Not just trend following systems... But any trading system does go through this phase where a trader looses his confidence on his system and starts looking for another system and this cycle keeps on going. Also the phase of continuous losses makes a trader do revenge trading or overtrading you can say.. and ends up whipping out entire profits of several months
Even when you are aware of this cycle you still find yourself doubting and trying to change your system😂.

@@drken9093 absolutely
He's not describing a trend. He's describing attempts to trade at retracements "with the trend" when there is no trend.
which still presents annoying potholes in trend following, enough to shake out someone without much experience/conviction in the system (especially someone experiencing fomo from other reports of impressive short-term wins lol)
You never know when it will be a trend or not, though.
@@PointsOnlyExactly, nothing is certain, just probabilities
@@PointsOnly but we know how a trend is defined exactly. yet we take trend trades where there's no trend.
Most will quit after 3 loss shots
Rest in peace Dr. David Paul
? I didn't know he passed
My max losing streak is 7.last time i got 8th losing streak. Still i was following the system and recovered all 8 losers in 3 winners
Is that true bro
How you manage your sychology
That's good man
@@technowehelpyou3660 i take my trade put sl in the system and close the screen and dont look at charts. I know my max risk for the day
And he's talking about Trend following in Forex
What a legendary trader David Paul was. Learnt alot from him that changed my trading tremendously
Trend following is difficult. Because most breakouts fail.
And don’t forget having to sit through big drawdowns.
As a mean reversion trader I love breakout traders with all my heart my 1 to 10, 1 to 12, even 1 to 16 rr is all because of them 😍
So maybe don’t trade the breakout?
Buy after the pullback to go back up?
@@trader-mattThe problem I’ve seen with mean reversion is a stop loss. Where to put it or not to use one at all But if you don’t use one, the drawdown can be excruciating
@@patrickduggan7687 previous high, previous bars high, $ figure loss
I think I found one !
mean reversion trading the holy grail of trading
Hi, could you pl share any good mean reversal strategy?
@@ranjitht5287 support and resistance with top down analysis you could even wait for a market structure shift(mss) or a mss with a pullback for better entry
Pffftt im on my 50th loss in a row. Easy peasy
Congrats man! 🙌🏻🤣
Strongly disagree. Can be done with correct filters.
Burh first search wo was Dr. David Paul😂
As Larry Williams said this week “there’s no money in trading the money is in the long term” I’ve blown out plenty and had some home runs I’m just glad I’ve done it with small accounts
WHIMS?
He's saying "ones" instead of whims :)
Pfft I've been failing at trading for over 15 years, more than half my life has been mostly losses. My psychology is still strong 💪, only because I'm stubborn asf 😅
15 years are you serious. Thats too long man
@@elchivogringo4232 I feel like I'm juuuuust starting to turn this around 😅 I'm on my 3rd straight month profitable. About 40 trades, 60 percent win rate
