Was recently recommended this video by my careers adviser and a lot of what you said makes a lot of sense. However, I have a job role I'm applying for that lists more than 2 skills, and I am really unsure how I can address them with examples and impact to keep the cover letter to a single page.

Hey @soulchaserbecky, you're right - role requirements normally have lots more than 2 things listed, so here's what you do: unless they explicitly say they want to see evidence for each listed skill in the cover letter (very rare, and normally reserved for some civil service posts) I wouldn't recommend trying to feature more than those top 2 listed skills.
Think of the cover letter as a marketing document... it won't get you the job but it will get you the interview. The interview is where you show your wider range of relevant skills. It might feel like a risk to not mention all required skills in your cover letter, but I promise it's not.
The skills towards the top of the job description are what we want to focus on, because those are the most obvious/immediate to the writer (the first things they wrote)... which we can reasonably take to mean they are the most important to them.
      How does that all sound?

    Hello Raj,
Could you provide guidance on how to format a cover letter when the responsible person handling applications is unknown? Should the designated space for the recipient's name be left empty if we lack this information?"For instance, in you example you used Jane Summers' along with other details.

Hi @dapriluns4061 - I wouldn't leave it blank, I'd go with Dear Recruiter. That's the optimal / modern way that works best. Raj

Hi Raj! Your videos are very informative and easy to understand. Thank you for it!
I had a query and wanted your expert opinion on it - I repatriated from Australia to India during the pandemic and this relocation led to a setback gap of 1 year in my career trajectory. Is there a way I can best explain it in a cover letter? or should I not mention the gap at all?

Hi @ishairahgeer - thanks for the appreciation and the question! In respect of your question, I wouldn't be inclined to mention the year gap in a cover letter. A cover letter's primary (and pretty much sole) aim is to show your suitability and fit for the role. Using space to convey something else doesn't usually work out from a cost-benefit perspective. Generally speaking I don't think the year's gap is going to be a big issue for employers (many recruiters might not even notice!), but if it's on your mind and you want to get some peace, I'd perhaps recommend contacting them (most roles have a contact email) and explaining, in advance of submitting your application. I hope this helps :-) Raj
