Your hands and knuckles better be in good shape if you want to succeed in this sport. Knuckle conditioning is a must. Jack Dempsey conditioned his knuckles like a mad man. Even going as far as to soak his hands in hoarse urine. Fighters who faced Dempsey bare knuckle said that he could split you open rather easily and his hands felt rough as sandpaper.
