I was at their show in Birmingham eating a hotdog outside in the shadow of the tour bus of montreal. In through the window. From my vantage point I could clearly see a big screen TV on which en episode of law and order SVU was playing. I sat and watched the entire episode in silence. Then went about my business.
You've got to admit that Kevin and Thom have a similar if not identical vocal range. Their songs are layered heavily in so much sound but always rely on a very thick bass/drum track, which in most cases is very methodical but at the same time wants to make you get up and move. Although the subject matter might not be similar it is a valid point to argue that they do have a similar sound. But I guess this is like arguing Beethoven's sounds v. Bach's sound.
Except that Radiohead is on a completely different level and Thom doesn't have to genderfuk or sound like a vapid doofus in interviews... whilst creating one of the most lustrously beautiful and compelling bands on planet earth. I really wanna like this band but I keep watching them talk...
As for "identical vocal range", ask Kevin to pull off a "Pyramid Song" or "Spinning Plates" or "Codex" even close to the way Thom does. He won't succeed. With or without "subject matter".
He sounds like the "Goth Kids" from South Park or "the Californians" on SNL. "Mainstream Americahn cinemuh is suh baohring." "Beautifahl". Didn't he grow up in the Midwest? Yeah, you tell us you exhausting, saturated cliché!
this is the best kevin barnes interview ever and it needs more views
thanks!
haha "worst thing about me is i like sports"

Adore him to pieces, ugh! 💞
thank you for saying that about radiohead
It's funny considering that my favorite band is Radiohead and Of Montreal, one of my favs too. wat
+Nelly González I think I originally liked Of Montreal because they reminded me of Radiohead. Isn't everything so derivative?
They sound nothing like Radiohead

This is fucking fantastic
I wish I hadn’t seen that
Name of the song playing during the question?
It's "Spiteful Intervention"
Where have been all my life?
I can get behind late 90s and early 2000s Radiohead. Albums that are nostalgic are great albums imo.
Oh fuck yeah, spiteful intervention
yeah Ok Computer was supposed to be the best album of their and honestly only 3 songs were entertaining enough to listen to
