    great video thank you for taking the time. I was always really into sports and working out. I spent the last two years in Vietnam and started having bad digestive issues and increasing symptoms as time has gone by. I'll mention that I did spend a few months in a water-damaged apartment with mold. I did all the possible testing to rule out any serious diseases including neurological diseases, heart diseases, colon cancer, etc. everything was normal. I've also tried lifestyle and dietary from intermittent fasting, keto, low FODMAP, taking various supplements, etc to no avail so I decided to give I've just received my results from Great Plains Lab and here are my out of range markers:
    Arabinose: H 24
    Hippuric: H 285
    Glycolic: L 17
    Oxalic: H 106
    Malic: 2.0
    HVA/VMA Ratio: H 1.5
    HVA/DOPAC Ratio: H 1.8
    5-HIAA: 0.63 below the mean
    3-Hydroxybutyric: H 3.6
    Vitamin B5: H 9.6
    Vitamin C: L 0.39
    Other test results have shown:
    Higher Mercury levels
    Low nutrient absorption
    Testosterone: L 9.32
    CRP: 2.44
    Ferritin: H 336
    Serum Iron: L 9.1
    TIBC: L 19%
    eGFR: 81
    My symptoms include: constant leg and foot fasciculations, tinnitus in both ears, cold hands and feet, fatigue, weight loss, stomach rumbling, bloating, mix of soft stools and constipation/bloody stools, pain in right side of my abdomen at times, back pain, heart arrhythmia, out of breath easily, up and down mood, also went to hospital about 6 months ago for possible kidney stones but nothing was seen in scan but there was blood in urine.
    I'm at a loss right now and not sure what to do next so any comments, suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and looking forward to more videos!

      Although I appreciate you watching my video, this is a bit advanced to discuss through the comments, and so I would suggest scheduling a consultation with a functional medicine practitioner. I will say that based on everything you said, along with the lab values, that it wouldn't surprise me if you have some type of underlying infection.

    In Germany this test is not known very well yet.
    So I found one lab, that does a similar test for about 250 Euro (with 40 markers) + costs for an interpretation or therapy recommidations.
    But I wonder if it is really reliable to test the urin acids.
    Maybe you can save some money for blood testings. Normaly you have to test all B Vitamins, Q10 levels and ATP, GLuthathion in serum or EDTA blood. These blood tests are reliable and does not change from day to day.

  • @essentialblessingsbygina-en1ju

    Such great information, short and simple. I would like to ask about #75 you didn't mention separately-mine was 5.8 which is slightly elevated...what does that indicate? Also on #77 Creatinine was 96 but no lab values to know if its in the normal range. Thanks so much.

    Your talk was very useful and thank you. Few questions:
    About oxalate: my practitioner suggested a good antioxidants trifortify and I see it is driven from soy. So how I can have it when I have very high oxalate? And if there was genetic issue what can be done? And so having almond milk 150 g per day is bad? Yes?
    Also having problems with Candida and oxalate and bacteria overgrowth: can it cause breathing difficulty? Dry mouth?

      Thanks! I've already checked them out.
      I got many markers who are low, like thymine and markers 62 to 67 are 0.00. And markers 27 to 29 are low. Noone says why they are low?? Some markers are low.
      If you got tiny tany small elevation in candida, do you need antifungal? I'm eating clean anti inflammatory cost already.
      Ive been order to start acetyl karnitin but not sure how much my body need?
      Thanks

    great video. I recently received results of high Arabinose (25) and high Tartaric (19). All other measure are within normal range for yeast and fungus. Does this indicate candida.....even though the Tartaric seems to be the most out of range. Appreciate any help

    • @UnderstandYourTests
      @UnderstandYourTests  4 года назад

      Tartaric is produced by Candida, and so even though arabinose isn't too high this most likely indicates a Candida overgrowth. Thanks for watching!

    If the markers are low for mold or not there and that doesn't mean we don't have a mold issue how can we trust the test? And last time I had an overgrowth it was of saccharomyces boulardii. What's good for that? Will it tell you which yeast us high?

    • @UnderstandYourTests
      @UnderstandYourTests  4 года назад

      Shelby, it's not the best test for mold, as if someone suspects they have mold and needed to order one test it wouldn't be the organic acids test, as I would recommend the Myco-TOX profile from Great Plains Laboratory. On the other hand, if someone needed to order one test to evaluate yeast overgrowth it would be the OAT, and if one or more of the mold markers happened to be positive then further testing might be indicated. Arabinose is commonly high on the organic acids test, and this indicates an overgrowth of Candida. The other markers are more general markers for yeast, although the treatment for different types of yeast is typically the same (anti-fungal herbs or meds). As you may or may not know, S. boulardii is commonly taken as a supplement, and so I'm not sure if that is why it was elevated on your test results.

    • @shelbybettencourt3301
      @shelbybettencourt3301 4 года назад

      @@UnderstandYourTests i had an overgrowth of it at the time I was taking S. Boulardii and that was after a stool sample test through another laboratory. I can't remember which one. I know I did the dutch test and something else, never the OAT. I'm hoping my test results will explain things.
