope for humanity I love you both so much. Always and I really hope you both are safe and happy forever
I love all your videos. You guys make me laugh smile and happy. I am married and your marriage teaches me a lot about my own. Happy thoughts to you!
Hi from Melbourne at 1am ❤️
I'm sad I didn't get to see you two :((
Ah, I'm sorry we couldn't do much social stuff in Melbourne. We had a lot going on.
CinnamonBun Hi from Melbourne it's now 2:03am😊
Simon and Martina more like a lot to eat 😂
It's fine but please come back to Melbourne soon !!
Man im hungry...
Soon I
as a melbournian this is really exciting!!! i love seeing people eat food and go to places that are so familiar to me!!! you guys are the cutest
I savored this video. Watching little pieces as I was getting ready for work. It looks so good
Thank you so much for including some vegan foods!
+Snowbunny. If I could find vegan food as delicious as this more often I'd make videos about vegan food a lot more!
Simon looks so bad ass with his new look 👌🏻
HSP kind of reminds me of donair poutine thats popular in Canada :O
Great food tour. I was loving the music at the 15:30 mark when she was gobbling up that HUGE oyster!
I'm curious, when you guys go out for food videos like this, do you ever run into locations not allowing you to film?
yokonamigaara some places do but that's why the film on the street or outside the store.
No way?????? A vegan Deli??? We need this everywhere
Should've went to mums kebabs in oakleigh haha
Seven Seeds is our favourite local cafe, glad to see international visitors enjoying it as much as we do.
We *The Dutch* call the HSP a "Kapsalon" or translated directly to English "Hairdresser's". It has Kebab meat, fries, cheese and sometimes lettuce on it too! They are delicious!
Other good thing in Melbourne is LORD OF THE FRIES!!!
Chasing The Odd Shaped Ball it's in perth as well
That's a pretty awesome name for a business! 😊
The "Squacquerone" is an italian creamy cheese, without crust! We use to spread on bread or eat it with ham (and also in other many different ways) 😊 it's delicious! But, infact, has a strange name also for me 😂 it sounds weird, lol
Francy Nihal Stavo giusto per scriverlo, il nome è strano anche per un madrelingua 😹
What do you mean without crust? How does a cheese have crust.
got2many sorry, maybe i had to speak with more precision ^^" ...For example: in Italy there are a lot of cheeses with crust, like "Parmigiano" or "Pecorino". You have to cut off the crust to eat it :)
got2many Rind!*
Squaquerone has no rind because is fresh like ricotta or cream cheese! It's usually quite liquid-y and the traditional combo is with piadina (a flat bread like pita) and rocket!
I live in Melbourne!! I know all those places omg!!
omg can u list down whr did they go if possible thanks
Tiffany Eva Kan If you check the description they included a link to all the addresses to the places they went to~
+ღ кυяσ мєяσ ღ hahaha i need to admit im too fast reading comment after the donut hahaha i already check their website 😅😅😅😅
Thanks for showing the world the wonders of Melbourne! I'm from Sydney but I've never been, this just makes me want to visit even more!
OMG 8.10 they are andovi da lopez and chandra liow, youtubers from Indonesia 💕
Martina: We should play a game to see who gets the doughnut
Simon: ah nup, I remember that pain! 😂
Ahhh im so hungry now, i think imma fly to Melbourne :P
Yah we’re less about the “coffee shops” just for beverages and more about the sit around have brunch type of “cafes”, they’re a big part of life here.
i really appreciate martin and simina's thorough and exciting food descriptions. truly bless
Thank you! We really try our best to describe what we're tasting :D
So much vegan food! I'm so jealous of Melbourne!!
vegan food has evolved! lot of yummy options today :D
Martina pronouncing Melbourne correctly 😍
I haven't commented in a very long time, but I just love you two so much. (I remember you answered one of my questions one time and I basically jumped for joy with how happy I was) You're both a great inspiration to me. Especially Martina's building the ladder. I never expected that over 5 years ago when I found you guys that I'd be following your adventures in life all these years later.
All the best,
Rae
+rayofsunlight five years! That's lovely. Thank you for sticking with us this whole time. I hope we can keep making videos you like in the future :)
The reason I'm not succeeding at dieting is watching too many vids like this. They always remind me just how amazing food is.
